First time eating here. Cute little cafe on the main stretch, great views nice friendly staff. I had the chicken salad on a crossiant with walnuts, cranberries and lettuce with a nice bow tie salad. Of course i went during this whole social distance thing, but everything was great, if i wasn't here on vacation i would definitely be back often .

Loved the ambience and food. The owner did everything she could to accommodate our large group so everything was great! First time in town and had a great experience.

The portions were slightly small but delicious!

Cafe McGregor in McGregor Iowa was really cool inside and out. Our pics show some of their beautiful flowers, framed art, cozy feeling, very delicious food and drinks. We were on a cousins' reunion and everyone's needs or wants were met! Fun, unique, great staff. One unisex bathroom. We enjoyed this town on the Mississippi River and its restaurants, shops and churches. Thank you!!

Decided to give this place a try for some breakfast. My boyfriend and I were seated right away and our order was taken shortly after. Didn't have to wait long til the food came out but the place was also not too busy the time we were there. The food was great and the prices were pretty decent. Would recommend this place.

Great place! The staff were extremely friendly and the food great prices. Ordered the ham and cheese omelet and enjoyed the whole thing. The atmosphere really made the place too, with all of the eclectic decor. Definitely worth a stop in for breakfast food.

Note: we came here for a late-ish lunch on a Saturday and were a bit surprised to find McGregor not awash with tourists. I can't say whether this review would have been affected had things been busier.

Came here as we didn't have easy access to our planned lunch spot in Guttenberg (car show on the main drag clogged things up). Parking wasn't an issue, but I can see how on a busier weekend it would be. We called ahead to find out if dogs are allowed on the patio, and they are - was never a problem, and our server even brought out a nice strip of bacon from the kitchen for the pup.

Even though we were aware that they were understaffed, we were seated quickly and service was prompt and polite throughout. Our server was actually the dishwasher, but did a marvelous job nonetheless. Folks at the counter inside were equally courteous and pleasant. The place even arranged superlative weather for us. :)

Simple beverages were better than your average expectation, but it was the sandwiches that really shone. The mushroom and swiss burger was some serious beef and well-seasoned; the turkey cranberry sandwich came on a wild rice bread that was perfectly toasted, and was - hand to God - the best sandwich I've had in years. They don't skimp on quality and the portion size was perfect. Kettle chips and a few pickle slices were a nice accompaniment.

Bathroom was clean and delightfully kitschy. We both agreed we lucked out in our choice that afternoon. We will be back!

Food was amazing. I was hungry, ordered the Treasure something or other...eggs and sausage on top of biscuits and sausage gravy on top of hashbrowns...so delicious...and so much food. I only finished half of it.

My wife did the hashbrowns and a short stack if pancakes and said they were excellent. Coffee was perfect, service was wonderful, atmosphere and location were superb.

Can't wait to come back next time we're travelling in the area, in fact, I'd make a detour just to grab breakfast here.

We are all so glad we stopped here for a late lunch. They accommodated our party of 15 with ease. The service was quick, friendly, and unobtrusive. I ordered the "Special of the Day" which was a burger with gouda (a very thick slice) crunchy, fried jalapeƱos, and a fried egg and served with a side of amazing potato salad. It was very filling and hit the spot just right! If I ever find myself back in Iowa, I will definitely be coming back for lunch.

The most adorable place. Great atmosphere and antiques collections. The owner is sweet as can be and the food is cheap and perfectly made. If you stay in the area or just drive through I highly recommend a stop!

We had breakfast here on both mornings of our weekend stay and everything we had was amazing! The iced lattes, eggs Benedict, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, bacon, and eggs were all fantastic. The staff was also very friendly. We are going back later this year and are very much intending on going to Cafe McGregor for breakfast for each morning of our stay again.

I visit Mcgregor from Dallas, Texas twice a year. I eat here at least 5 times in my 5 day visit because the food is awesome. The atmosphere is really nice and nostalgic. The service is great too. Brenda runs a great restaurant. This is a must place to eat if you visit Mcgregor, Iowa.

A pleasant experience in a cozy town, they make food just like mom would make. I highly recommend this for anybody and if you need to be picky about Wi-Fi it's time to spend time with your loved ones and not worry about Internet connections..

I expect breakfast menus in small towns to be basic (call me closed minded). This one was not--it was innovative, with fresh fruit and veggies. I was pleasantly surprised!
