Gus' Red Hots

A really great, clean, pleasant, friendly, awesomely great place to get a bite to eat ! You have to try the HUGE wings and classic Gus's Red Hots! The fries have no equal anywhere!!! No bad diner food here folks!

Great thin crust pizza. Strangely, only available before 7:00pm. I moved here recently from an area where most pizza sales (for delivery) happened after midnight. New culture, I guess.

Ice cold air conditioning, clean place, friendly service! Glazier red hot Michigans were delicious! Battered fries were crispy and perfectly cooked. Definitely recommended!!

We had hotdogs for lunch at the beach, and came back for supper. This is the quintessential American family diner style restaurant. Old, huge portions, good prices, super friendly service. It is a place not touched by time, and that never should be. We hope to become regulars. We felt so welcome and comfortable, and satisfied. Absolute gem in a sea of mediocrity and not caring.

I stopped here on a roadtrip just to try the Michigan red hot. It did not disappoint. Love the red dog with sauce, mustard and onions. Also tried the poutine and would recommend. I got everything to go since I was traveling with dogs.

Outstanding classic diner experience. I had the hash omelette special. Wow if it were not so unhealthy I'd eat it every day. Really tasty. Outstanding service. Waitress took a minute to make friendly small talk - super nice. Will be my go to breakfast place when in the area.

Great diner location coming off the ferry ⛴.
Place was clean and staffing very friendly and attentive. Food was real good diner food. Did hav grilled cheese and BLTs. Great choice.
Would highly recommend this place and pricing was excellent for what you get. We paid less than $50 and had awesome food on the plate.

I’ve eaten here several times dine in and takeout. The food is always great and the service is beyond amazing. The wait staff have always been so kind and accommodating. I highly recommend Gus’s if you want good food and a friendly atmosphere.

This is not your typical diner- it is so much better! Ordered chicken and waffles for lunch and it is served with Liege Waffles. If you have never had this before they are yeasted waffles made with Pearl sugar - would not have expected that. The chicken was so good we went back again for dinner just to have chicken tenders. Also got the “knuckle sandwich burger” which is a cheeseburger topped with bacon and grilled ham on Texas Toast - yes please. The fam also had breakfast sandwiches which were amazing and the hash brown patties were delicious. You can’t go wrong at this place.

I always make sure to take exit 39 when I'm heading N or S on I87 so I can get some Gus's.
It's all good home food. The chicken fried steak is awesome!

Went here on a Saturday afternoon to have chocolate pancakes and eggs. The hubby had a burger and fries. Both were delicious. The pancakes were large and fluffy and packed with chocolate chips. The burger was juicy, the bread was fresh, and the fries were crispy. The waitress was sweet and attentive. Will definitely return!

Great, unique food. I really like the Michigans and the Michigan burger was fantastic. Just the right amount of food.

Always a great place to go for some comfort food. Friendly staff, fast and accurate. Best of all their prices are fair.

Husband had the Michigan's he said they were good , fries had such a crunch to them love the taste, coleslaw was excellent , I had the burger with lettuce , tomato and onion . Liked a lot. Portions were plentiful.

Highly recommend Gus’ if you’re passing through Plattsburgh. My friend and I arrived near closing but were kindly seated and served some delicious dogs, Philly cheese steaks, and a chocolate malt. We explained that we were on a day trip down to the states from Quebec and were happy to hear that many other quebecois pass through to get some red hots. We couldn’t have asked for friendlier service!

I have no clue why there are bad reviews. They have the best Michigan dog in my opinion. The Michigan sauce is an incredible balance of sweet and spicy with onions buried and mustard on top. 😋
