This is a gem! Dwayne (I think that was his name) has created a nice space for campers. The grounds are very curated with wild life, cactuses, it seems like it’s always been there which is a sign of great skill. It felt like we were close to folks so we didn’t feel alone, but roomy enough where we had a good amount of privacy. Listening to all the different birds was a treat, too! The bathroom was fabulous! An actual plumbed toilet, sink and very hot shower. Each site also has electric hookups and a picnic table. It was $30 for the night which was very much worth it. We’ve been on the road for a week and this was a place we felt very comfortable and could relax for a bit.

This tucked away campground is just the most amazing little diamond in the desert. We arrived at nighttime after a few calls. The camp host met us on the road leading in after I did 2 turn arounds in a 57 foot rig. They have full service spots that are pretty still in touch with the surrounding NATL park. The camp hosts are just awesome people and exceedingly friendly. My daughter calls one host Aunt Pamela. There is a mini lookout tower that gives you a 360 view of the ranges surrounding the basin. The shower house is nice and clean. My suggestions to the owner would be 5-7 mores spots and little number signs. For being a Snowbird Nest, they let a family with kids in...so if you have kids, keep them quiet for the other guests. I will be back anytime I'm spending a weekend in Tucson!

I found out about Tucson Snowbird Nest through the Gilbert Ray Campground hosts. They often send overflow here, and I really appreciate it! Only fifteen minutes or so from the Tucson Mountain Park and the Saguaro National Park, this is a wonderful option. Duke and Sue are great hosts and really go out of their way to make folks feel comfortable and welcome. There are a few sites here with electrical hook ups, plenty of water, and hot showers to boot! A great place to stay for a night or several months. Thanks so much for making me and so many others feel welcome and well cared for!

Beautiful quiet desert location next to Saguaro National Park. Hosts are welcoming & helpful. I recommend calling ahead for availability. Abundant animals and plants. Incredible skies and occasional strong wind gusts. Coyotes and some rattlesnakes. About 20 minutes from an excellent grocery. About 40 minutes into downtown and/or a Whole Foods. Most sites lack full hook-ups. Good showers available in the bath house. Helpful community spirit pervades. Must drive a mile on a dirt road to find this little piece of paradise.

Wonderful oasis just outside Saguaro NP! Duke and Sue are very friendly, and offer the best deal on the area for tent campers and RVs alike.
Sites are well-groomed, and the atmosphere they have created is one of peace and serenity. The accommodations include fully plumbed and quaint bathrooms that include hot showers. Charcoal and gas grills were welcome at my time of stay with respect of the campground and future guests.
This place is a treasure, and I make it a point to give them my business if ever I'm in the area. I'd stay here before I would book in the park.
Please note that this place is not a great stay for loud parties, music and excessive alcohol consumption if that's your thing.
Bonus: there are lots of quail, roadrunners and beautiful songbirds that fly from saguaro to saguaro!

The location is an aptly named area outside of Saguaro National Park, with RV goers frequently staying in the property for long periods of time. They're called "snowbirds", and they're just retirees looking to escape the cold weather in the East and enjoy a nice vacation. The site located in the property has working showers and flushable toilets, and the whole area is serene, filled with songbirds, gilded flickers, quail, and many species of cacti for these birds to nest in. The owner was exceptionally kind, and it was a very hospitable location to be in after being redirected as overflow from the Gilbert Ray Campground staff.

Sun sets in the Sonoran Desert. It doesn’t get much better than this, sleeping in the desert. Met Duke and Susan who graciously welcomed us to their park. This is desert living. So quiet. If you are looking for space and peace in quiet this is the spot for you!!

An oasis in a “desert” full of crowded concrete RV parking pads that call themselves resorts! Quiet, well kept, beautiful landscaping, doves cooing and owls hooting 💙. Clean bathrooms , awesome hot showers. A little out of the way but SO worth it — close to Saguaro Nat’l Park West and Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. Down home hosts.

Amazing campsite. Duke keeps this place very clean and even has a roof top patio to few sunsets. He gave us some few lemons from his tree. The bathrooms are super clean with flush toilets and HOT showers. We highly recommend this place

This was an overnight stay, in this world of concrete slabs and parallel campsites, this little gem was natural and comfortable. Our site was electric only (20 amp) as expected and the setting nestled between saguaro, cholla and other succulents was perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed this location.

This place is a hidden gem. Seemed like mostly long term RVers but we tent camped a few nights and loved it. Relaxed and quiet atmosphere, nice bathrooms, close to Saguaro NP.
