A cozy place for reading and buying a wide variety of books. The store itself is a wonderful piece of history as well as great place to grab a gift for that one smart friend who’s hard to shop for.

Hands down, the BEST locally owned bookstore I’ve ever been to! It’s small, but they somehow always have everything I’m ever looking for and more. Love that they have a mix of new and used books and their accessories like socks, bags, and bookmarks make wonderfully unique gifts...sometimes for myself 😁

They always have a great selection of Harry Potter books and fun stuff to go along with it. The best part of the store is definitely the wardrobe. Step through it to Narnia aka the children’s books! It’s for the kids, but I’ve definitely stepped through it a time or two myself! 😊

I love the Burrowing Owl book store!! It has so many books that are hard to find these day, the pricing is amazing. I love that you can part with books you don't need or want, and you get store credit. I love that the store credit can be applied at both, the Amarillo store and the Canyon store. The books I've found there is staggering, and I will continue to be a customer there!!

Great for young and old alike, this store is stacked with every type of book you could ever want, from romance and action to self-help and cookbooks. Some books are new and some are used, but all are in good conditions. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is perfect for perusing for hours, complete with couches, chairs, and a wardrobe straight out of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Not a local myself, but I will be back when I'm in the area.

One of the owners, Dallas, was very friendly and helpful. I overheard her talking to a employee that seemed to be learning the ropes, and she was patient, calm and possessed a overall lovely demeanor throughout. The store itself was tidy and well organized with a larger variety of books than one would guess from a small store. I'm glad I stumbled upon this treasure chest.

Great find on our visit to Canyon TX. The staff was welcoming and helpful. One half of the store is fiction and the other half is nonfiction. They are mainly a used book store but they did have a great selection of new books. There is also a section of children and teen books. Towards the back of the store is an area with comfy seating to sit and relax for a moment. They also have a few gift items for sale. We will visit again soon.

Let me tell you. This book store is so beautiful. It is certainly a prize for the city of Canyon Texas. Worth every bit of your time in a visit there. It is stocked so well and covers every topic that a reader could want. Canyon Texas I know must be proud to call it their own. I found it during the difficult time of Covid, while businesses of any type no doubt struggle at best to keep their doors open. I am a writer of books and during these times with book signings on hold, this beautiful store ran by beautiful people accepted my book and me, into their store. It's owner Dallas Bell, was so gracious toward my wife and myself on our visit there and even through masks, we could still feel her smile and warm wishes for my first published novel, "The Reckoning of Rance," to be there, as well as being listed at amazon. Thank you Dallas for being so accepting of us. I will never forget our meeting and cannot wait for our chance for another visit with you there.

Such a great place to go and visit, discover new books, sit relax and enjoy the quiet surroundings and read a good book. The staff here is very helpful kind and generous. I always look forward to coming to Canyon cuz I know the bookstore is always going to give me new exciting things to look at and read. highly recommend if you're traveling through the area you got to stop and pay a visit to the burrowing owl.

A quaint, comfortable establishment with a little something for everyone. Their selection is not very large, but they keep it very organized and clean. There are places to sit and read and plenty of classics on the shelves. Definitely give The Burrowing Owl a visit and you may find yourself falling in love with it.

Visited the one in Amarillo and it was such a great atmosphere! The sweet ladies made my girls feel comfortable and showed them around the kids section and never made them or I feel like they were burdensome, like you get in some places. It was a quaint little place and my girls and I will certainly be regulars there from now on.

We stopped in to this charming bookstore on a whim and we were absolutely smitten! They have a mix of new and old and the staff and owner were helpful and knowledgeable! It’s charming and a great place to pick up a new vacation read!

Burrowing owl is a light in the panhandle! They are great people who provide a place to find amazing books. Whether you are looking for a great novel or amazing political works. This is a great place to find something new that will help grow you intellectually. I am so thankful for Burrowing owl and I hope everyone in the panhandle decides to drop in to check out their great selection.

Burrowing Owl is like my Narnia; I can spend hours, sitting on the floor in the "classics" section trying to unearth a treasure. I have never been dissappointed and always walk out of there with a new collectible. Pro tip: always check there first when buying books for classes at WT.

Canyon now boasts the best independent bookstore in the Texas Panhandle. I feel really lucky to live so close to Burrowing Owl. And really nice folks, too.
