Cragun's Resort

My wife and I stayed here for a friends wedding and had a wonderful time. The resort is like a trip into the past and feels like a true Minnesota “up-north” experience. There are a large variety of lodging options available, some modern, some vintage, and the lodge is a fascinating structure in itself. Beautiful location, friendly staff, reasonable rates. We hope to come back this summer or next for an extended stay in the summer to experience all that Cragun’s has to offer!

Views at Craguns of Gull Lake are breathtaking, the location makes for a beautiful view during sunrise and sunset, or any time in-between. The rooms are still being upgraded, cabins are a little outdated but cozy. Staff and Service were excellent.

Front desk staff while we were checking in were excellent. Very good at explaining what was going on. We came during off season on a Monday and Tuesday, so they didn't have the buffet Tuesday morning. They made that clear and gave us room service options instead.
So we get to the room and it is beautiful! Nice theming in all the rooms, very lakeside cabin-esque. The room is clean, everything is set up nice, a reasonable amount of toiletries to last for two nights, which is nice, because usually you have to go ask for more. They no longer offer daily room cleanings, they just clean in between stays. That wasn't a problem, we usually leave the do not disturb sign up anyway. They gave us lots of towels because of that too. The beds are surprisingly soft, and so are the pillows. No bedbugs, I checked under the sheets and mattress.
The room service was decent. Two main dishes per person, and one drink. They didn't skimp on anything, which was a surprise.
The pool is huge! Like I said, came during off season, so practically empty. There's a hot tub too, but that was popular. Towels were fully stocked at the pool, they have a bar out there for drinks and snacks, and a drink vending machine.
The breakfast buffet was ok, not the best by any means, but not bad either. Good selection, lots of food. Not the best system for heating the food, but it's understandable. I figured we would have to take care of our own plates, but they had staff to take care of dishes for us!
Check out was smooth, the lady at the desk was nice.

This was a great option to gather for Thanksgiving. Our adjoining rooms were clean and spacious. Beautiful view of the lake. Plenty of towels and toiletries.
It was SO easy to enjoy the Thanksgiving buffet. No mess to clean up! Amazing charcuterie table and scrumptious desserts. Breakfast buffet had lots of good options. Easy early check-in and no rushed check-out at 11. All kinds of activities during the day. Really nice big pool and we took advantage of a small, more private room with a hot tub and sauna. All staff was friendly and helpful. This is a classic resort with a lot of history that has been well maintained and updated.

Fun and relaxing! Lydia the activities coordinator was terrific. Jacob security/ shuttle driver was prompt and courteous.

The lake is beautiful!! Staff is awesome, rooms are clean. Just don't smell like the electric lettuce or a BARB will call security...
And they will notify you that smoking (cannabis included) IS allowed anywhere outside the hotel rooms. Super nice folks thanks for a great stay!!!

This was an unbelievable vacation for our family!! We stayed in one of the houses with other families and we all had a great time!! We did have a small problem with water leaking into a basement bedroom but, they were very accommodating and made things right. Very pleased with everyone there and we will definitely be back!!

Wow what a great experience all together. Great fishing first off and that was the bonus. Cabin was super clean with everything you need for a comfortable stay. I highly recommend and will be returning for another visit very soon.10 of 10 for me.

Party Time Rental, Inc provided Canopy tables/chairs etc. for our son & daughter in law at the Craguns Resort this past weekend. We could not have asked for better service, hospitality and venue. Staff was so accommodating and kind. Rooms were super clean and beautiful! Food - exceptional! The CAKE - Amazing!

So after hearing about how cool Cragun’s was for so many years I finally had the opportunity to stay for several days while I shot a wedding there and it ended up being just an absolute magical time. There seemed to be so many activities constantly going on like water sports, fire pits, boating, golf, etc. The staff that I had contact with felt very down to earth and accommodating for our wants and needs. My wife and I stayed in a room connected to one of the main buildings. I would say the building and the room were definitely a little old and dated but also very rustic and comfortable feeling. The morning we left I remember waking up to an incredible moody fog that was lifting and there were all sorts of little chipmunks, squirrels, and birds right outside of our balcony that over looked Gull lake amidst the gorgeous pine trees on the property! I can’t wait to go back!

