Worth checking out for the history of the mine and surrounding area! Many of the building have been restored, tracks still run out of the mineshaft, and artifacts abound. Plus, there's a small waterfall nearby with a bench to enjoy the view and a snack!

A true find inside of Caribou Ranch Open Space. This historic location was a silver mining complex for 90 years. It's worth the hike along the old Switzerland Trail to get there. It's also a great spot to take a relaxing break alongside Boulder Creek.

We had a beautiful, peaceful snowshoe where we enjoyed a picnic lunch at the Blue Bird Mine. Sunshine; ~42F; no wind; we were alone the entire trip. We saw no one until we returned to the parking lot.

The trailhead parking at Caribou Ranch Open Space fills up frequently, but parking at Mud Lake Open Space is easy and adds a nice extension to the hike.
