Eastman Cemetery

A small mid-1800s cemetery tucked away amid corn fields, with a scenic view to the East. Final resting place to very interesting local historical figure Emma C. (Eastman) Wilson and several of her many husbands.
The cemetery is hard to get to, here is how: On the northern part of Keystone Road there exists a driveway for 14838 Keystone Road. From the intersection of that driveway and Keystone, the cemetery is located 1,300 feet to the East and 2,200 feet to the South - out in a field to the Southeast. A neighboring farmer who helped restore this cemetery with an Eagle Scout in the early 2000s mows a grass path path through his field you can use to access the cemetery. This path moves depending on year. When I visited in October of 2018, there were two mowed paths: The first path led south from a starting point of a few hundred feet in the driveway mentioned above and headed southeast. The second path led directly from Keystone, starting 2,200 feet to the South of the driveway mentioned above and headed directly east to the cemetery. The second path was a lot more bumpy, might have been hard without four wheel drive. Some years there is a path that heads south from the driveway starting almost all the way to the farmhouse at the east end - there is a faded rectangular sign still there. When I visited, that third path was not mowed and was all corn. When you read the story of Emma, the trip out there is worth it. There are a few veterans buried there so it is great to see that someone still cares for it and mows, etc.
