The food was great! Large portions and cooked very quickly exactly the way we ordered it and the service was wonderful! Both the cook and the server that were there that day were super efficient got along great and had a well-oiled machine! They have very good options and they did breakfast and lunch for us at 9:30 in the morning for us!

I ordered a couple of items off of the menu to go. I was going on my 10hr break and didn't have anything for today or tomorrow.
Onion rings were perfect
Fried mushrooms were awesome
If you order a BLT tell him to make sure your bacon 🥓 is crispy.
Texas burger was way better than any of these truck stops by a long shot. It was a well deserved surprise.

Stopped here on a whim after staying at a hotel just up the road. WOW! I am glad I did! I had the Big Boy Omelet. It was HUGE and stuffed full of everything imaginable. Made with fresh cracked eggs too! This was quite possibly THE BEST omelet I have ever had!

Stopped here for the first time, for breakfast. It's definitely worth stopping for. It lives up to the name Down Home Diner. Nothing fancy, but the food is prepared to your order,and worth the short wait while it's being made. I got a sausage and cheese omelet with home fries cooked on the grill, not deep fried. And a fresh made biscuit. Wow! The home fries were the best I've ever had, and the omelet was real good too. The atmosphere may not look like much, but the food sure makes up for that. One of the best breakfasts I've had in a longtime! I'll be back next time by.

I stopped here originally because I like the small independent truck stops. At the big chain ones (love's/TA's/Flying J's ) it's all about getting in and out, dealing with miserable people.
Places like are a breath of fresh air.

Food was so delicious! The server was really nice too. My fiancés eggs were cooked perfectly and they even accommodated me by adding the bbq pulled pork onto my loaded baked tater. Don’t knock it till ya try it. I am wearing my fiancé out saying over and over how good the food was. Will DEFINITELY be going back next time we are in the area. If you want a home cooked meal, this is the place. It’s on the right side attached to the gas station but don’t let that sway you, it’s worth it and a fantastic value.

Even though this is in a truck stop, the diner was great. The breakfast was amazing and the people were very friendly. I don’t know if all of the negative reviews were from previous owners because this is a hidden gem.

Happy days the 50’s are back with this menu. Traditional country diner fare that harkens back to a time where calories were as unknown as saturated fat and if a cheeseburger was good, you didn’t cry over how many hours on the stair master you’d pay. It’s fried, it’s greasy but it all is good, they don’t monopolize on the fact they are one of the few games in town, great value, and flavor. Yum!

Very polite server. We ate the Philly cheese steak sub and onion rings and fries and it was very good. Reasonable prices too.

Great food cooked fast and for a good price, probably won’t find myself in the area again but I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

Great food, friendly atmosphere, and affordable - what more can you ask for, and they serve breakfast all day!! It was busy with dine-in and take out which is a good indication of their quality. We had French toast and their country breakfast. We'll stop again on our travels.

Biggest and juiciest burgers I've ever seen. Absolutely delicious. And loaded with FRESH veggies. This is hands down my favorite place in Kentucky to go out to eat at.

A secret little gem everyone should try! The cook/waiter is so nice and makes the best burgers!

The cheeseburger and large fries were delicious and I couldn't even finish either one. Prices aren't bad either.

Another great find while traveling. Stumbled onto this place a year ago and thrilled to find it still going strong. Great food at a bargain.

Down Home Diner, yes it is with the portions especially. Love the little mom and pop type restaurants and am more than glad to hand my hard earned money over to someone who appreciates it. Wish I would have snapped some pics was not thinking, when I go back I will. But I do have an image that relays how I felt about that burger!

This particular time all I got was a bacon cheeseburger to go since I was on my way home, so no picture, but it was so well made and delicious that I felt compelled to review this diner. Honestly the best burger in Morehead, KY I've had in the short time it took to prepare it (just a few minutes actually) and I usually recommend the Wendy's here for a quick on the go burger.

I've had this diner several times, usually breakfast which is always a win, but occasionally the burger as well. Could have just been the cook, or the amount of time in which I last had a burger here, but it hit so different this time around that I have to say if you're looking for a good burger you should definitely give them a shot at it.
