The Emerald Golf Course

The only thing better than the food and the service are the golf course conditions, and the food and the service are phenomenal! Make sure The Emerald is on your list to play. Private golf conditions at a great public rate provided by fantastic people!

Played one week ago, April 10. The course was phenomenal as always, especially this early. The greens were as good as I've seen ever in the spring out here, and still rolling mighty quick. Staff very accommodating with getting me out on #10, with no bottleneck at #1. It's $64 all the time, with some twilight specials daily.

The. Best. Value. In the Lansing area, IMO. Resort "up north" feel. Tee boxes and greens are exceptional. (Greens are very fast, but hold well on chips). Gorgeous layout. Great use of natural space. Clubhouse and amenities are just fine. Exceptional for the price! Fairways and ground are well kept up, and there is a fair amount of penalty for going in the rough but not crazy-long. Can get crowded.

The good: layout, greens, fairways, challenge, amenities, carts, beverage and food selection, "fun" factor....but mostly PRICE. $69 for 18 holes on this caliber course is great, but it gets jaw-dropping when you do unlimited and do 36-45 holes in a day. Resort quality course close to Lansing. Staff is friendly. Carts were newer and well equipped.

The bad: (knit picking here, because the value is SO high)
The location is quite a bit north of Lansing. (30 minutes) which is not a big deal...just be aware that it's a little bit of a drive.
Pace of play can get funky at times. Lots of people want to play this course, so you may be waiting a bit. Not bad, but I'd inflate your pace of play by 15 minutes per 9. There are spots where the fairways/course can get a bit rough (for the price point, these are small quibbles)
One or two holes are a bit overly punitive...though for me that increases the fun factor...my group (which included some high handicappers) not so much.
If you are new to the game...it's gonna eat you up a bit.

In summary, just an exceptional value. Resort quality course with a great staff and some signature holes. Spectacular use of the terrain. Could be a bit "fancier" but at this price point it seems extravagant.

In St John’s to visit with friends and family and played the Emerald with a 7:50 a.m. tee time. Course in spectacular shape. Greens are impeccable shape and very fast (nice) the way they should be. I’m from Florida and I love coming to this course. Two thumbs up!!

Held a veteran golf outing here. Really a suprising hidden gem. Very nice layout. Greens have to be 12 - 13 stimp. Very nice staff. We'll come back.

What a great course. Beautiful bent grass fairways and perfectly manicured greens that are smooth and fast. The price is very good for the quality of the course.

Rained pretty much all day, staff were very nice and helpful, course was good, greens were really fast

Played with a group of 4 and the course was fantastic. The greens were very fast, but very fair. Tee boxes and fairways were in great condition too. Overall very beautiful, fun, challenging course. Got my first eagle too!

Food was good too. I’d recommend ordering on the screen on the cart a few holes before you’re done and your food will be ready when you get in.

Went to a baby shower here. The pizza was to die for. Would recommend doing gatherings here

I have played this course a few times. It’s always in great shape. The fairways are immaculate and the greens are like glass. Very challenging but absolutely love it. My favorite course to play. Not my best scoring course but again, love it. Top notch staff and good eats after playing .

One of my favorite courses, always in great shape with some of the fastest greens around. Staff are very friendly also.

The staff was amazing and very friendly; from our arrival in the parking lot we were greeted with a cart and the rest of the staff was very helpful. The course was in fantastic shape and played fast. Carts are great and the gps feature is nice if you don't have a range finder. Worth every penny.

First time golfing at The Emerald and I loved it. Will definitely come back next year. Rained for almost the entire round and was cold. The greens were fast which surprised me for being in such a wet condition. Fairways and rough were in excellent condition. Greens were in great shape. Quite a few elevation changes, elevated tee boxes or elevated greens. Overall I will be back hopefully on a better weather day! Also will play more than one round in a day. Thanks!

7/6/21 Senior Golfer: Fairways & greens in great shape. Everything is lush and green. Course is in best condition I have ever played.

6/29/20 Senior Golfer. Driving range great. Fairways good to hit ball from and greens fast. For a Senior golfer very fair and enjoyable course. Will be playing again next month.

The course is just beautiful, very nicely groomed, greens in excellent condition and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this course, it suits all level of players and the green fees are reasonable for a great experience. 👍
