The site was fantastic! It was plenty big enough for our group and very affordable! There was running (nonpotable) water, a nice bathroom facility and it wasn't too far from the bath houses. The only downside, was nothing to do with the site itself, but with the "neighbors" who decided to show up at 11pm, then set up a super high powered led light strip that was bright enough to make it seem like midday at 3am. They completely ruined any plans for stargazing in the mountains. I only include that to say to other possible campers to be respectful of people around you that are sharing the outdoors with you.

Dundo was an enjoyable experience. Site 3 isn’t as roomy as some of the photos online would imply, but is the only site with tree cover—which provided a nice shaded canopy when the sun was overhead and a little protection on rainy afternoons. One drawback of this campsite’s proximity to the trees were the number of ticks—I picked over a dozen off my dogs the first night, yikes!

There’s no way 20 people would fit comfortably on site 3–maybe 10 max, or 4 tents. Site two, which is next to 3 is quite roomy but has no protection from the sun. You could fit 5-6 tents on the site. Site 1 is across the road and up a very slight hill and is the largest and more solitary of the three. You could fit 6 tents easily on the site.

The picnic grounds are on the opposite side of the camground from the tent sites, and each end has its own bathroom so there’s very little interaction with picnicking guests. As the road running through the campground is one way, you’ll get a little bit of through traffic and drive-bys. We took to waving at people as they drove by staring at us huddled under a canopy during a brief rainy spell one afternoon!

Maintenance was very attentive over the holiday weekend, emptying trash and cleaning the bathrooms. Be warned, these are vault toilets, so on hot days they can get a little stinky, but you’re not coming here for luxury. Overall the campground is comfortable, well-maintained, and an ideal spot for group camping, with showers and a camp store just a 5 min drive up the road to Loft Mountain. Also can’t beat the access to the AT, and other scenic trails directly from this campground.

Doesn't look like camping is still allowed there - it's a strictly picnic area now, for day use only.

It's a nice picnic area though.
Plenty of parking, picnic tables, bear boxes.
Pit toilets. Water spigots (the water has to be treated!)

Water fountains are off - ranger explained that water is no longer safe to drink, so they had to shut it.

Less than a hundred feet from Appalachian trail - good place to take a break from hiking

Fine place for pitching a tent. There are bathrooms there and potable water available. It is not a very large site which means not many other people there. I believe there are picnic tables too. And it is very close to the Appalachian Trail. You are supposed to pay the park service to Camp here. But I don't think they would have forced that for thru-hikers
