Ernie's Cafe & Steak House

We stopped in looking for steak and eggs and decided to stay and try KC Strip with eggs. The owner slices his own steaks so you get a great cut every time. The waitress Amy was very kind and informative. I had my elderly aunt with me and the staff was so nice to her. Lots of pictures for home town feel. Excellent coffee. Wonderful personal experience. Loved it like fast kid loves cake.

Best American diner I've ever tried! Everything is delicious and homemade. There's nothing negative about this place at all! Be careful since it can get pretty packed during busy hours. Also, it's worth mentioning that once I got eggs, which were cooked in a way that I didn't like, and I regretted it, but thanks to the kind waitress she got me new eggs cooked well with no additional charge. It really is American hospitality at its finest! 100% recommend! 😉🤗

We went to Ernie’s Café & Steakhouse for a weekday lunch. It felt more like a café than a steakhouse. They offer breakfast and lunch every day. It was the perfect place for American comfort food. We each ordered something different. Our food came quickly and it was hot, fresh, and tasty. Our server was very friendly and helpful. The service and the charming Art Deco design of the building created a wonderful, upbeat atmosphere. They have been in business since 1934, which shows their dedication to good food and service.

We came to Ernie's on a recommendation from our daughter and son-in-law. We can now recommend this place to others. The atmosphere is that of a diner from the 30's-40's which we just love. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food came to the table hot and very tasty within five minutes. I am a hash brown junkie and theirs are fantastic. Crispy and full of flavor. My wife loves a good Pancake and she absolutely loved what Ernie's made for her. This is an honest to goodness diner as a diner should be.

I see myself as somewhat of a breakfast expert. This place is THE place to go in columbia Mo for breakfast. This just oozes 90s TV show diner with food you'd kill to jump in the show and try. This place makes it possible. Eggs, bacon, toast, and pancakes all 5/5 amazing. Service was perfect always attentive but not overbearing, we gave our waitress a 50% tip because she just nailed it. Atmosphere is where it's at though. I just love a classic diner over a fancy place with overpriced food. This place isn't over priced and just perfect. 100% recommended and best breakfast restaurant in Columbia Mo.

Great food. Great Staff! Mimosas, French toast, hash browns, bacon, etc. was excellent. Staff was attentive and friendly. If I lived here I’d be 100 Lbs. heavier 😂

Ernie's proves that you can have all three. Great, Fast, and Cheap! The staff was super friendly, hustled, and made sure my coffee was always topped off. The food was served quickly, was delicious, and was the perfect proportions. I had the Belgian Waffle, hash browns and bacon. I love my hash crispy, and these were perfect! The waffle was cooked to perfection as well. Oh, and I had an up and coming artists as my server!

Ernie's had a lot of really good, old-fashioned, breakfast options. Pricing was great. I love the actual location. The decor was super cute. This is a great diner breakfast place!

Very personable atmosphere, came in on a rainy day and almost every seat was filled so that gave me my first clue that k might’ve stumbled upon a really good thing. Ordered some scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage patties, French toast, and the Belgian waffle. I’m pleased to say all of these items tasted homemade and cooked with effort and not just another customer. Gotta give the waffle an 11/10 as well. It was cloudy absorbed the butter and syrup great and goes right down. Also ordered a mocha and it was the best mix of coffee and hot cocoa ever. Starbucks can’t even do that half right. Take it from me, an aspiring food critic, you’ll definitely want to be a regular here. My partner also said the omelette was great. :)

We love this place for Breakfast! Best in Columbia. Everything is so good, and you have to try the French toast. I always get the #12 sampler comes with all the breakfast meat and it has never let me down.

Classic diner food done well. Great service, great prices, perfection. Expect a bit of a wait to get a table on weekend mornings. It's worth it.

Ernies seems to try hard providing a "local diner" vibe with their incredibly friendly atmosphere, their retro booths, and their delicious food priced reasonably. In my opinion, it has paid off well. I believe this will be my family's go-to spot in Columbia in the future. I already can't wait to go back and have another delicious mimosa and strawberry submerged French toast!

Second time eating here, delicious both times! All employees were kind, personal, and calm even with a packed restaurant! Such a fun and easy experience. May be my favorite place in como.

First time visitor and I found the setting comfortable and the breakfast delightful. Seating restrictions for covid appear to have been lifted so interior booths, bar stools and outdoor tables were all available. It was busy enough to have to search for a seat though there was no actual wait.
There were no menus but rather a link provided to peruse via a smart phone. Service was quick and cordial with steady refills on coffee and water. I had biscuits and gravy with a small side of bacon & French toast. They were delicious! The value for the cost was great and they even gave me a cup of coffee to go as a refill. Overall a superb experience.

Just go here! The food is classic diner style but it's the service that shines! Our waitress was the most adorable person ever, with a personality that was so warm and welcoming. She made the entire Earnie's experience excellent!

We went here for breakfast. I got the full order of biscuits and gravy. It was so so good. Their gravy was really good. And they didn't skimp on it either. I would have loved it on chicken/country fried steak but I didn't see it on the menu. My kids got burgers and really liked them and we're so glad that at 7:30 am they could order lunch/dinner items. I would definitely go back again. Also the waitress was super nice and attentive. Food, prices, and service was great.

This place is absolutely trlhe best breakfast spot I've ever been too. I love the staff and personable they are and their fantastic personality and performances of their Jon can't be topped by any other business around that serves food...ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM!!!!!!!
