Grumpsters Log Cabins

What a great place to stay & relax w/ friends, and family! We wanted for nothing & deer, wild turkeys, chipmunks, squirrels & a plethora of bird varieties were right outside our windows to enjoy. Thank you for a lovely visit!

My friends and I met up at this cabin and were very pleasantly surprised by the accommodations! We stayed in Cabin three where there was PLENTY of space, a nice kitchen with an oven and coffee maker, a gas grill we used, and a fireplace. We were very impressed and enjoyed our time!

A few girlfriends and I went for a couple day getaway, it was perfect! We stayed in cabin 2, it was so cozy and welcoming. The cabin had all the amenities we needed. Plenty of hiking close by and great small shops just down the road. Owners were wonderful in giving us recommendations on some great places to eat and shop. It was an incredibly relaxing and peaceful getaway! Oh, and had some little forest visitors come by as we sat in the covered porch.

Wow! If you're looking to experience excellent customer service, a HUGE cabin, all wrapped up in a setting of trees and hills along the Mississippi River, this is definitely your place! We had an awesome 2-night stay and loved every minute of it! Cheri was super helpful with ideas of things to do, they had the fireplace on for our arrival, the kitchen was well stocked, and everything was very clean. We were looking to enjoy some rest and relaxation and this was the perfect place for it!

This was the most peaceful family getaway we have ever taken! We loved watching the birds, the chipmunks, and wild turkeys on the beautiful porch! My kids couldn't get enough of the "dollar hunt!" Our cabin was clean, tranquil and completely rejuvenating! Thanks for all the care you put into the property. We are already dreaming of returning!

Love, love, loved staying at the house with extended family! The children had fun running around the yard. The adults and youngers had several places in the house to hang out or to play cards on the very long dining table. The beds were comfortable and plenty of linens. The deck was perfect for eating in the evenings and the local wildlife would walk by as to say howdy. We are already looking forward to coming back.

We stayed in cabin 2, it was wonderful. The setting is perfect, hill in the middle of the woods, wildlife right outside the door, fire pit with plenty of dry wood. We used the grill to make a nice meal and found everything we needed, all clean and in good condition. Highly recommend this place, we will never stay in a hotel across the river again.

We've stayed here at least once a year for the last 10 years. Always 1st rate! Terry and Juanita were fantastic, and the new owners have carried on the tradition of excellence. Great people and great accommodations. Hands down the best place to stay in the area!

Really awesome place!! Super clean and modern cabins with dish, owners are very nice and the property is super cool, not far from the Mississippi and the town of Mcgregor! Highly recommend! ~Dish guy#2

Absolutely wonderful! The cabin was pristine with all the comforts of home. We loved our time here and will definitely return.

Stayed for a long weekend. Cabin was clean and had all the amenities we needed. Quick drive to town and sightseeing around the area. Loved sitting on the porch and watching the wildlife.

I just spent a beautiful weekend in cabin number 3 for my bachelor party. This cabin has three rooms with full size beds. A loft with three beds, two pullout couches. Very comfortably slept 6 guys! The pictures of the cabin online do NOT do this place justice. Will definitely be returning!

I surprised my husband with an anniversary trip to Grumpsters Cabins, and even before we got there, I had been in contact with Cheri. She is the sweetest lady, and she did so much to make sure it was perfect. When we go to the cabin, they (she and her husband) had water and snacks (she made sure they were Keto-friendly, because she knew I'd been doing Keto) and a note wishing us a happy anniversary. The cabin was spotless and cozy, and the area was beautiful. My husband was really surprised and spent the whole time telling me how nice it was. Score! We are already making plans to return next year. Oh, and have fun with the dollar bills (that's all I'm going to say)! : o)

How was Trumpeter's cabin? It was great!!

We arrived about 3:00 PM on Tuesday, the 4th of June and everything was in order and neat as a pin. The cabin was just roomy enough without being overwhelming. The front porch with a pair of comfy rocking chairs and pretty new gas grille allowed for some good, casual times. A real plus was the primitive bird feeder and the really adorable little chipmunks. Their entertainment value exceeded the cable TV and DVD player above the fireplace. Waking up to the birds singing was a great start to the day. They also helped lull one back for a few extra winks.

The view driving up from downtown McGregor is so beautiful. The light filtering through the trees is heavenly without all of the underbrush. It is enough to make you want to traverse the paved, gently curving road.

Within 50 miles are Prairie du Chien, the Villa Louis and Fort Armstrong Museum. Also to see are the Yellow River state forest with good main roads. Spook Cave tour that is all by boat. Do bring a sweater as it is 47degrees in there and the occasional water drips from the ceiling are chilling. There are also great scenic views from the top of the ridges, including Pikes Peak state park and Hosmer park in Lansing.

In my opinion, the only downsides were that we only stayed 3 nights, the Mississippi River was too high and a sudden outbreak of buffalo gnats seemed insect repellent resistant. That is unforeseeable and only temporary. If you like a rustic setting with electricity, modern plumbing, a cook top and refrigerator; this place should be on your bucket list! We loved it and will return again. Also the local people are friendly and helpful.

This was my 2nd stay and it was so much fun! First time in a cabin, this time in the house. Loved both and am looking forward to another visit!

Our family of eight siblings enjoyed staying in the gorgeous Grumpster’s House. To begin with, it was spotless. The home is very unique and beautifully decorated. We loved the many nice bedrooms with comfortable beds, the lovely living room, the wonderful kitchen and the large dining room table where we sat around to eat and play games. We also enjoyed the spacious deck with lights. We were amazed at the wildlife wandering around the yard: the mama deer and her fawn, the family of turkeys with babies; and the ground hog playing peek-a-boo with us was hilarious. It was a wonderful stay and we will be back. The owners are very nice and accommodating. We highly recommend Grumpster’s House!

Great place to stay in a beautiful area with lots of sites and activities. The cabin was clean and comfortable. Perfect for our family. We will be back again!

I hesitate to give this review because it is such a wonderful relaxing get away so close to home and hate to give away this amaxing place I accidently found on the internet. Cabins are beautiful and well maintained and most of all very clean. Owners are very pleasant and easy to talk to. We have been there three times in the last year or so and looking forward to going against soon.

Awesome place stayed 2 nights had cabin 1,2,and3 for a wedding will definitely be back lots of wildlife on property. THANKS FOR HAVING US.
