Java's Veterinary Center

I have had a few experiences with Java's, and they have all been five-star. Dr. Perez first saw my older dog when she was at the end of life. He treated her immediately, which helped temporarily, but we knew her time was limited. When it came time to euthanize her, Dr. Perez did so with kindness, compassion, and a gentle demeanor. We appreciated him and the entire staff during that difficult day.
After a while, we adopted two more dogs, and have brought them here for care, to both Dr. Perez and Dr. Hagelund. After the fire, we saw Dr. Hagelund, and she also provided high-quality and prompt care.
We have never had trouble getting an appointment, appreciate their transparency with the costs, and recommend their services to others.

They have always done everything they could to help out. After my friend's dog died in our van in the parking lot of Parvo they tested her single puppy right away and gave him preventives just in case. Since he had only had his first round of vaccines. (He was just barely old enough to get his first shot). It's a crying shame their beautiful building burned down.

I don’t give reviews very often, but I felt it necessary to chime in here. I see a lot of negative reviews. We had called in advance, made an appointment for the initial consultation, and also had booked surgery for the next day for dental work for our 16 year old Cocker spaniel poodle mix (Cockapoo). When we arrived for the initial consultation, we were greeted by a couple of very friendly faces at the front desk, and escorted to a room almost immediately. Within two minutes Dr. Perez came in and I wasn’t sure what to expect because of so many negative comments on here about his personality, demeanor, etc.. Granted, he is not the Smiley type, but he was very thorough with his exam, even told us that our dog has a heart condition, that I had not even mentioned, but knew that he did have some issues like quite a murmur that has gotten worse over the last few years. Dr Perez could very well have said we were good to go, see you tomorrow and we would be out 4- $500.00 to get most of his teeth removed, but he recommended against doing surgery on our dog, because of his age, and his heart condition. I appreciated his honesty so much that I felt I had to give this review. Thank you Dr. Perez.

Brought my two tabbies in to get spayed. My first experience with a veterinarian. He was very loving and gentle with my two lil cats. We did an initial check up for their first visit to make sure they are healthy for surgery. Their second visit was their spay. The staff is very knowledgeable and gave me presurgery instructions. My two girls are 6 days out from their spay and are back to their normal selves with no issues of infection. The vet is funny as well so it makes it easier to seek animal care. The only suggestion I have is to put their signs higher up on the entrance poles as it’s easy to drive right by without noticing.

As a retired Canadian who is on a tight budget, I needed to find a reliable and trustworthy vet for my dogs, and one that would not over charge me.
I did my research and found Java vet clinic.
The staff is friendly and amazing. The vet was awesome. He did his job. My dogs are happy and are now fully vaccinated, microchipped and living a spoiled lifestyle!

Wow they saw Keri right away and treated her with compassion.

I had an emergency with my little Pomeranian mix elderly lady-dog, and I haven’t liked my experiences at other vets in the area. I have a lot of animals and I have moved all over the country and even back and forth to Hawaii with all my cats and dogs…any even some chickens….which is labor intensive and very costly, but shows you how much I love my animals. I also rescued dogs and cats off the Big Island during the volcano eruption in 2018. So I have seen a lot of vets. I can’t stand a vet’s office that feels like a shopping mall, with ads on some big screen and a constant turn around of vets and techs. It just feels like a money making place that lacks the heart of a quiet vet who is competent and, most importantly, has real heart.
So when I walked into Java clinic, the same day that I reached out for assistance btw, with my little Pom girl, it was the antithesis of the “shopping mall vet.” It’s a very nice quiet place, but has the feeling of competence.
I knew my girl had serious bladder stones but with her age and her heart murmur, surgery was always a sketchy option. Dr. Perez isn’t a man who will walk in with small talk and a glib smile, but refreshingly, he was very focused on my dog, and knew exactly what was going on in a matter of minutes. I knew as well too because I had taken her to several vets. He recommended surgery, right then and there.
I was hesitant because I didn’t know him, and am not the kind of person who trusts anyone with my pets. He told me the odds were 50/50. But he was going to check her during after hours which is very important to me, since I lost a dog after she was spayed because no one was in the office to check on her after closing time.
I agreed to the surgery.
I picked her up the next morning, and she looked great! I have never since any of my pets look so well after surgery. The stone was the size of a small egg! He obviously took very good care of her, and treated her with kindness and sensitivity. She is urinating normally! And he charged half of what the other vets had told me it was going to be.
I will be taking my other animals to Java Clinic while I am in the area.

She is on the mend and has a new lease on life.

Dr. Perez is a great vet and always treats our two cats with care. My husband and I appreciate his directness and expedient treatment. We look forward to the opening of his new location and pray for comfort amid the loss of his clinic.

Dr. Perez & his staff were able to get my dog in on the day I called, after her normal vet (of 6+ years) was unable to give us an appointment for multiple days. Dr. Perez listened to my concerns and talked me through various ideas on how to resolve them. He doesn’t price gouge either, unlike other offices in the North Country. We will be using this office for all of our family pets going forward.

I’ve known Wilfredo since he came to town. His old book keeper is a dear friend and he’s always been my fur babies veterinarian. Always fair and never afraid to tell me when I need to do better for my animals. He is a blessing for our community.

Dr. Perez saved my dogs life. I phoned every vet in the north country including my long time vet town and country and they refused emergency care to my dog. His staff were incredibly kind and caring. Another thing to note is it’s not about the money there and so many places it is these people actually care about the animals. I was blown away by the care and affordability they offer. I am forever grateful! Only place I will ever take my pets in this area again!

Took my older dog there twice for teeth extractions. Was able to pick her up same day, and the price was much better than what the local vets near me were quoting. Highly recommend.

Just leaving after a late night emergency with my 6mo old puppy pooping blood. Dr. Perez was calm kind and professional. Emergency price was more than reasonable. If I lived closer, this would be our family veterinarian!

First time there, everyone was courteous, they saw my dog immediately and he was well cared for. The price was great. Couldn't ask for more thus far!!

Edit: Have returned 2 more times with my cat and still happy as could be with the care, appointment availability and pricing.

Great experience. Emergency visit for my daughter's 3 month old Jack Russell. They are from Ohio. He fell about 8ft down stairs. He has a fracture and vet gave us some meds. I will probably change my vet.

Our dog had surgery on a Tuesday in Ogdensburg and her regular vet was away. Every vet I contacted was either full with appointments or refused to see her, as I believed she was having a medical emergency. Dr. Java was able to get us in quickly and reassured us that a few stitches had let loose and our dog would be fine. Her pain was due to her sedation finally wearing off and was something she would adjust to. I was very pleased with Dr. Java and his staff and beyond thankful for their willingness to see my dog when noone else could or would!

The Java Clinic is beautifully maintained and always impeccably clean. Staff are friendly and accommodating and the Doctor, while hard to understand through the accent, is incredibly perceptive and great with my cats. My family has brought their animals here and will continue to do so. I understand this is a business and their prices are fair and they provide you with options prior to making any decisions.

My only qualm is that the cats didn't like the food the Doc wanted them to eat, but that's on them not him.

My dog has a broken nail, they were warm and calming to him while doing the procedure. I called in the morning and they took us a few hours later!

The new facility situated behind the old location has officially opened today and it's an amazing comeback from the unfortunate lots. With the same personal and amazing service that we've all grown to love from Java's Vet Center !!!
