Something has happened that challenges the ethics of how CARS Collision conducts its business with USAA and customers of USAA. With me paying the deductible and no estimate submitted to USAA, CARS Collision would have been free to raise the estimate after I departed, and no one would likely learn what happened. If you are are a USAA member, you should consider that my experience with CARS Collision Center was poor enough, that USAA has found it necessary to conduct an audit due to questionable practices. My car was “repaired”without USAA approval. When I logged my complaint with USAA on 08DEC2017, USAA did not have any record that my car had been worked on by the shop. I complained of shoddy workmanship, and USAA was not pleased that I had been made to pay the deductible before being able to review the work, only to find that damage was not corrected, and additional damage was done to the vehicle. USAA will now have to pay to have my car repaired at both the dealership and another USAA approved collision repair center. CARS employees told USAA they missed a part, well you cannot ignore the scratches put into the bumper to replace the parking sensor. They also did not repair transfer damage where the construction cone transferred white plastic to my vehicle. Every bit that CARS Collision touched and supposedly repaired is flawed. USAA is going to dig deep into what happend. This is my second subpar experience with CARS Collision this year.

There is nothing CARS Collision can due at this point to make it right except to refund my deductible, and I’ll take the vehicle somewhere else. The deductible was required of me under false pretenses. I would not have paid them had I known USAA had not authorized the repairs. I say this because like most insurance companies, the repairs are guaranteed for the remainder of ownership, and in this instance USAA was wholly unaware CARS Collision had performed any work on behalf of USAA, and charged me a deductible before repairs were authorized with USAA.

Whether this is negligence or nefarious, CARS Collision has quite a bit to explain. I’m sure the owner will want me to return with the vehicle, but that is not going to happen. I’ll let USAA delve into the problem. If I have to engage CARS Collision it will be at the courthouse. Pictures are supposedly worth a thousand words, and I took plenty. The staff had little to say after I showed them the before and after pictures.
