Out of town. Had to take mother here for fall. After all xrays were done, apparently dr was not supposed to take off cervical collar. He didn’t deem necessary but when we get to main hospital it was total different story. Had to keep collar on with fractured C5. Next they did not forward the orders for the morphine for pain to the main hospital which was the whole reason of sending her there. At the main hospital they said they didn’t have no morphine to give her. Imagine that!!

I recently was admitted into the ICU for DKA. I must say my experience with Thomas Hospital was great as soon as I stepped in the emergency room. No long wait, pleasant and knowledgeable staff, and wonderful care all around. I would love to give a special shout out to one of my nurses, Nicola. She was the sweetest, most genuine woman and her care made my stressful situation a little more bearable. Great staff and exceptional care!

I arrived today and was expecting a long wait and rude personnel. My wait was short and all of the staff were super nice. During all of this Covid craziness it was nice knowing that they take other cases as equally important.

There emergency dept was very good they were busy but very attentive. The Np could have taken notes from the RNs, and they seemed more knowledgeable. The NP just was in and out I was already home when my bloodwork had come back . All it all it was fine.

Veeeeeerrrrrryyyy SLOOOOOOWWWWWW THE SLOOOWEESSSTTTT EVVVER!!!! BUT!!!! "MS.Debbie" at the E.R registration desk and E.R "Nurse Jamie" on night shift.....are ABSOLUTE DOLLS!♥♥♥ I stayed a tad bit longer than my liking but they made every moment comforting! being so sweet, funny and sincere. I CANNOT SAY THE SAME ABOUT THE other women in the back 😬 but this is all from one encounter! LOL so you'd have to make your own judgement on anyone not listed here.

Also DR SHARP IS A VERY DEDICATED AND CARING PHYSICIAN who, definitely values his patient's health.. . He is VERY consistent and persistent on diagnosing and treatments CANNOT COMPLAIN even about my wait after being in such good care! THANK YOU TEAM!

I would not recommend going to the medical records department the two older ladies are very impolite.

So this place needs some help. I don’t think I was taken seriously and waited for four and a half hours. All that said… leeza and frenecia were absolute dolls. They took care of me and both were very kind. However the star of the show has to be Johnathon! He listened to me. Gave me answers. Made me feel better and accommodated me to a quieter area. He was amazing and I give him props for handling everything so well!! Thankful to have him!!!

I brought my son in with lower abdomen pain, we sat in the waiting room over 2 hours. Everyone before us and after us went back. And a lot that went back was laughing and talking. And my son was crying.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT MY WAIT TIME. MY LIFE WAS IN YHEIR HANDS!!! I will go to USA in Mobile if I have another medical emergency.
No one ever asked my pain level between 1-10, never connected a blood pressure cuff, did not communicate for hours until my daughter said something. Guess what? They put a BP cuff on me finally after hours and 10 minutes later I went into septic shock!! You can easily die from that. My 19 year old daughter saved my life for advocating for me! Then all of the sudden we had a room full! I will definitely go to USA next time something happens! Unprofessional and inadequate care. Also, they found a heart murmur. What did they do? Nothing! Also, I noticed when I got home 6 days later that I had an abnormal scan on my lungs. Guess what?? Pulmonary Fibrosis!! All the blood lab work as well as the scans show this and they didn’t even mention it!!!
I would rather wait 24 hours then go to this ED and hospital again.

My wife is 67 years old and has a history of heart problems. I took her to Thomasville ER in Fairhope at 1:30 am on Tuesday morning 11/21 with chest pains. We were there 18 hours on a cot that was almost impossible to lay on for more that a couple hours, and a small plastic chair to sit in. The attention given to her was awful. We sat in that room for hours on end without seeing anyone or being updated on her situation. They ran some tests over the 18 hours but we kept having to ask for the results. The last test which was an Echocardiogram, was performed at 9am Tuesday morning and we were told it would take a couple hours to come back but it could take several hours for the Cardiologist to read. My wife was not allowed to have food or water so she ended up being 22 hours without eating or drinking. So we waited all day until 7:30 that night and were finally told that the ER Cardiologist had to do a last minute emergency stint procedure and he went home afterward so it would be sometime the next morning before we could get any results from that test. That would have put us over 30 hours in that miserable situation. My wife has an aortic aneurism and we were trying to find out if it was starting to dissect which can be fatal. So after 18 hours of this, she could not take anymore suffering and we left AMA. I would advise staying away from this ER if at all possible and choosing another option. It wasn't always like this. We have lived here many years and are very sad to see this decline in what used to be excellent services.

The service here is awful!! I’ve have been here with my husband for 5 hours so far…..he has .seen a nurse once and a doctor once. He had tests done over two hours ago and when I asked they were waiting on an ultrasound result. I have sat here and listened to the nurses laugh and joke…so loud that even with music playing in his AirPods he can hear them with the door closed!! They have talked about a patient who was apparently here yesterday, left came back today and was at the Malbis ER too! Very unprofessional!! He hasn’t eaten all day and they have refused him water twice now! So not even allowing him to drink since we arrived at 9:00 am!! You would think since I told them earlier he hasn’t eaten or drank anything someone MIGHT try to hurry up!! They haven’t even checked his vitals since we came in….but you can bet they will rush to do it before we leave! If there was an alternative to this ER we would have gone there! So now we find out there has been a computer issue…and his test results were not “transferring over”.

