House maid bbque sauce is 🔥 pulled pork and pulled beef was good aswell...I could taste the smoke flavors in the chicken ,pork and beef..

Amazing food and amazing people work here. I had the pulled pork po boy and it was so juicy and delicous. The frys here and the best ever. I will be come back everytime im in the area. An amazing ride with amazing food!

Great quality BBQ. We had chicken, ribs and the pulled pork sandwich. Nice location with good parking (a premium at S Lake Tahoe) and the bonus of live music while we were there. Trey Stone is always a solid jam.

The chicken for two was delicious. I recommend it. Lots of beer on tap awesome experience with the tap for beer bracelet. CLEAN GREAT ENVIRONMENT A MUST TRY.

The ribs were good but the chicken had them beat hands down! They weren't even in the same race. Fantastic chicken, flavor, seasoning and juicy.

Everything was so delicious. Daughter with dary allergy was able to eat the ribs and coleslaw. Staff really friendly. Gets busy there so go early to beat dinner crowd. Even had live music when we were there...

Good menu selection of burgers chicken and PO boy sandwich. The burgers were perfectly cooked and juicy. The onions rings were crunchy and well seasoned. The beer selection was great and pour and pay worked well. Staff was inviting and very helpful. Great spot to come spend some time on the outdoor patio. Convenient as they are right on HWY50. Worth the stop if you are in town.

Delicious BBQ, the best I’ve had in a long time. We shared the sampler and a burger and we both agreed every single thing was on point. I’m usually not wowed by chicken but wow, that chicken!!!

Brisket was also standout delicious as was the sauce. Even the cup of chili on the side tasted homemade and everything seemed really fresh, right down to the tomato on the burger.

We will not have a hard time deciding where to eat next time we’re in town!

I haven’t ever really had smokey barbeque like this before, but it was perfectly intense and lingering. Literally each and every bite of chicken was flavorful, tender, and juicy. Serving yourself from a selection of beers was fun as hell, even if I couldn’t figure out how to get less than 50% head. I wish that predicament applied in other areas of life.

We LOVED the ribs and BBQ sauce here. So much that in our 3-night Tahoe stay, we ate here twice for dinner. Once we ate in, the second time, we took it to go and ate in our rental. Easy order process, food came out quick.

The best chicken I have ever eaten in all my life! The sampler plate and the 1/4 chicken were simply amazing. Looking forward to eat at this place the next time I am in Lake Tahoe. Highly recommended!

The vibe in their new location is fantastic! Great music, cool adventure sports films playing, garage doors open with indoor and outdoor seating. Everything on the menu is delicious and the tap wall is super fun. This place has been one of our favorites in Tahoe for years and we are so happy they are now close to Whole Foods & Heavenly.

Hands down the best chicken in a barrel. It’s juicy,flavorful and moist. When we on 2nd day to buy whole chicken but they not ready yet in the morning. Definitely will come again when we visit South Lake Tahoe in future. Writing this and makes me craving that chicken! They also have other menu too.

Very flavorful. The onions were a great touch and the French fries were cooked to perfection. My buddy got the combo plate with the chicken and ribs and I was totally jealous. Gonna have to try that the next time I'm in the area.

The hubby and I were coming from Emerald Bay State Park and decided to head to downtown South Lake Tahoe. As we were driving, this place caught my eye and decided to try out their BBQ. All I can say is "WOW"...I ordered plate #3
(5 pieces of ribs), substituted the rice for corn bread. The meat was so flavorful, tender and smoked just right! My husband ordered plate#4 (1/4 chicken, 2 ribs). The chicken was moist, flavorful and just delicious! The staff was down to earth friendly.

BEST BBQ ON THE PLANET! You have to stop here when in South Lake Tahoe. Might not look like much from the street but their food is amazing! Prices are reasonable, portions are great and food is delicious. I am always skeptical to go to BBQ places because it tends to be dry BUT NOT HERE! We got the sampler platter - the meats were moist (not a single dry piece of anything!), not fatty, and so flavorful.
Sampler came with chicken quater, pulled pork, a pork rib, beef brisket, Chilli and a side of rice which we swapped out for oinion rings. They give you BBQ sauce on the side so you can add as much or as little as you want. They have an original and a hot BBQ sauce- hot was not spicy hot. They were both delicious! The Chilli is a love child between Chilli and baked beans... perfectly spiced with a little sweet.
We also ordered the chicken po'boy with pepper jack cheese. It was phenomenal! Bun was perfectly toasted; chicken was moist and flavorful; and just the right amount of slaw. Perfection! Added the fries with that. Fries were bomb too! Flavorful and crispy. Delicious!
Had to have dessert! Got an ice cream sandwhich- They had several flavors to choose from. All sounded amazing. I chose snickerdoodle cookie with a raspberry cheesecake ice cream middle. It was the perfect amount of cookie with lots of ice cream. It was also the perfect temp to eat! It wasn't frozen solid! I was able to sit and enjoy it right then. It topped off a perfect meal.
Staff was helpful and nice. Service was great. Outdoor seating was lovely on this warm June evening AND they even had live music. And you can watch then smoke the meats in the barrels out front. Great dining environment! We will definitely be back here!!! So good! I can't beleive I have waited this long to try this place.... when in SLT I will be stopping by for some amazing Hawaiian BBQ! Super delicious bbq is the last thing I expected to find while visiting Tahoe. I was about to walk into Whole Foods when the BBQ smell attacked me. I was instantly drawn to this place. Being from the deepest part of East Texas, bbq is easily my favorite food and Chicken In A Barrell did NOT disappoint.

The smoke on the meat was perfect in my opinion and it was seasoned to the Gods!! I got the Sampler plate which consisted of chicken, pulled pork, and a rib was smoked to absolute perfection.

Truth be told, this food tasted like home and I'm super glad I decided to stop here. Additionally, the customer service extended to me was world-class.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that this is the best bbq I've had since I've been in California. I've been here for 7 years now.

I had Chicken in a Barrel in Kauai 9 years ago and loved it! So I was surprised to see it in South Lake Tahoe and knew I had to have it again. The best part, the ¼ chicken lived up to my memory. Staff was very friendly and I had fast service despite them looking short staffed. A great hole in the wall kind of place. Don't expect anything from the building or indoor seating, but the food is delicious and well worth the stop. As pictured, I did take out and drove over to Pope Beach for a great dinner on the beach 😋

Came in 10 mins before closing and the lady working was extremely welcoming and friendly. Had classic rock playing and whipped up a really delicious burger in a few mins. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor since it was just a bacon cheeseburger, but it had a special sauce, veggies, crispy fresh bacon even a toasted bun. Our order of fries was huge and fresh too. Would for sure recommend!!
