Went cross country skiing at the Fit Strip in Marquette MI, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Had a really good time. There wasn't quite enough snow to put down a decent track but there was enough to ski and enjoy ourselves. I personally have lots of experience on these trails having lived years ago on Magnetic Street near NMU campus in Marquette, and I have spent a lot of time on the Fit Strip both in winter and in the summer. As a ski trail, it is acceptional really. It normally is groomed well with tracks and has good winding patterns through the woods and nice hills in areas for more advanced skiers. One terrific feature is that the trails are lit with lights for night skiing which is really cool. Cross country skiing here at night is a fun and exilerating experience. It is a great place to enjoy skiing in winter, and working out in the other seasons to get into, and stay in shape. I highly recommend the Fit Strip.

The trails here are fun to have a walk on. It is great to go through the woods and enjoy the outdoors in town and the connection to the cemetery is nice so you can get a peaceful walk.

They nailed it with the name, it's a short, sweet and to the point "fit strip". Its a great place for the light afternoon walk, Jog, or even XC ski! There are lights around the path and it's open 24/7 which is nice especially if you like to be the only on our there or work odd hours. The whole loop is around a mile or so I believe, completely free to use of course!

I have been using the fit strip for about 2 years now.

I am a onewheeler and those trails are very onewheel friendly without being too difficult

I've never ran into someone who thought we shouldn't be there which has been nice.

I clean up any trash I see when I'm out and about, just cause I so use these trails and want to keep them clean.

Also on the beginning of the trail there is a donation box. Please consider donating even a dollar if you do use it. Everytime I drop in at least a dollar to show my appreciation that this exists

Excellent lighted loop at night for cross country skiiing. It was not the smoothest trail because I think many people come here to walk, so you have to pave a way for your skis. Be aware that although it's shorter, it shouldn't take more than an hour to do the lighted loop, I believe the lighted loop is a hybrid of the beginner and intermediate. There are multiple uphills and downhills. You will definitely pick up some speed. Also, when you start the trail make sure to go counter clockwise. It was so fun!

I walk in the fit strip quite often. It's right in the heart of the city, but in the center-most trails and off trail you can't even hear it. It's well-groomed and beautiful in every season, with a variety of flora and fauna. There's a big stand of hemlock in one section, another of cedar, and other deciduous and coniferous trees throughout. The trails have wooden exercise structures throughout and many of them are lit. It's up against the cemetery and community gardens on one side, so I often walk through both. People also tend to walk their dogs there and sometimes off-leash, so do keep that in mind.

Great place within the City of Marqette to cross country ski. 1 mile of trail is groomed for both skate and classic skiing as snow permits. Trail is lit for night skiing. Grooming is performed by volunteers. Please consider leaving a donation in the pay pipe to help pay for fuel and maintenance of grooming equipment.

You'll find lots of paths to stroll or jog or run through the beautiful foliage and shrubs and trees of Marquette. Park on the grassy surface of the community garden in the Park Cemetery -- one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the USA -- or any of the various side street adjacent to the Fit Strip. The Fit Strip is a hidden gem of Marquette, relatively unknown to many residents. The canopy of trees in the fall is truly beautiful.
