I'm not from Charleston but I work here, and I feel very safe parking in this garage at all hours. It is very well lit and very clean. I recommend it for anyone visiting or working downtown.

Most conveniently located city garage to Capitol St/Slack Plaza. Free after 5pm and weekends (unless the city changes it). They don't always put out the free parking sign. Avoid parking here during parades, you will be stuck. Cheaper parking on the roof that takes quarters. Most parking spots are reserved, only a few on each level you can actually park during the day and you need an annoying app to pay for it.

YIKES! They accept checks and cash but no credit card. Thankfully the sign at the entry gate explains that -- BUT no way to back out!! Had to get ticket and might tight turn to get to booth. The person in the booth was very nice and told me all parking in Charleston WV only accept cash and checks.
