This is nature area. Features lots of hikes and over a dozen pack in campgrounds. Fees are modest and reservations are a must. One site is less than 2 miles to trailhead. October has been dry so not water flowing in creeks or falls. Trails are easy in places, some are moderate to hard.

A great place for dayhikers and backpackers as well. It is the dry spell that no much water in virgin falls and big laurel falls. Next time i will try it after a significant rainfall. The Martha's point overlook is magnificent. The trail is rocky and challenging, be careful.

A fantastic hike! Each feature is better than the last. This is a long hike though. It is well over 4 miles to get to the main falls. Well worth the journey!

the is by far the most rewarding hike i have ever completed here in tennessee.
that said, this hike is not for the faint of heart. there is a warning sign at the main parking lot that says STRENUOUS HIKE AHEAD and that is 100% true.
i'm a young, healthy, avid hiker and even this one was brutal for me. 9.5 miles on somewhat steep, rocky terrain requires awareness and good boots. seriously. wear good boots or you'll regret it. this is a dog friendly trail, which is always a plus for me so i can take my buddy along.
if you make it, the final destination is absolutely breathtaking. you'll pass multiple falls along tue way, but the main attraction is quite the beauty.
there's also camping, and a beach along the river.

this one is worth the sore legs. i promise.

i loved this hike. i'll tackle it again someday.

Easy getting to falls..hard on the way back !
With stopping at the lookout and taking pictures, I did exactly ten Iles in 4 hours and 22 minutes. A new favorite hike in TN..so much to see..it was fun and beautiful! I will be going back ! I saw a man that had to be lifted out in a helicopter..if you are in poor health or poor shape or are new to hiling..do not do this trail!

More interesting hike, bring water and be safe it's more remote. Very nice though with lots to see.

We did not get to see the falls because it was almost a 5 mile hike. However we drove around and checked out the scenery and found 2 really old cemeteries. Can't wait to plan better and go back to see the falls!

Awesome place for hiking. There are few other smaller falls and great overlooks on the way down. But, the hike back is uphill(more than 1500ft). So, be ready for a great workout on your way back.

This parking lot is top notch. Great place to leave your car while you go into the wilderness.

It was a little before normal season when I went, but the area was gorgeous and peaceful even before spring brought blooms and greenery. The hikes weren't terribly rigorous even with a heavy pack (camping with kids)...and for that matter, even the kids handled the trails pretty well. I'd like to return to the area in different seasons to enjoy the different stages of a very diverse catalog of flora and fauna.

Great place but be ready for a hike. 8.6 miles roundtrip. Bring plenty of fluids and a snack.

Still a little warm for a backpacking trip, but the clouds are welcomed for this overnighter.

It starts out easy, but it does get strenuous! There are many, many waterfalls to view along the way and several species of purple wildflowers dot the landscape. Huge boulders and several caves add to the viewing pleasure along the way. There are a few places for primitive campsites!

Without a doubt one of the coolest hikes I have ever treked. Not crowded lime the smokies. This trail has not one, not two, but three disappearing waterfalls from a resurfacing underground river. Each one more breathtaking than the last. Not an easy hike but not too much if you start early and take your time.
