Madden's On Gull Lake

Madden's was a great spot with plenty of lake frontage to view the lake from every angle! We loved being there opening weekend when it was fairly quiet. The one-bedroom cabins had a clean view of the lake and were quiet. Only downside was our room heater was quite loud when it kicked on at night. This likely isn't an issue as you get into summer, but for our early spring arrival, it did wake us up when it came on at 3-4am.

We had a great time at maddens. We stayed in the main hotel the second opening weekend. Our room was dated, ours friends had some updates. This didn't bother us, we were only in the room to sleep. It had everything we needed. The food was good, we ate in the main restaurant breakfasts buffet and dinner and the service was excellent. We played golf on the east and west courses. They were good for the 1st weekend in May. Service was excellent on golf courses also. They offer games, ping-pong and pool. Looking forward to going back. 2 couples in there early 50s.

Unforgettable Family Golf Getaway at Madden’s on Gull Lake

Last weekend, our extended family enjoyed an exceptional golf outing at Madden’s on Gull Lake. From check-in to check-out, every moment was phenomenal, highlighted by amazing golf courses, comfortable accommodations, and exemplary customer service.

Golf Course:
The golf courses at Madden’s were in superb condition, especially impressive given the early season. The greens, fairways, and tee boxes were meticulously maintained. A standout feature was the challenging par 6 on Pine Beach East, which combines distance with breathtaking views, providing both a challenge and a visual delight for any golfer.

Accommodations:
Our family suite in the Madden Inn exceeded expectations with its spacious layout and comfortable bedding arrangements, including two Queen beds in their own room and a pull-out sofa in the "living area." The room’s design smartly accommodated various sleep schedules, allowing for both early sleepers and night owls to coexist comfortably. This thoughtful setup was perfect for our family gathering. The Madden Inn is one of the older buildings on the resort grounds and it was really fun to explore and learn about the history of the resort as it's grown over the years.

Amenities:
Madden’s plethora of amenities catered to every age and interest in our group and others. The swimming pools and hot tubs were a hit, and the evening activities like bingo and trivia added a fun and engaging twist to our stay. The resort truly caters to all, ensuring that whether you are part of a family, a couple, or a group of friends, you will find enjoyable and high-quality facilities.

Dining:
The dining experience at Madden’s was truly a highlight. The buffet, included in our package, was exceptional with an expansive selection that exceeded my expectations. Each morning, the breakfast buffet offered everything from freshly made eggs and french toast sticks to a variety of fruits and cereals. Dinners were a delight with a wide range of choices that catered to all tastes—fresh seafood, various cuts of premium meats, an array of vegetarian dishes, and classic comfort foods like homemade breads, salad and potatoes. The quality of the food was matched by the attentiveness and warmth of the restaurant staff, who welcomed us with open arms and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Their efforts to personalize our dining experience and cater to specific dietary needs made every meal feel special and homely.

Customer Service:
Customer service at Madden's is some of the best I have ever experienced. Suzanne, in particular, was a standout, showcasing professionalism and a genuine interest in our satisfaction. Her enthusiasm and attention to detail made our experience even more special. Furthermore, the entire restaurant staff were exceptional, greeting us warmly each day and continuously ensuring our comfort. They were proactive, anticipating our needs and adjusting services to enhance our stay (including putting up with our uncle's bad jokes). This level of care from the staff across the board—from the grounds crew to the maintenance team—contributed to a warm, environment that felt like a home away from home.

Atmosphere:
Despite the resort’s bustling activity with over 250 guests, Madden’s maintained a relaxing yet vibrant atmosphere late into the evening. We always felt prioritized and well-catered to, making it feel as though we were one of just a few groups present.

Overall Experience:
Madden’s captures the essence of Minnesota’s hospitality and lakeside charm. From activities like tennis, croquet, billiards and pontoon rides to enjoying a simple pizza or engaging in extensive world class golf, the resort offers a diverse range of activities. I highly recommend Madden’s to anyone looking for a top-tier golf or resort experience in Minnesota Lakes Country.

We had a group of guys stay at Madden's on opening weekend at the Beach House. It was an incredible value for the service we received. While the entire team was impressive, Suzanne is the cornerstone of the organization. Anyone that has the chance to work with her understands the level of service that she provides. She's a rare find and is the reason we'll continue to choose Madden's when we come up to Brainerd.

