Murray Hotel

Mackinac Island is my favorite vacation spot and I've stayed at many of the hotels on the island throughout the years. This was my first visit to stay at the Murray. I've enjoyed their delicious fudge for years. The room was comfortable,clean and beautifully decorated. I loved the antique photos and artwork hanging in the hallways and the patio right off the second floor. The patio was a great place to relax after a day of site seeing on the island.

Given the history of the hotel, we expected the room to be small and a bit dated. It was. However, the downtown location makes it easy to get to various attractions, and the decor is charming. There is no pool other than a hot tub, but it was cozy. We did not try the attached restaurant or fudge shop, but we did get a free donut in the morning. We also enjoyed the free coffee and tea throughout the day.

I’ve come to the island many times but this was the first time I’ve stayed here and it was wonderful! The room was very spacious and we even had a little balcony, which was a surprise! The location is very convenient. We arrived very early but they were able to accommodate us and get us checked in early. Brandon at the front counter was very welcoming! We can’t wait to come back next year again.

The Murray hotel is very conveniently located in the heart of Main Street directly across from the Mackinac Island Ferry dock. Everyone on the staff from the dock porter to the receptionist to the maid were all so welcoming and friendly. We stayed 3 nights. The room was made up daily. The bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and drains well maintained. There was a chair and window seat in our room although it would have been nice to have 2 chairs ( we didn’t request a second chair so don’t know availability). The spa pool and sun deck were very relaxing and clean. We ate breakfast daily at the on premises Taco Amigo where we had wholesome and delicious burrito bowls that kept us energized for most of day. We were not able to have lunch at Taco Amigo but we are sure it was equally satisfying. Murray’s on premises fudge shop with their huge selection and deliciously creamy fudge was a hit. We love the downtown location as we are near the main attractions and a short walk to everything. The elevator was nice to have especially after a long day of walking around and the small porch with rocking chairs on the Main Street was a restful place to people watch as we waited for the group to gather or just to rest between excursions. We have been to the Murray Hotel each year for many years and plan to continue to return in the future.

Good food, good service and nice atmosphere! The menu has lots of variety, including options that are unique from typical bar food. We had the bacon wrapped shrimp and steak bites, both were delicious! Jumbo shrimp were served on a bed of yummy polenta, steak bites on toast points were surprisingly tender and medium rare as requested. Drinks were decently poured and reasonable. And the entertainment on the patio overlooking the marina was a pleasant touch! We enjoyed Buoy's so much we went back the next evening!

1st Time to Island. It reminded me of Old Gatlinburg of the 70's (Which is a good thing.) People were friendly and very helpful especially the staff at the Murray. Yes, the rooms are retro. but that should not come to any surprise to anyone who took the time to view the hotel website. We enjoyed our 3-night stay and most definitely would rebook here. From the cleaning staff to the desk staff, to the counter staff everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and wanting to come back and see them again, because they made you feel like family.
Location, Location, Location; the Murray is located conveniently next to the Island Carriage Tours, the Islands grocery store, bike rental facilities, and Horn's Bar (the place to go after hours)

Decided to take a trip to Mackinac and wanted to spend the night there. Found the Murray and liked what I saw so I booked a room. What a wonderful place and a wonderful experience. Every member of the staff I came in contact with was fantastic. The building, the old world decor, made for a great stay. The room wasn't huge but this is a place that was built for a different time. Don't look for some huge suite, at least not in the regular rooms, but that isn't to say that's a bad thing. It's charming.

The hotel is a short walk to the ferry dock and right in the heart of the strip. Walking distance to everything. In the lobby the BEST fudge. Brought some back to New Orleans with me and it has been a hit. Just adds to the beauty of this place. I know there are many, many choices on the island but when I go back this will be my go to spot.

We loved the location of the hotel, right in the history and bustle which we loved! Also very affordable. The room was great, not super deluxe, but good for us!

We enjoyed the hot tub, the donuts, and the complimentary tea and coffee. That helped a lot.

A great place to stay. Murray Hotel is located on the Main Street & yet is quiet in the rooms and courtyard/spa area. The staff is friendly and helpful. Also the fudge is awesome. So glad we stayed here.

We arrived before check-in time, and our room was already ready. The room was nice, clean, and spacious with a great view. Murray is in a great location and was right by our dock, so it made it easy to go to and from the ferry. We will definitely stay there again.

My favorite place to stay on the island! 🏝 Everyone who works there is super nice and I love their donuts! We will be back next year for the 8 mile race again!

We loved it here! The hot tub was cold the first day but staff came out to try to fix it multiple times and eventually got it fixed by the next day! Everyone was very friendly and the room was adorable. Would stay here again for sure. Very nice and affordable.

Loved being right on Main Street. Stepping into the hotel was like stepping back in time. The fudge sold in the lobby was delicious. Friendly staff was a real plus. Had a great time!

Always stay at the Murray when on the island. Love the cozy rooms. Clean too.

I’m a Murray girl! I come at least once a year and always stay at The Murray! Easily accessible across the boat dock, friendly, clean, and affordable! It’s my go-to Mackinac Island stay!

Beautiful huge hotel on main strip. TV didn't work, but honestly I didn't call for them to correct it. We got a horribly small room but super clean and shower was amazing

Had a wonderful stay at the Murray Hotel. Luggage was brought straight to the hotel from the Ferry. All staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and cozy. Very cute hotel right in downtown. The roof top outdoor hot tub is perfect for October!

Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay on the island. We will definitely stay again when we are on the island again. The fudge is great too!

We had an awesome stay! The rooms were clean & big enough for us. The little Mexican Cafe downstairs serves a good breakfast & lunch plus the in-house fudge shop & occasional donuts were a daily sweet treat. The location is perfect for those coming off the Starline ferry but they have porter service from both ferry options. The owner was very nice & welcoming. I would definitely stay here again in the future!

We loved it here! Great location, staff is warm, friendly, and helpful. Amigo Burrito inside is awesome! Decor is quaint and antique-like. Housekeeping is amazing! Pool is a large jacuzzi actually, and the patio area is comfy and spacious. We will be back!
