Great Turtle Kayak Tours

Husband and I went on the sunset kayak tour and it was wonderful! We already had experience kayaking but there were a few beginners in our group and our guide, Will, did a great job of explaining how to Kayak, giving direction, and making everyone feel safe!

We had a great time and we were able to see the Grand Hotel, Bridge, and a beautiful sunset!

If you get seasick easy, just be warned it does get a bit rocky when paddling over some waves. I also wish we had put on some bug spray, as the flies were a bit annoying in the evening.

Overall 10/10 experience!

Highly recommend. The tour guides were funny, friendly, and informative. They did a great job giving a run down on how to paddle in a kayak and tips on dealing with any waves. They gave some info and stories as we went along and very clear directions on where to go and stop to regroup. Absolutely gorgeous views of the lake and island that you can't get when you're on the island. Very fun way to experience Mackinac Island.

Absolutely worth it!! We did the snorkeling tour early in the morning (8:30am). It was amazing! We kayaked out to near Arch Rock and parked our kayaks on the rocky beach there and snorkeled in the crystal clear water. The views were breathtaking. Our guide was amazing and very thorough, his name was Nathan! Definitely will be back next time to do one of the other tours that they offer! I highly recommend doing the snorkeling tour.

Sydney was absolutely wonderful for our daughter’s sunrise paddleboard tour! She took great care of them, was very professional and caring! Highly recommend!!

Be sure to look out for the paddle sign on the west side of the island breeze gift shop to make it down to the shore! Glen was an amazing tour guide and a great instructor- I had never been kayaking but felt comfortable as we went. We saw an amazing sunrise and Glen even offered to take our photo with Arch Rock and with the sunrise. It was the best way to see the lake and the island! So glad we decided on this tour!

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience or a better guide!!!! As we kayaked, Will, our guide, shared both the history of the island and what’s good to see today. The scenery was beautiful. It was by far our favorite experience on the Island!

My husband and I went on an 8:00 am tour led by Glenn and Anthony. Glenn was amazing! To start, he gave such good directions on how to maneuver the kayak. We have done this several times before, but it was a great refresher course. The tour was just fantastic. Glenn had some great stories and information about the places we saw and the island in general. This was one of our most favorite things we did on the island!

Sydney made our trip amazing. She is a great tour guide—patient, kind, and well knowledgable. I wanted to go kayaking when I first visited Mackinac Island. Sydney gave me a boat that I felt comfortable in and helped me overcome my initial nervousness because this was my first time kayaking. I had a great time and enjoyed the views of river and island learned a ton more about the island and the local folklore, which was a real treat. Any visitor should not miss out on this experience!!!

Excellent experience! Went on the 11am Arch Kayak Tour with our 2 guides (Katie and Jacob.) They provided great instruction, safety reminders, and island history. Although we are avid kayakers familiar with Michigan lakes and rivers, this trip was a bit more challenging than expected. Lake Huron was choppy and windy. My husband and I both got soaked from a few rogue waves so you'll want to dress in quick dry pants and bring a change of clothes for after. As long as you're prepared, you'll enjoy!

We took the Arch Rock tour and it was so beautiful and informative! Our guide was Jacob. He gave great instructions, guidance and advice about other things around the island. Such a great time!

Thank you to Josiah and team for a great kayaking experience! Some of us struggled more than others LOL, but they were so encouraging and supportive to everyone!

My son is autistic and really wanted to go kayaking when we visited Mackinac Island. We knew he wouldn’t be able to do a two hour tour and he was getting frustrated that he might not be able to kayak. The amazing staff went out of their way to accommodate my son. Mr. Glenn gave him a private kayak tour and it made his entire day. Our family was so blessed by the kindness and accommodations of Great Turtle Kayak Tours. Definitely recommend!!!!

glen and anthony kept me safe during my sunrise ride to arch rock...my first kayak adventure on one of the big lakes. it was so breathtaking i forgot to take more than a couple of photos. i would do this again in a heart beat next im on this beautiful island.

My husband and I loved our two hour tour to Arch Rock. The equipment was well maintained and clean and the guides were knowledgeable and super friendly. We started and ended right on time. Definitely a highlight of our Mackinac trip!

Very easy to make a reservation with and clear communication. Tour to Arch Rock was great for our group which included grandparents and kids. Would recommend their services to everyone.

My wife and I had a fantastic time on a sunset kayak tour (led by guide Sydney). A great way to get a different view of Mackinac, would highly recommend it!

Had some pretty crazy waves, so we had a modified tour. It was fun nonetheless and our tour guide, Josiah, read our group pretty well to make sure none of us were too uncomfortable. Walked away with some beautiful pictures of our family too.

We took the Arch Rock tour with Glen and it was very satisfying. It was my first time for trying Kayak and I felt safe thanks to nice guidance. I worried about the weather as the temp was 61F but it was not chill at all and warm enough to wear a pair of short. The lake was crystal-transparent!
