Kindness Cafe + Play

Awesome spot! I took a day trip from Richmond to Charlottesville in large part to visit Kindness Cafe and it was well worth it. Super warm and positive atmosphere. My berry smoothie and blueberry & lemon bar were both very good and quite reasonably priced. Service was friendly and the food came out super fast! Great opportunity to support the local special needs community.

Nice new sun shaded patio area and open interior cafe space. Indeed a kind place to enjoy a good cup of Joe. Snack items somewhat small, could be beefed up but tasty. A lot too families and healthy folk as located inside the cville YMCA which is impressive.

This cafe is located in a gorgeous, renovated YMCA. The space is so clean and modern, with sidewalk chalk, giant connect four and outdoors seating with shade. The customer service was friendly and fast! I just heard one employee as someone outside if they wanted their “usual” and recited it down how many ice cubes she likes in her iced coffee! I love how they’ve created a welcoming space for everyone here.

Also, the drip coffee was $2.5 for a 12oz. Mudhouse is $3.97 for a 12oz mug that ended up being less than 12oz and no free refills for dine in. Affordable, great coffee perfect for if you’re working out at the Y before or after.

This place is AMAZING! It's the perfect spot to grab a quick cup of joe or hang with friends. The online ordering system is SO easy, and I can just drive right up to grab my order-- no need to even park!

Great coffee, smoothies, treats, and most of all, the people! Perfect place to meet a friend inside or outside under one of their umbrellas. Our kids love the games and sidewalk chalk as well. Kindness Cafe is also peaceful enough to do some tele-work from in the mornings! Couldn’t recommend enough.

Amazing coffee and best customer service in town! This amazing company and non-profit offers opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to have a job and provide kindness throughout! Great place to have a meeting, get together with friends at the YMCA and enjoy a tasty snack with an amazing cup of coffee!!

Kindness Cafe is such a happy, cheerful place to visit. Everyone welcomes you with a smile and makes you feel comfortable, and the drinks and snacks are tasty, too! I particularly enjoyed the iced coffee and frittata the last time I was there. I appreciate that there are gluten free options as well.

I love Kindness Cafe!!!! It is by far my favorite place in town to meet up with friends or sit alone and work on my computer. The service is top notch and the drinks are great too! I also love all that this amazing business does to support our community!

My family and I love it. Online ordering is easy, and curbside pickup is great when I'm in a hurry. But I try to not be, because their space is great to be in, but more so, their people are great and the service is unbeatable. Some of the, ahem, kindest and most thoughtful people you could ever meet. It's impossible to leave there without a smile on your face.

THE BEST! Kindness has the best coffee and the best vibes! I love coming in with my friends to hang or do work in their sunshiny and bright environment. But what truly makes Kindness special is its lovely and kind employees.

Delicious drinks and snacks and even better customer service! The atmosphere is terrific. Really love the iced chai latte and their seasonal drinks, including the raspberry lemonade spritzer during summer and peppermint mocha during the winter!

This is such a wonderful cafe with an amazing mission. The staff works hard to serve every customer and the yummy food/coffee/smoothies are a bonus! Definitely a place to visit often.

My sons and I started frequenting Kindess Cafe during breaks in Zoom Kindergarten classes 2 years ago. We came for the curbside or drive by/drive-thru pick up (maybe the most convenient and easy "drive thru coffee" in town!!) of delicious icy Americanos, fun smoothies, perfect hot tea selection, and in the winter - FIST PUMPS (hot chocolate with so many treats). We could bring to the bike path or playground with us or now play some games they have set up outside. But not only did/do we continue to come for all of the treats, but for the chance to share a chat and some smiles under the big yellow umbrellas outside or just passing by with team Kindness. We're SO glad they're here!

We love Kindness Café! Super easy curbside pickup, delicious frittatas, yummy chai lattes (iced and hot). And of course more specialty drinks and the usual coffee drink options.

The coffee is great, service is excellent, and the atmosphere is amazing. Come here for the smiling faces...your delicious coffee will feel like a bonus. The power balls are so so good!

I had the best first time visit there this morning. A kind gentleman opened the door for me as I walked up and said “ a gentleman always opens the door for a lady”. They made me a decadent cappuccino with half and half while having a great conversation with one of the baristas. Plenty of parking and easy access through a separate door from the gym. Highly recommend you supporting them ~
