The only major battle outside Virginia that was very early in the Civil War took place during the week of Valentine's Day 1860. It's a short drive from my house in Clarksville. In fact I grew up in that legendary and historic community, Dover, Tennessee.

There were other factors making Dover and Ft. Donelson, memorable from a historic standpoint. The biggest of which was that in charge of the Union troops was President Lincoln's newly-appointed General, who many rumored that he was an alcoholic, Ulysses S Grant. Grant wanted to prove himself and this was his opportunity the week prior t Fort Donelson he had taken Fort Henry that was guarding the Tennessee River. The larger anFort Donelson guarded the Cumberland River and Nashville the capital of Tennessee but in the case of Fort Henry all the troops left before abandoning yet prior to Grant attacking those troops came to Fort Donelson now 30 to 40 thousand humans on each side of the and barricades ready to kill one another. The only people to successfully leave Fort Donelson pryor to its defeat & surrender was another future, famous officer. But he was on the Confederate side. His name was Colonel Nathan Bedford Forrest. He and his small band of personally hand-picked troops who would come legendary and never b refused to listen to those in charge of the Confederate troops and was encouraged to join them or leave them he left them Gathering his troops many of whom were friends and literally weighted across the Cumberland River escaping without a shot being fired by either side. The battle would begin the following day lasting several as the outnumbered Confederate troops soon asked for conditions for their surrender.

Another historical event was to happen as a result of that request for terms of surrender still standing in Downtown hotel. New progress there were other factors making Dover & Fort Donelson memorable & historic. The biggest of which was that in charge of the union troops was president Lincoln's newly appointed general, Ulysses s grant. Grant wanted to prove himself and this was his opportunity the week prior the 4 dolphin he had taken fort henry that was guarding the tennessee river as dolphin guards the Cumberland & Nashville, the capital of tennessee.Tennessee in the case of fort henry all the troops left before abandoning yet prior to grant attacking does poops came before dolphin mel 30 to 40,000 humans on each side of the princes and barricade student ready to kill 1 other the only people to successfully we've 4 dolphin pryor 2 its does the answering her what's another would be famous 1 day officer but he's with all the confederate flag. Is 9 carmel nathan bedford forrest oldest and his small band of person we can pick troops we come to see you before dolphin refuse to listen to those in charge of the confederate trips and was in courage to join them or we them the westin gabrielle hib maybe you can were friends and literally waded across the Cumberland River that they were charged with defending, without even a single shot being fired. After the war that officer who was he only one to avoid surrender and capture, became famouse (or infamous) for being an organizer and first leader of the Ku Klux Klan. He is today known as the Founder of this group that still exists but is very different than it was in it's beginning and fromthe intent of the original members and For rest. They had started a social club for confederate soldiers in their hometown of Pulaski, Tennessee. But / soon others heard of this, started the err ur / own local club and soon some became well known for the bad things they did like killing and lynching. And it wasn't their relatives or friends that they were killing. Those negative, hateful acts soon became all that Nathan Forrests organization was known for which has now led to being the history people are taught about The Klan or Forrest.

But now escaping in order to live and fight again another day.

But decide but the babel with again the following day lasting several days negotiations soon big a_m park