I gave this place an overall 5 star review because the location is beautiful and the people are wonderful! I really wish they would update the resort, however, as it is very outdated. That is the only thing I would suggest! Other than that, it’s a great space!

I'm glad you were able to accommodate us on short notice, we were celebrating our 29th anniversary, very relaxing. We were able to squeeze in a round of golf and even played the gravel pit course, which was a blast

It is very best to stay and enjoy the beautiful nature. We just booked a 1-day trip and fantastic. Fire at outdoor , Indore swimming pool ( cold and hot water ), ice skating, and ice hockey practice areas are very good . Excellent American breakfast. We done snow mobile , skating, snow tube and just tried ice hockey with ball.

This property is absolutely iconic. It feels like a wholesome Summer camp. Fantastic golf, a crystal clear lake, tons of activities for adults and kids, two pools, and a family atmosphere make this resort the perfect family getaway. Dining at Irma's was fantastic. I tried the pot roast the first evening, and the cornbread bacon stuffed pork chop the second night. The property was busy while we were there, but still had plenty of space to spread out as the resort covers quite a bit of acreage. Rooms were clean with ample space (we stayed in the lodge). We will definitely return.

After spending 30+ years at Breezy Point over New Years, we changed to Craguns and we were so much happier! It is an older resort but lots of upgrades and remodels have been done. What we really liked was feeling welcomed by staff... every single one of them from the bar, pool area, housekeeping, marina, ect were so friendly and helpful. They really want you to enjoy your vacation and offer whatever they can to make your stay great! We booked next year's New Year's vacation already... can't wait to go back!

My husband and I wanted to check out a resort in the Brainerd area for our family summer vacation this year. After reviewing the options, we decided on Craguns and I am so happy we did. Our kids (ages 5-11) had so much fun swimming in the pools and playing on the beach. We stayed in a Queen suite and it was the perfect amount of space for our big family. The room was clean, updated, and we had a beautiful view of Gull Lake from the balcony. We rented a pontoon boat from the resort marina one of the days we were there and it was a blast. All in all, we had a fabulous time. In fact, we already booked a stay in December with additional family members to check out the resort in the winter time.

We had my daughter's wedding at Cragun's. I highly recommend this venue. They were married outside in front of the lake and it was so beautiful. Staff is very responsive. Everything went perfect!

I write this review as I enjoy the night air from the balcony of our room. This has been a fantastic stay despite our choice of seasonal time frame for our visit (between winter season, and summer season so not many options for activities) but that's on us. Our room was fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed the nice large pool area, and hot tub. The breakfast was great. The staff were very friendly, and welcoming. We also played a few rounds of disc golf on the course here. It is a very small course but still alot of fun. The buildings, and grounds were kept very neat and clean aside from some renovations being done to some of the rooms, and even that was very easy to overlook. I honestly can't recommend this place enough. We will, without a doubt be back. Thank you Craguns for a wonderful time!

We stayed in a lakeside lodge room and it was very nice. Room was very spacious and the electric fireplace was a nice touch. The lake view was amazing!! The balcony was a perfect spot to sit for morning coffee. Some areas could use some updating, but thats also what gives it a great up north lodge feel!!! Front desk lady was so wonderful!!!!

Wonderful surroundings and a lot of amenities.
Beautiful Room! 2 Queens and love seat hidabed! Fire place, sliders to porch and chairs overlook Gull Lake! Every room overlooks the lake. Lots of stairs and long halls. If you have limitations walking or with stairs ask "Ask for a room to accommodate your needs." It still may not look like what you are used to...but if you walk out on sMe level as your car you can drive to the main areas. The lodging follows the Gull Lake shore and has 4 floors dipping down to the lake shore. There are only 2 elevators and far from the rooms...see the Photos.
