Black Bear Lodge

My husband and I had an amazing 2 nights at black bear lodge! It was the best place we’ve ever stayed. We were in one of the cabins and it was super cozy. We loved the fire place. It was super close to everything we needed- restaurants, trails, e bikes, etc. Katie was so kind and helpful. Will definitely stay again on our next visit!

We spent our anniversary weekend here and it was very lovely. When we first pulled up we realized that it wasn’t in a remote location like we thought but by the end of the day we realized it’s located perfectly in town. It’s central to everything but lives on a quiet street. It took us 5-10 minutes to get to everything in any direction. The whole main lodge is decorated so well and has such a cozy atmosphere. We came in one day and found 3 couples all enjoying the sitting area and playing games which I thought was so awesome. The staff are super chill and very nice. We stayed in a room in the main lodge and it was the perfect size for us and was very clean. The games and the DVD collection were such a fun and inviting touch. We definitely utilized them over our stay. Some people don’t like that they close up shop after eight but this lodge is more like a BNB. The staff are people too. They have to sleep! I would say the only thing was that we can hear everything that is going on outside our room so it doesn’t feel super private. But all in all this was such a great choice for staying in South Lake Tahoe. If you love a cozy, homelike experience then this place is for you.

An amazing stay. Big rooms, warm lodge in the winter, great views, friendly staff. It’s close to shops, food, and fun, but perfectly out of the way. Just an overall great experience. A nice and quiet getaway.

Former Tahoe local. This is my current favorite hotel in town. The cabins are awesome. The manager Bree is on top of everything. It’s solid.

This Lodge had everything we were looking for in a quick weekend getaway. We're locals in Reno, and wanted a quick get away for my wife's birthday. The staff at Black Bear was amazing. Kind and helpful on the phone, and very accommodating when we checked in and left. The lodge has a very rustic "log cabin" feel which is what we wanted in February. The room was clean, comfortable, and had nice touches. We wore the included insulated robes to the jacuzzi, which was nice since it was quite cold out. As everything was covered in Feet of snow, hard to say what the exterior was like, but a very pleasant experience. Will be returning for sure!

We stayed in the Rubicon Room and it was lovely. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the room was wonderful and we absolutely loved the lodge, the roaring fireplace, the big beams, and the gorgeous courtyard. Well worth it!

We had amazing stay at the Black Bear Lodge. During the first night, we stayed at the cabin where the space was separated by the wall. Unfortunately, the wall was too thin and we could hear everything our neighbors were doing. We spoke to hotel staff and they moved us to a different cabin that had privacy. All workers at the hotel have been extremely nice and friendly.

I really appreciate the interior design and how much thought was put into every little detail.

What a wonderful and quaint place to stay in Lake Tahoe. I absolutely loved our stay in Black Bear Lodge. The staff was friendly and attentive. There are so many little things about this place that really make it shine. Small touches like fresh flowers from their garden in little jars to decorate the main lodge, to the chocolate on your pillow at check in, and complimentary glass of champagne. Our room was comfortable, spacious, and clean. It is convenient to attractions but far enough away that it is peaceful and quiet. We took scooters back from town and it was a five minute ride. I would highly recommend Black Bear Lodge for couples looking for a romantic getaway or for vacationing families. (they had several cabins outside the main lodge that were ideal for families)

We had a lovely stay here for our anniversary! The lodge is so cozy and adorable. We were so impressed by the attention to detail. Wonderful little lodge in a great location that still feels off the beaten path. Every staff member we encountered was kind and helpful. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Absolutely loved our stay. We stayed in one of the smaller duplex style cabins behind the lodge and it was wonderful. Good bed, large shower, kitchenette, gas fire place, and many other great amenities. The only downside is the wall between the rooms may be a little thin as we could hear our neighbors the first night, but it's not too bad. It was vacant the rest of our trip so it worked out just fine. There is free parking and a hot tub on the premises. I highly recommend this place for couples and small families. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at Black Bear Lodge for two nights as our base for exploring Lake Tahoe. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and our room was lovely and cosy with the wooden beams and a fire if we needed it and tea and coffee making facilities. It was perfectly located for exploring the lake and was close to lots of shops, restaurants and other amenities.

Was a great location in a quiet neighborhood. Six blocks to Lake. Many restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores are nearby. Nice lush court yard with entertaining squirrels. Very nice staff.

Honestly wouldn’t mind getting snowed in here. Definitely coming back and 1000% recommend it!

Absolutely top notch lodge! 10/10 would stay again. Staying in one of the cabin’s on the property made the experience even better. Also, Brie took care of everything we needed and made us feel like we were home. She was wonderful!

Our stay at Black Bear Lodge was perfect! The rooms were stylish and cozy with a fire place. The staff was extremely nice and friendly. We enjoyed the cozy feel of the lodge common areas and loved the garden. This is a hidden gem in South Lake Tahoe and I would recommend it to anyone!

The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. The wine is delightful and the lodge is close to everything. The price was fair although i wish there was breakfast included. It's small but it's quaint, clean and welcoming. Great for a weekend away!

Our wedding at Black Bear Lodge was perfect. Their rooms and property were picturesque! The staff were friendly and helped make every aspect of our stay ideal. A big thanks to the BB team, Rachel, Greg, and Katie who made our wedding weekend so special. We will be coming back for our anniversary trip every year!

Absolutely beautiful little place. It's a cabin style hotel, almost feels like a BnB but your room has everything you need. There's also a few cabins on the grounds you can rent. Hotel has a hot tub which was the perfect temperature.

The rooms are big, we had the 300 sq ft with a seating area. Both the room and bathroom felt large, it feels like a nice studio apt.

Fire place is a really nice touch and the hotel uses quality products for everything from the toiletries to the bedding.

The owner does nice little touches, we came to get married the next day off site and they had Champaign waiting in the room with fancy Chocolate.

The hotel has tons of DVDs you can use, a common area with games, a fridge you can use, and a microwave.

It's an absolute beautiful little property at the bottom of the road to heavenly and just off the main strip of South lake Tahoe. This was perfect for us and the owners treat you well and make sure you feel welcomed. They even have spare cell phone charges if you forget yours.

My wife and I are staying here and think it is extremely nice! We are staying in one of the studios and really love it. The owners are great and the breakfast in the morning although simple is really nice. What a great place to come to get away! Quick note on the shower that it does tend to drain slowly in unit 6. However, that is the biggest problem we have had and I really loved it.
