Marvin Fenn Park

This place is an excellent example of what a park should be, quiet, clean, plenty of room to wander about with a pavilion, playground and clean restrooms. I almost failed to mention, it's an awesome little fishing spot with a pier to wile away the time.
A friend introduced me to this spot last week but I didn't know the history until I read uncle tuts review. Glad I did and I encourage you to also.
It's a pretty well kept secret of a park and I think we should keep it as such. Keep exploring y'all, cuz our paths just might cross one day. Be safe n enjoy ur time on this side of the dirt.

Nice area to walk around the lake and golf course.

Marvin Fern Park (AKA Marvin Fern Recreational Area) is a hidden common next to a golf course and is open to the public. Marvin Fenn was a teacher, principal, and fishing enthusiast. He had a son with the same name who was called "Skippy". Sadly, Skippy preceded his father in death.
At Marvin Fern Park, there is a parking area, public restroom, play structure for kids, picnic area, BBQ grill, and dock to walk on or fish from. When I first visited there was a guy fishing who hadn't caught anything by the time I left. While walking along the edge of the pond facing the small cliffs, hundreds of tiny fishes splashed about excitedly. The pond makes a loop similar to an oxbow lake. It is connected by a short stream and runs through the golf course to lake Polk located to the northeast. If you’re light of foot, you can find turtles on a downed tree and on the grass banks of the pond. It’s a clean and pleasant park.
The golf course comes up to the south side of the pond so I’m not sure if park visitors are allowed to walk there. The wooded area doesn’t have paths so it’s kind of closed off. I suppose you can explore it if you like. Overall it's a nice place to visit.
Head west on S. 57th St. over South bound General Bruce frontage road and go straight to the end past the dead-end sign. The road, which you won't see until the last minute, then goes left down to the parking lot.
