Luis is fantastic and so on top of things. My fiance and I had a burger and it was so fresh and tasty. Highly recommend as travel photographer from Galena.

So we were in Galena for 4 days. There are a good amount of places but we loved this one so much we ended up eating there three times. That chicken is amazing. I live next to Chicago so I have plenty of options and this is right up there with them but without the steep price tag (for the amount you get, it's very reasonable) and it feels like you are in your mom's/grandma's kitchen, and who doesn't love that? The staff are great. Super friendly (I kept hearing the Cheers themesong in my head) and hilarious. The night we got dessert my mom didn't want any but my dad did so she asked if he wanted an extra spoon, to which he replied it will be the wife portion. She came back with the regular dessert and a mini version with a tiny spoon. She gave that to my dad and gave the regular sized one to my mom. Needless to say we were all dying in laughter. This is why this place is great.

Food was fantastic all three of us enjoyed our meals.. be prepared for the stairs to get inside. All in all a good pick and wasn't busy on Mother's Day!

Great lunch spot! Chicken salad on croissant has a very unique flavor with not a lot of mayo which I loved! BLT was loaded with bacon. Chargrilled burger was quickly devoured! Homemade chicken 'n dumplings was yummy! Quick service!

Tons of homemade menu items. We had burgers. The patty was fresh made not frozen. All the sauces are homemade and full of favor. The potato chips are also homemade. The bottled beer was ice cold!

Best rueben sandwhich my wife or i ever had. We tried to think of one that came close but couldnt. I would eat here again.

I visited this Monday and ordered the chicken salad sandwich with potato salad. The chicken salad was so good! They have gluten-free bread. We got our food fairly quickly as we were the only group there. I highly recommend this restaurant for lunch for your trip to Galena.

What a wonderful, yummy place to grab food. For medical reasons, I am not able to eat beef or pork. I have had this dietary restriction for a year. I have never seen a duck burger on a menu and went for it. For the first time in a whole year, I genuinely enjoyed a real animal meat burger. I was lickin the plate the food was so yummy. I had such a great time with my friends at this restaurant. The server was so nice and I will 100% come here again soon.

What a hidden gem! The food was excellent! If you want superb home style cooking this is your place. I had the beyond burger with home made potato salad. The pudding bread dessert was tasty! Family owned. You can tell they put their heart into this place. Peggy our bartender/server was the best!
This will be our go to place next trip and every trip to Galena!

Wanted fried chicken & came to get it. Crispy & crunchy & not at all greasy served with fries & a slice of garlic bread- delicious!

Ate there twice while we spent a few days in Dubuque. SO glad we found this place!!! In this age of rush-rush-rush, this place was a breath of fresh air. The food was wonderful, and makes you appreciate a traditional restaurant versus fast-paced bar food. If you want a meal prepared with the same care that Grandma used on a Sunday family dinner, this is the place. One of Galena's best-kept secrets.

Well worth the climb of a few stairs to a pleasant homestyle eatery. Excellent service and the crab Louis was definitely a tasty treat.
My wife had the chicken puff pastry as the special of the day along with the homemade potato salad. The wine was excellent. Everything is homemade at market house restaurant.

Excellent eating experience, from walking in the door and being greeted by staff, seated and drink order taken immediately. Meal was served hot and excellent taste. Server was very friendly and helpful. There are very few places offering vegetarian / vegan choices but The Market House has a nice selection to choose from and the veggie burger is plant-based "Beyond Beef" burger that is fantastic!

the staff is friendly and efficient and the food is great. The grilled cheese and tomato soup is an all-time comfort food favorite. And the tomato soup is an excellent homemade recipe. Also crab salad is available as a side on many of the menu options. And it is excellent. Well worth climbing the flight of stairs to reach the dining room

This family-run restaurant adds a dash of charm to every dish. Featuring a nearly entirely homemade menu, Market House features comfort food staples in generous portions. Items are clearly listed as “fried” or “grilled,” giving the customer the opportunity to decide how healthy (or not) to make their meal. I ordered a grilled chicken breast sandwich, and while the bun was nothing to write home about, the chicken was juicy and fresh. I didn’t have an opportunity to try dessert, but the pies are homemade and incredibly enticing. The restaurant itself is a little dated, but it adds to the charm; this place has been around for several generations, and it appears to have stayed true to its roots.

really really enjoyed this place! if you're coming from the main street in town, it's a lot of stairs to get up. if you're coming from the other side it's not so hard, plan accordingly if you have trouble walking.

the food was great, the crab salad was awesome, the owners were really friendly and so was our waitress. I'll definitely go back here. was told they have a friday fish fry (which we missed unfortunately) but next time we're in the area we are definitely going to try it out.

After another long weekend in Galena, once again the Market House, hands down, had the best food in town. Everything was wonderful. I find it amazing that people have had bad experiences here. The Almond Breaded Duck Tenders were out of this world. The Beer Cheese soup was the best I have ever had. Can't wait to go back!!!
