Enjoyed stopping while traveling through. The man was very kind to give me a whole “tour” of the store and educate me on the differences between water kefir and kombucha and let me try some samples. They were all delicious and I ordered a kombucha on draft. I’ll be back, thank you SMC!

Awesome store with a wide variety fermented goodies! Space has an esthetically cool vibe. Tried and loved many flavors of kombucha and kefir water, got two growlers to go! Bought some yummy smoked jalapeño sauerkraut big on flavor and smoother than commercially produced krauts. The chili garlic sauce is exciting!
Support this incredible local owned business that hand crafts all these wonderful treats that also bring good health!!

I shop at Short Mountain Cultures at least once or twice a week, and every time I walk in I get a huge smile on my face. The store offers many nourishing foods that are made with care and love by the owners and employees. They also sell locally grown and made produce and other items, that build strong connection between farmers, food producers and consumers.

But the thing I love the most about the store is Hannah’s generosity and commitment to high standards and to fostering community; John’s passion and knowledge of fermentation; and the friendliness of everyone else who works there.

The Cultures store doesn’t only make and sell food; it also weaves community.
If I could give them 6 stars out of 5 i would.

SMC is a godsend of a store to the local community. It’s the only place near the mountain to get high quality groceries, and their fermentations are not only uniquely spectacular locally but unrivaled on a national scale. The owners are wonderful humans who built the business from the ground up out of their passion for the craft & their dedication to community. They are deeply caring people who have created a rare space for all disparate parts of the local community to feel welcomed & have access to healthy healing foods, as well as art, home goods & more from local creators. I don’t know how I would have made the transition to the area without this place. Their ferments are so magical I brought a whole mixed basket of items to my dear friend’s wedding out of state and they were all a huge hit! Love this place and all the people who work there. Absolutely indispensable!

This place is simply magical. Attended a fermentation workshop with one of the leaders in the field. Bought Koji and Kombucha starters. Sampled their salami's and cheeses and Tempeh and Kombucha and Kefir. All outstanding offerings. I've been buying their sauerkrauts and mustards for a long time at the Produce Place in Nashville. Met one of the owners who was exceedingly nice and helpful, as were all the employees. Being an hour from my home, I won't be going as often as I would otherwise, but it's certainly worth a monthly afternoon trip. I plan on taking more workshops as well, I learned so much from the one I took.

It’s lovely to see this spot grow over the years. When I started to go here is was all homemade ferments that made my gut feel great! Now a days, it’s grown into a locally focused market where you can get everything from a beer/ferment starter kit, local produce, books on how to, conscious household items, and even some bulks goods. This spot is worth a visit, your belly will thank you.

I'm new to the area and have a new vegan in my household. The staff at Short Mountain Cultures was super helpful in selecting items that would be easy for me to prepare and delicious too.

With regard to the pandemic and closures you can look at their inventory online and text or call your order in and they bring it out to your car. Which is awesome!

I didn't know what I wanted or needed, so when I called in, the owner talked me through what I could get started with. (The fresh mushrooms were unbelievably good!)

This is a great store and I'm glad I found them. I'll definitely be back.

Short Mountain Cultures is amazing. Locally sourced veggies, flowers, goodies and of course house made ferments and beverages. Great resource for high quality food. Get the garlic pepper sauce and bring a growler!

I love their kvass and water kefirs. This was my first time at the store, as I usually get their products through Stones River Market. Love the little shop and its variety.

Great selection of fermented, local and artistic products. We try and stop in at least once a week to see what is new. The staff are so friendly, helpful and kind. They also will do call ahead orders and curbside pickup.

Not only the only place in Woodbury to offer many of these foods, such as tempeh and tofu, but easily one of the best and friendliest in the state of Tennessee.