The entire hospital is full of country club doctors that can never seem to find anything wrong when I bring my wife up there sick I would rather die trying to get to Mobile than to go to Thomas hospital if I really had something seriously wrong the more appropriate name for Thomas hospital should be kill hill. When you ask the doctors or the nurse practitioners why they can't find out what is wrong with you they just look at you shrug your shoulders and refer you to a doctor that you will never get to see

One star is too much. My husband and I sat in the waiting room almost 3 hours and another 4 hours in a room. Saw the doctor one time and she hadn't even looked at his chart to see blood work and CT had been done. Said she was ordering him a shot and would be right back. We got there at 5 PM and walked out at 1110 PM. Never saw a doctor or even a nurse to treat him and noone wanted to talk to us till we leaving and then they wanted us to sign an AMA. We never did get the results of any test or even find out what was wrong. You have to actually be being treated for AMA to be active. My husband wasnt being treated or even talked too. The doctor even refused to shake his hand when she did pop in the 1 time for less than 5 minutes. Pitiful uncaring staff. All about the money, not patient care.

Went in because I had pain so bad I was sobbing. I had gone to the urgent care first, she told me she was afraid she would miss something given how much pain I was in and told me to go to the emergency room. The first Nurse David was really nice, and even when I was crying we managed to make jokes with each other. He gave me a shot of Toradol, which I'd hoped would help. I saw a doctor for about 30 seconds and she said it PROBABLY was an ear infection. Then I was rolled out to get a CT.

Did I mention motion hurt and I was still sobbing? After, the night Nurse Sam told me they were discharging me as it was just an ear infection and the doctor had already told me all about it and treatment. Which the doctor hadn't bothered to come back in at all (still sobbing by the way) but they had a prescription for something to help with the pain and amoxacillin.

The stuff I was given for pain? Advil. They proscribed naproxen... like I had already been taking cycling out with ibuprofen to try not to hurt my stomach... you people are there to help people, but you kicked someone out who was sobbing, then your nurse sauntered through the front laughing about how she is such a mean nurse and acting like I'm the issue?

Did I mention they also botched my blood draw and IV that they didn't even bother doing anything with even though both people who stuck me said I seemed severely dehydrated? My arm looks like patchwork or blue, purple and red from how badly they botched it? Of course blaming the dehydration of the person who was sobbing. Have photos I'd love to post.

Oh and my favorite, they let me go after most pharmacy locations were closed and by the time someone could come and pick me up because absolutely no one allowed in especially with kids (I do understand that... keep kids away from all of that) none of them were open. So I am still in pain 12 hours later, and haven't been able to start my antibiotics that they could have just given me a shot for. And there are no 24/7 pharmacies near me. Not like insurance wasn't covering everything.

I didn't want any serious pain killers, the stuff most doctors prescribed in the past are either headache inducing or do nothing, but the fact that they acted like they were doing me a favor by prescribing ADVIL!!! Regardless of your feelings of superiority and obvious poor bedside manners, not everyone is stupid. Why not just say, go grab a bottle of advil?

You guys broke your oath to do no harm. I just hope you don't kill the next person with your lack of care.

Brought my 2 and 3 year old in for breathing issues, 104 fever, severe weight loss, and more. Rude nurses and doctors. Was here over 6 hours per child.........Takes a ridiculous amount of time for testing. Will never come back!!!!!!! Made my family and my children feel like a burden that we were even at the hospital for severe illness. Didn't care to really help my toddlers or go above and beyond to understand when toddlers are sick they are emotional and tired and need hug's and kisses. Not for rude nurses and doctors to roll their eyes and talk snappy to me. Worst ER I've ever been to and I've been to hospitals in 5 different states. Stay away for the safety and health of your babies!!!!

As an EMT, I have delivered patients to nearly every hospital in Baldwin, Mobile, and Escambia (FL) counties. The Thomas Hospital ER is, by far, the worst in the three county area.

Approximately 5 min before we arrive with a patient, the paramedic calls the hospital and provides information on the patient so that the ER staff can be properly prepared for our arrival. At all other hospitals in the area, this usually ensures that a bed is pre-identified, specialists can be notified, equipment can be on hand, etc.. This works most of the time at the other hospitals, but rarely at the Thomas ER. Most of the time, we arrive at the nurse’s desk and are met with either silence or apathy. As the patient just sits there on the stretcher, it’s obvious that, despite the call and information provided, they are completely unprepared for our arrival, or just don’t care. I don’t know why we even bother to call ahead. This is a real detriment to patient care.

I have no reason to believe that the care that our patients eventually receive is subpar. However, a rapid reception and evaluation is critical to good patient care and positive outcomes. On those points, Thomas ER receives D- from me. I would never take a family member there nor recommend it to a friend.

Husband brought by ambulance from Orange Beach very ill. Since arriving well over an hour ago, no one has even taken the consideration to speak with me. He is severely hearing impaired and I was told I could be with him. All of a sudden due to COVID, I can’t. He has many comorbidities that he can’t pronounce and new to the area so they don’t know his history. When did healthcare professionals become so hardened? I completely regret moving to this area. It’s like being in the 18th century. Don’t come here!

ER Doctor ordered over $20,000 in unnecessary tests (including drug test that was negative), and scans because he thought I was a drug addict looking for a fix. I was having a reaction to Levaquin, an antibiotic prescribed by another doctor.

Awful. My 83 year old mother had to enter the ER and the nurses were terrible. I had to ask for help numerous times and didn’t even help me with the wheelchair until I asked. All sittin behind their desks chit chatty
