Straits Lodge

We stayed at the Mission Point Resort in the Straits lodge section. I loved the decor, the atmosphere and the staff. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. My favorite things were the glass coffee cups in the room, not Styrofoam, the amenities that were provided such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, lotion, iron, ironing board and a hair dryer. These made my packing a lot less!! It was very clean and inviting. There is a lot to do on the resort, putt putt (they have glow golf at night), salon and spa, theater, gameroom, kids club (12 and younger), pool and Jacuzzis. Several restaurants are on site and some shops.

Mission Point is the place to stay on Mackinac Island, especially if you wish to bring your 4-legged kiddo(s). Special here is the "Pouch on the Porch at the Point". A VERY welcoming Island to vacation with the entire family! 4 Paws Up rated!🐾☘💚💕😊

We've stayed here a few times. While it is an older set of buildings (old school), they have done a nice job updating it. I must say I was pleasantly surprised that we had housekeeping service every day. Yay! It's not a "normal" thing these days. Staff are very friendly and work hard.

I do recommend Mission Point if you plan to stay on the "Island".

Great place for dogs. Loved that you didn't have to go through a lobby. Lots of exits so easy to walk the dog. Room was beautiful. Big king bed, AC, fridge. Very happy with acvomodations.

Lovely service. Great views. Comfortable room. Plenty of lounging areas. Lots of bike space. Nicely located on the outskirts of town by the bike trail.

This is our favorite hotel/resort. We like the beautiful grounds filled with flowers, beach front park and restaurant, friendly staff and excellent service. Food is delicious but pricey. Their coffee shops are actually better than Starbucks. Mission Point also has bike rentals available on site which is very convenient. Just make sure you're renting the new bikes. We got stuck with old bikes because they were the only ones available. We had problems with shifting gears and the front brake broke on one of them. We were told by the bike shop supervisor they will retire the old bikes next year. We'll definitely be coming back here always as we have been doing for 20 years.

Older very nice room. Very quiet. Not bothered by voices from adjoining rooms or noise from the hallway. So the room felt very intimate. It is nice that it is away from the downtown hubbub. There is a beautiful view of the lake in just a short walk. Quite scenic.

Recently stayed here for the 4th of July and was completely blown away by the hospitality. Each and every single staff member makes a point to make you feel welcome.
The amenities are not lacking either. There are a litany of things to do, regardless of interest or age demographic. There was also a ton of room to sprawl out on the front lawn to watch the fireworks. And although the resort pool is a bit smallish, the pool house towels are keep warm and plentiful.
The walk to downtown isn't unbearable from Straits Lodge. But the walk from Shepler's Ferry to Mission Point for check in is a bit much. You may want to take a horse taxi, or wait for the hotel horse ferry/limo which is $6/adult, $3/child.
As for the room, we stayed in a Garden Double and were very comfortable. There are other room types that I would have liked to try: the Family Suite looked fantastic. The on site dining is phenomenal and the staff was excellent. I had the chicken and waffles and was not disappointed.
All in all, I was extremely satisfied with our stay at the Strait's Lodge. It is well worth the cost.

Beautiful!! This was our first stay in the Straights Lodge and are DELIGHTED with our beautiful room/hot tub and the amazing staff. I can't compliment this place enough....simply amazing!

Wonderful. Main building is rustic and heaven. Rooms are the dorm rooms from the old college. Food is. Outstanding.
