El potro mexican cafe

I visited the restaurant last night and had the Frozen Mango Margarita and Pollo Ixtapa. Both dishes were exceptional. The only issue I encountered was that the flour tortillas were not sufficiently warm, especially by the time I reached the third tortilla.

The service at the restaurant could have been slightly improved, as the server did not provide any item suggestions. However, apart from this, everything else was excellent.

I will definitely be returning to the restaurant in the future.

Not the best Mexican restaurant in the area.. but definitely top 10...... I suggest the soft tacos there's three of them in their massive

We come to this restaurant every time we are in town. We love that they give complimentary cheese dip with the salsa. The food is always good. The margaritas are tasty. The staff is all very friendly and the food comes out quickly.

We were in the area and chose this place based on the reviews on Google. Even on a busy Friday night we were seated immediately. The waiter came right over and surprised us when he brought White Caso to go with our chips and salsa. The menu is huge. Everything from deep fried tacos, burritos and combo platter standards to fine dining specialties. Drinks came out within a minute. Food came out incredibly fast, piping hot and was amazing and reasonably priced to boot. I must admit that I saw a few reviews about bad service, but I thought they were probably one of the most efficient wait staffs I've ever seen. I live 45 minutes away from El Potro, but I think it's thoroughly both the trip.

Went there last night. The server was very polite but made a slight error with my wife's order. She ordered steak enchiladas and got chicken enchiladas. She tried the plate anyway and really liked it. The manager stopped by to ask us how everything was, and my wife told him of the error. She said it was so good that she didn't mind. The manager was very polite but insisted we let him make it right. He replaced my wife's meal with the steak enchiladas, which were even better! I had the carnitas tamales, which were also very good. We will definitely be back again!

Best $1.50 tacos on Mondays! They have the best salsa in the area. I like how you get free cheese dip with every meal. Highly recommend!

Our first visit 1-5-23. My wife and our herd of 5 youngest didnt eat. Two kids meals both Cheeseburger sliders and frys. They loved them. The older two kids had Texas Burger and frys. The frys are really good ( Dad Tax ). My wife ended up ordering a beef taco salad she claims it was the best she's ever had, she didn't finish it either. I ordered the combo 10 which is shredded beef taco, enchilada, and burrito. This was really good I left about a quarter of my burrito. I chose black beans, and they were the best I've ever had, also had rice. They start you with chips, salsa, and queso. This is the first place we weren't able to finish the chips they brought. The service was top notch Friday night dinner rush still seated immediately. Our drinks never emptied with out a fresh one brought. With a 15% tip the total was still less than a Texas Ten. We will definitely go back.

I have been going to El Porto for years. First and foremost, the food is always good. Consistent quality. The menu is big so be ready to take time to choose. I've tried many options, yet to be disappointed. The chimichangas are very good as are the fajita's. Let's talk margaritas, they have a wide variety and I think they are the best in town. They tend to be more sweet less sour. My favorite is the fish bowl margarita with the patron tequila. Comes with nice fruit on top. Next the service is always top notch, the management seems to really get it. The servers are well trained and easy to work with. Let's get to the best part, the chips and salsa. Chips are homemade as are the fresh tortillas. The sauce is great, I recommend the hot sauce as well. I actually mix the hot and mild to get medium. Best part is everyone gets cheese dip as well no extra charge. Show up hungry and start right in. This is why El Porto is a regular stop for us.

Just passing through and stumbled on this gem! Food was amazing. Excellent service as well. Had the shrimp and crab enchilada and it was so good. Salsa was fresh and the queso was also good.

I just went for the first time today. 7/20/23. THIS PLACE IS INCREDIBLE! I am SO picky and judgemental when it comes to authentic mexi food. I was FLOORED by this place. Our server, Jilli, was amazing. So so attentive, everything came out perfect, was so nice to the kids, and everything came out so fast! She was so friendly. I truly wish everywhere we ever go out to eat, I have a server exactly like her. She should be teaching classes or training people.
For food- the kids ordered max and cheese and chicken quesadilla. I ordered the Quesabirria tacos. The salsa- so good. You get free cheese dip at every table!! The quesabirria was so good. My only thing I’d change is the portion size of the Comsumme . I personally like to have a lot with onion and cilantro so that I can drink it like a soup afterward. It came with fresh avocado, rice and beans! Big portions! The kids ate everything on their plates (not Normal). The kids meals also came with free ice cream! And not just a simple scoop of vanilla. It was rolled in brownie or Oreo texture & topped with whipped cream and sprinkles .
I also ordered the coconut margarita, DROOL WORTHY. I loved it so much, I ordered two. Absolutely perfect experience here. If would give this place 50 stars if I could.

Our entire bill was under $60 and I would willingly pay triple for their food and experience here . They are doing it RIGHT!!

One of our favorite Mexican restaurants. There are at least 6 closer, but we love this one. Not only do they bring chips and salsa BUT they bring queso blanco too! Service is good too.

This building has been the fatal end of several restaurants, but no El Potro. This restaurant is friendly, great food with large portions, and we experienced excellent service. Not only that but the price for the amount of food was extremely reasonable. Will go again!!!

OMG this place came highly recommend 1st time here 1st walked in I knew it was going to be awesome the atmosphere is amazing, the staff was awesome and the food so delicious 😋 I highly recommend I will be coming back 😀

First visit tonight. They were following covid guidelines. Distance among tables, servers with masks.
Fiesta salad with chicken was amazing. Very unique. Marguerita was great! We will be back.

This is some of the best Mexican food I have eaten. I had the chimigana el gloria it was awesome it had big chunks of chicken and a lot of chorizo in it. The cream cheese and monterrey jack on top was really good. Plus the free cheese dip was awesome. The chips were fresh and the salsa was really good I usually don't eat much salsa but I did here. I will be back plus the margaritas was the best I have had and everything was reasonably priced

Thought it was expensive..UNTIL we got are food.. and definitely worth every DIME

Free queso appetizer is always a plus. Their food selection is great- you won’t be disappointed.

I have always enjoyed eating at this restaurant. The food is always good. The food tonight was better than usual. I rarely give five stars, but I feel like the earned it tonight. I would recommend.