Recently returned from a four night/three round golf package at Maddens with a group of 18 golfers. Every single detail of this experience was fantastic. The staff went out of their way to ensure that every part of this trip was perfect. Cannot provide any suggestions for improvement and hope to return every year.

I brought my wife here on opening weekend for her birthday, and it was Perfect! Amazing Customer Service, Phenomenal Food. Even though it was a little rainy, we were still able to play golf, hit up the driving range, swim and relax in the hot tub, get a message, eat at Parfectos Pizza, enjoy our amazing view at Willson Bay and eat breakfast and dinner buffets at the Inn. Oh, and we got to see the bagpipe guy walk in to signify the start of the season.

Well Done, Maddens. We will be back!

The wife and I just spent the weekend at Maddens for our 5th year anniversary on May 4th. We got engaged at Maddens, and married at Maddens. This trip was more special because we brought the kids!

Madden's is extremely beautiful. The grounds are gorgeous with lots of colorful flowers and trees. The views of the lake are stellar.

Highly recommend this resort. So many options and activities for all. Plus, the service is fantastic.

Wonderful experience according to all twelve of us. Friendly staff and truly invested in our stay being everything we hoped for. This was from a person helping me make the reservations, to the check in staff, to the different restaurant workers and the owners. The cleanliness of the entire resort inside and out was front and center. I have been coming on and off for 69 years and have always felt welcomed. The up keep on the historic hotel is of greatest importance. Deb has done a remarkable job keeping the old with the new. I can't wait for the 100 year celebration.

We had a girls spa weekend before the social season started. It was quiet and peaceful. We had a wonderful time!!

We were at Madden’s for a wedding. We stayed in a one room cottage at Mission Point overlooking the lake. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and we will definitely be back. I also plan on recommending Madden’s to friends and family.

I have stayed at Madden's several times in my life and have always enjoyed my stay. This was a last minute escape and our first stay in the sunset villa and was charming. The wood fired fireplace was a wonderful touch. Service was warm and welcoming- which has always been my experience.

Fantastic rooms, and amazing service. Golf course staff were very friendly and inviting and were happy to assist on all the courses with friendly conversations and tips. While onsite I got a slow leak in my tire and it went flat, maintenance was very courteous and helped me inflate the tire.

Overall above and beyond experience. Will definitely be going again.

Maddens on Gull Lake in Minnesota is an absolute gem, and my recent stay was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the outstanding service and the breathtaking accommodations.

The staff at Maddens truly knows how to make you feel like a valued guest. Their passion for providing exceptional service shines through in everything they do.

I can't say enough good things about this resort! The rooms seem to all have beautiful MN lake views, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful from the housekeepers to the bartenders to the front desk staff. The salt water pool is so nice, the pool bar makes it even better. We loved the inflatables out in the lake beach. Pontoon cruises, big yard games, great restaurants/delicious food, bar with live music, kids activities, boat rentals of every kind, they literally have anything you could ask for! Everything about this resort is impeccable. I will be back!!

We stay at Madden's every summer and we always have a wonderful time. The food is resort quality and nothing short of amazing. We have stayed at the historic inn (definitely has that historic feel...smaller and more cozy rooms), the golf villas (our favorite due to size and accessibility to the entire resort), and Mission Point (dated, but large with wonderful views). We can't wait for next year!

We had a room on Mission Point and it was spectacular. Great view of the lake and it was right next door the restaurant where we had a great dinner and breakfast. We also just walked right over to the mission point bonfire at night and got to enjoy s'mores and fire while our baby was sleeping because our baby monitor range reached the fire. The boat launch was also close by and so we launched and docked our boat in the canal free of charge. We will definitely come back!

Best Resort and not by accident. The owners have decades of experience now spanning 4 generations of passing that knowledge and service excellence on.

I am a pilot and so glad the SEAPLANE SAFETY CONFERENCE found a home there. My grandson was beyond impressed and will be there with me again next year. He will become a pilot with the excellent instructors he met this year. Thanks to all who make it happen!

An outstanding getaway/golf trip in Northern Minnesota. Staff was very friendly and they have enough amenities to make a longer stay out of it. All 16 people in the group have already committed to going again next year as a part of our annual golf trip.
