My sister and I popped in during a brief stop to Idaho Springs on a tour to Blue Sky Mountain. I was really impressed with how much there was in the museum! Information about mining, geology, Native American tribes, local wildlife, and more. Cooper was very helpful and knowledgeable; they shared a lot of information about the history of Idaho Springs and mining. There is also a lot of information there about activities in the town. I highly recommend stopping by to get some more context for Idaho Springs and to plan your day — we could have stayed longer! Going into the visitor center/shop is free and the museum has a $5 admission fee. I think it was well worth it.

Great place, great staff. We showed up like 2 min before closing and they stayed over like 10 more minutes to help us get an idea of what to do in the area. There recommendations were spot on. We really appreciate the extreme and help. Check out the train and water wheel!!!!

Very friendly people, cute gift shop, cool museum (limited hours), immaculate bathrooms. I visited on a Saturday afternoon and was able to talk to a US Parks ranger about dispersed camping in the area. She provided a some amazing maps, highlighted/recommended some great sites, provided the 411 on basics for local camping rules, mostly about where to (and not to) dispersed camp. She even offered to call ahead to a couple of "paid" sites, just in case I couldn't find a "dispersed site" with vacancy. (It was a Saturday afternoon after all so camping in general was going to be crowded.) How cool is that?!?

Really nice place. The employees are very nice and super helpful, and friendly. They have an amazing free museum as well. A really good stop-off point. They provide great suggestions based on what you want etc. Just overall one of the best visitor centers out there. There are clean restrooms as well.

A historical place with lot of collection of collectibles and layout of gold mining in the area. A beautifully decorated and arranged place. Tourist information brochures are available for guidance. It's in a small mining town. We visited Colorado for the first time.we loved this place . Highly recommended for tourists and new comers.

Perfect little shop to grab souvenirs and pamphlets about the area! The lady at the counter was so friendly and helpful. She gave us some very cool historical facts about the area and a couple of things to check out while we were there. She helped us find something I had wanted to see so bad ( I didn't know the name of it, so I couldn't google it), and I was so happy we stopped here! It's the perfect starting spot before checking out the rest of Idaho Springs.

I can not express how wonderful everyone here was. Coming from out of state we went to where we were going to camp and it was covered in snow. We went here and they gave us several places we could camp. And told us of all these wonderful things happening that weekend. We would have been SOL if it wasnt for the staff here.
Also, the local museum was really interesting and well maintained for a municipal museum.

Quite an extraordinary exhibit, from the backstory of the Argo Mine and as well as the very detailed descriptions of the cameras, big horn sheep, natives, minerals and gold collected. It truly is fascinating and a great experience, not to mention the guide and staff were very helpful and kind; and service was quick. I truly enjoyed this place and we'll visit again. Highly recommended!

Great place to visit if you are in this little town. It's like a little museum full of history and beautiful things inside. They have like a little exhibition of historical articles related with this place. Very friendly and nice staff, also they sell here souvenirs at a good price. If you are driving near this place you should come. It's very nice and interesting.

This was an unexpected treasure! The museum here was free with a suggested $3 donation and will worth it. My kids and I learned so much in a very interesting manner. The kids enjoyed it as much as me. Please make a stop here.
