Mattie's Place and Bike Rental

Nice shop in a beautiful landscape. Everything was homemade and delicious. Fried bologna sandwich on a wonderful bun and some heavenly blueberry cheesecake pie. Just wow!

Quite possibly the best homemade Donuts and chocolate éclair I've ever had. Add a cup of coffee and then enjoy the view as you take a chair on the wraparound porch overlooking sheep in the pasture and surrounding mountain range. Cash/Check only. Plastic is not accepted.

A little store located as part of one of the many farms along the Burke Garden road. The store has an interesting variety of pickles, jams, jellies, and spreads that you don't always see in other places, along with some basics and snacks and such. And don't forget the fresh baked goods and the "best of Ohio barbecue" that is served up there. Mattie is knowledgeable about the biking road around Burke Garden, and the store has some rental bikes if you need one. You can even leave your vehicle there on most days if you are going to bike the loop.

Great place to stop by. A few bulk goods and great food! Small restaurant. Beautiful log home store! Beautiful part of the country! If you are anywhere close you must stop by!

A small store/eatery off the beaten path in Burke's Garden. My wife and I split a turkey sandwich and a glazed donut for lunch. Sandwich was huge, fresh and tasty, and the glazed donut was the best ever. We ate on the deck overlooking the pleasant view. Very kind, friendly service.

Absolutely loved this store. So many breads, jams and sandwiches to choose from. Everyone was very friendly and it was a great place to get a bite to eat and take a break on the porch after riding our motorcycle through the valley.

Our motorcycle group stopped at Mattie's for lunch while riding the Back of the Dragon. Some had the outstanding chicken salad sandwich, some had the best burgers we had ever had. Both the doughnuts and doughnut holes were great. We even got a loaf of the raisin bread that we enjoyed the next morning.

Great homemade sandwiches and soups by Mattie. She makes the best sourdough baked goods around. Maybe you will be lucky enough to go by there one morning that she has made doughnuts or cinnamon rolls! Whenever I go birding in Burke's Garden, I stop by Mattie's Place to see what is on the menu and visit. You should too!

My husband and I ate there for the first time yesterday. Food was delicious, and Mattie was great to talk to. Will go back!

We love to visit Matties. A clean, home type atmosphere. Clean, neat, pleasant environment. Great food. Outside seating to just relax and enjoy life. Lots of things to see and learn about. God's gift of nature. Great place to visit. Everyone is welcome. You can rent a bike there as well if you are into biking

Mattie is the best.. Wonderful person and can really cook,we love riding up to Burke's garden and stopping in this back in time establishment. Better get there soon the Doughnuts go fast.. Thanks Mattie

Cute store. We did the tourist thing and went there for some cool Burkes Garden merch. Also got a cheeseburger which was a bit bland but the sandwich was good. You MUST get the cinnamon bread, donuts, and the bacon egg & cheese bread though... amaaazing!!! Very nice people. If they could add a small play structure for the young kids that would be awesome! The littles weren't too thrilled with the place but they did love the dog who came up to say hi. I'll definitely go back for the desserts & bread when we go back!

Mattie has a small general store and serves food. I had a ham and cheese sandwich with lettuce, tomato and onion. The sandwich was served on homemade sourdough bread. The tomatoes we're heirloom tomatoes from the family garden. Mattie's Place is definitely worth the visit when you're in Burke's Garden.

Stopped here to park and unload our bikes to ride the loop. They graciously allowed us to leave our truck parked there. When we finished our ride we ate hot dogs and shopped. Very clean facility with the typical offerings of an Amish store. The staff was friendly and helpful and we will return

A group of cyclists from Kingsport, TN enjoyed the beauty of Burke’s Garden and the hospitality & great home cooking at Matttie’s. When we arrived this morning cherry cream cheese pastries were already prepared. After the ride homemade pizza (including crust) were piping hot in addition to their regular menu. Capped off lunch with cream cheese brownies.

We had a phenomenal breakfast!!! Would HIGHLY recommend for anyone in the Burkes Garden area!!

I'm an out of towner, and every time I'm in the area I visit Maddie's Place. Everything she cooks is amazing, and I'll continue to visit. Absolutely don't miss out, she's the best.

Mattie's Place is a cozy little country store with fantastic pastries, baked goods and lunches. It is a great place to stop when touring Burkes Garden. The cinnamon rolls alone are worth the drive to Matties. We will be back!!
