Shenandoah Joe Ivy

Probably had one of the best lattes of my life here! And I’ve been to a LOT of coffee shops. Simple, straightforward menu, with delicious, smooth coffee.
Inside is cozy and great to sit and chat or study, if you can get a spot! Tends to be busy at high points.
I brought my toddler here in a stroller, and it can be hard to navigate inside, but the outside sidewalk has some seating, which is great.

Great coffee. Sometimes good pastries. Great for quiet reading over a great cuppa joe.

I have been using fresh Shenandoah Joe coffee beans for my espresso machine for over a year now. I love it! I also love this location. Very Homey

Wonderful mid-size coffee ship. Great selection & friendly customer service. This is a great spot to get some work done or just enjoy some good coffee. A relaxing environment - with caffeine!

Never met a coffee shop I didn't like but this one is so special. Wonderful staff (hey Morgan! Haley! Ian!), great SJ's coffee ☕, good eats, fine smoothies... great layout to sit for a little while, a longer while, or grab and go. Outdoor patio by a fresh garden. Love this place, 😀 ❤

This Joe's store is great. Morgan is a fantastic batista. It is a very welcoming shop. As with Shenandoah Joe's at Preston, this too has a great atmosphere.

Fun, friendly and welcoming staff, even though they were extremely busy. Good baked goods. Even better coffee.

Friends were meeting there for book club, chess, dates, and there were several people alone enjoying, working or studying. It's a quiet spot with plenty of booths/nooks so you can just get cozy with your pour over in peace

Update: My initial experience wasn’t great but this spot has become my regular coffee shop and the baristas are super nice.

Worst cappuccino ever — was really thin. Plus, my dad’s cafe au lait tasted terrible. Starbucks makes better coffee. Really disappointing.

My first visit. Very friendly and helpful staff. My [espresso] macchiato was perfect—a very smooth and rich dark espresso with a splash of carefully steamed milk froth, served at perfect drinking temperature.

The half pound of Ethiopian Sidamo seemed pretty pricey, but I expect it will be great. Any more, it seems like all really good independent/locally roasted beans cost more than I usually pay for mass produced ones, but it’s good to support the smaller companies.

My favorite coffee shop in Charlottesville! I love their coffee and atmosphere. I like how their coffee isn't that sweet compared to other franchise brand. Mocha is relatively sweeter which was my favorite. A very nice place to go to when studying or meeting up with friends to chat.

If you are visiting town you should go to the roast house on Preston for the ambience and experience. However, if you live around these parts then make effort to come out to this location. For whatever reason their drinks are usually notably better and it is also more often less crowded. Word of caution: outside seating is very limited, so don't plan to have a place to camp out during peak times.

Shenandoah Joe is the best coffee in town, hands down. This is their coffee bar location, not their flagship roastery, so it's a bit more small scale than the Preston Ave. location, but you can still get a great selection of coffees and the espresso is always awesome. Seating is at a bit of a premium, but that's not really any different from most other coffee joints. This is the place to go if you're looking for a real cup of coffee.

What an amazing experience! Why can't all cafés be more like this one? I've checked out the other locations which are pretty amazing but the hospitality and efficiency here has nailed above and beyond. Kudos to Amy, Shannon, and Jay. The Thrashers thoroughly enjoyed their time.

The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about coffee. Bewarned you should expect a wait for drinks, because they make each cup of coffee individually, but it is worth every secound. This is truely the best coffee of my life. Their preston location is particurally neat because you can often watch the owner roasting beans.
