It's a great place for family outings but the bathrooms are super scary. Hiking, fishing, playing, Frisbee golf, small fires, crazy lookouts, right on the river. What else could you want. Even learning about nature or animals. Lowell has everything and is usually pretty calm and clean.

I love this park! There is a walking trail from a quie5 neighborhood that leads to it (with a modern outhouse halfway). There is an education center just as you drive in that has 1 or 2 saved local animals. Walking/hiking trails everywhere. Bike trails set up on one side that have you dshing in and out of trees, up and down hills, etc. A nice drive from the top down to the bottom (a couple places to pull off and either picnic, hike, or just enjoy the nature). At the bottom are 3 park areas for kids, various shelters for picnics, reunions, whatever, the river!, boat ramp, canoe put in, bathrooms (the only ones), boat parking lot, Frisbee course, etc. The shelters are built with stones from a used to be quarry within the park. In an area surrounded by flat corn fields, this park is not flat and stands out as a gem of nature.

Always, always love our visits to this Beautiful, and thankfully close state park! Just the next county over from us too! The river is calm down here near where the main, newer playground is, Lots of shelters for picnics and BBQ 's, they now have those weird frisby golf nets in some places on this lower level too, lol. (They be going flying by in different colors and Im trying to see what kind of Beautiful bird is flying near! But just a lil disc thing! 🐦🤦🏽‍♀🥴🤷🏽‍♀😂🤣
But what I come for is the Trails! The forest and the beautiful array of wildlife to be seen sometimes, and the amazing filtered sunlight through the magnificent trees! And a Good workout if you hustle and go up and up! 💪🏾🏃🏽‍♀🏃🏽
We saw a turkey hen laying near a trail in 2 of my pix on here. I suspect she was protecting her brood of baby eggs since she didn't move. And a small heard of young deer stopped to check us out on the trail ahead too! 🙏🏽🦌💕🥰
Beautiful Mother's day hike for this trip! Amen! Family fun in nature here, I highly recommend y'all! 🥰👌🏽🙏🏽🌳🌲🍁🌹🏵🌸🐸🐞🦢🦆🦅🦃🐿🐇🦌🦊🪱🕸🐝🐜🐛🦋

I love this park. Have not been on any trails, but each picnic table has its own "hut" except for those at the larger Lions shelter. Scenic river side, and newer playground for the kids, (and kids at heart) with Zipline.

Very nice park. Good size playground with a zip line. Large covered eating are for picnics. Nice area for fishing. No rocks to loose your line. Some times a lot of boating in the area as expected. This deer walked 3 feet in front of us. Hiking, biking. No nibbles all day then this one

Very nice park with a fun disc golf course . Mostly par 3's and moves along fast . Well kept , there are trees and rough but not the disc swallowing kind. Fall is perfect time for colors and no bugs .

A large city park with both historical ties and modern touches. This attractive park once hired a gentleman named Ronald Reagan to serve as one of its lifeguards. It also has multiple WPA era shelters. It has a short disc golf course, several hiking trails, playground equipment and multiple bench swings. This heavily wooded natural area also happens to be located along the scenic Rock River.

This well-maintained, tranquil oasis also had plenty of space for gatherings or play. I loved the WPA-era design, the woods, and the river.

I grew up near this park and it has always been a favorite. It has grassy play areas near the river and plenty of trails to explore the woods. There is also a boat ramp if you want to enjoy the river itself.

Great addition with a new park, frisbee golf course, accessible boat dock. Plenty of parking, picnic and shelter areas and trails to adventure on!

This park has been a favorite pass-time for me and my family. We spend fun hours boating talking throwing frisbees you name it. It's a great city park with fun trails. Some trails are also good for mountain biking and the road is a fun bike.
