Benson's on the Mississippi

This place is a hidden gem! Stephanie offers exceptional service while her husband Bud creates magic in the kitchen. Although, Steph’s bread pudding is to die for and Bud’s smoked prime rib melts in your mouth.
Seriously, one of the best restaurants I have been to. Check it out!

Update: This is the 3rd time dining at Benson’s.
This time celebrating a special event. We had another great dining experience. Our dinner began with the scallop appetizer which was so delectable. Then we had a fresh house salad which was great. For our final entree we ordered prime rib. I’m telling you; there will be so much leftover, you can take home for another meal fit for a king/queen the next day!
Finished off with dessert of cinnamon roll cheesecake. So yummy! We love Benson’s!
I encourage you to give this place a try. You will not be disappointed!

Smoked prime rib was the star of my visit! It truely is as good as it looks. The view of the river right from our table made our visit even better. I felt very welcomed and comfortable. Dessert was cheesecake with a holiday beer on tap, both great. You all have got the check this place out!

Wonderful place to eat, get there early to get a window seat looking over the Mississippi River. The Prime Rib was great, nice smoke flavor. The beef brisket was tender, juicy and full of smoke flavor. Great service and wonderful mixed drinks.

Benson’s never disappoints. The food is unique and amazing and the views of the river are icing in the cake. We tried the specials tonight so Pan Fried Walleye and the Tomohawk Steak! Started with the Fried Goat Cheese. Worth the drive from the Quad Cities so check out this gem along the Mississippi.

Hearing a lot about this place had to give it a try.. And I have to tell you it was well worth it!! We will definitely be back!! I had the rack of ribs which were amazing! We also had the stuffed mushrooms Which were different than I've had anywhere else but still good. My wife had the shrimp which I cannot tell you enough was out of this world!! They were huge and delicious. The cheesecake was amazing! I have to tell you everything was made to perfection. Place was clean the bathrooms were clean and the service was super great 👌. The ride there along the Mississippi Was nice lots of great scenery there. And the views from the restaurant of Mississippi were nice too. I really can't say enough about this place you need to experience it for yourself. This is a must put on your bucket list for some great dining and great views. Total package here! A local gem! Great views of the Mississippi, delicious food served hot by a friendly, attentive and knowledgeable service staff. The pride of the owners to provide a clean, welcoming restaurant is very apparent! Great seafood offerings and hand crafted, in-house BBQ. Real mashed potatoes, tasty cooked brown fries and incredible deserts, especially, the bread pudding with bourbon sauce, reminiscent of the bread pudding at The Bon Ton in New Orleans. The bar is well appointed and welcoming. "I shall return". Well done owners & staff at 'Benson's'. KUDOS!!!

Our third visit to Benson's and we brought our friends. We were all impressed with the service, the presentation of the food and the quality. We will be back again. The couple that own and work during the dinner hour are delightful and interesting.

First time there and we are just SHOOK how AMAZING every bite of everything was!! WOW! The atmosphere was delightful, cozy and classy all at the same time! Staff was super friendly but omg let’s go back to the food… UNREAL. We will be back VERY soon!

We live in Surprise Arizona and Thomson Illinois. We have been wanting to eat here for a long time. The Prime Rib is by far the best I have ever had. I drooled over the leftovers. Jon and LuAnn Drake

I would recommend Benson's on the Mississippi to anyone. You can immediately tell that this place is growing in popularity. Personable and charming spot to enjoy a great meal. I stopped in to try the ribs on a Saturday and I will be making this place one of the few places I will visit for a meal. The ribs are a dry rub with sauce on the side and are tender yet firm texture. Amazing mac and cheese both creamy and decadent. I personally also enjoyed the slaw and the bourbon baked beans. The portable bella fries appetizer I would say are a must try. Grab yourself a reservation for this small town gem as it fills fast.

Returned for a 2nd visit, on Thursday night, for shrimp boil. Excellent!!!

This place is fantastic. I visit the area periodically for work, and I'd eat here every day I'm here, but unfortunately it's only open Thursday through Saturday. The food is phenomenal! Have a Petosi!

Loved the deep fried goat cheese appetizer and the smoked prime rib was amazing. The big picture window offers beautiful views of the Mississippi River at sunset. We will definitely be back.

Really freaking good food. Seasonings were on point, portions were plentiful and the food was quick to arrive I have no complaints! Had the shrimp boil and I left stuffed with leftovers and will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu. This is probably my new favorite dine in restaurant in the area! Keep up the amazing work! 🤘

The food was excellent. The service was superb. Because my husband and I are watching our food intake we had decided prior to our arrival that we would split the fish plate. of course when we got there they had a $5 charge if you share a dinner. When I asked if we each got the 2 sides I was advised no. And when I inquired about what the $5 fee was for, she advised me it's to pay for the dishwasher to wash that plate! I understand times are tough for these businesses but at the same time, things are tough for the consumer. There are enough other great restaurants around and because of this extra fee we won't be back.

We really enjoyed our experience at Benson's. The wait staff did an excellent job! They were super busy but did great. We made reservations but came a little early and they made sure to still seat us as soon as the could.
The food was really good. Good size portions. We enjoyed the sweet pepper slaw. If I had 1 negative it would be the brisket was good but it was midwest brisket flavor... more like roast beef than southern brisket. Brisket is a tricky meat to smoke. All and all great dining there

Benson's is a GREAT place to have a nice dinner. Bud Benson really knows how to Smoke, Grill, Sear & Steam meat & Vegetables to taste absolutely delicious. His wife Stephanie runs a clean & friendly bar & dining area. My steak there has ALWAYS been cook exactly how I order it.
