The moment I took a bite I HAD to capture a photo to tell everyone how IMMACULATE these baked goods are! Now that we’ve enjoyed our treats we are here to tell you all to GO GET YOURS!! These are hands down the BEST pastries we’ve gotten in the Rockford area! We got a butter croissant, pear almond tart, chocolate chip cookie, chicken meat pie, and a pecan coffee cake AND OMG!!! What incredible flavors that pair amazing with a cup of coffee first thing in the morning!! The atmosphere was so inviting and the staff were lovely and it felt so cozy and loving the moment you walk in! 10000/10! Please go experience this wonderful bakery! ✨

You can not go wrong with anything at this fine establishment. I went for three days in a row after I stumbled upon it by chance.
On the first day, I bought lemon poppyseed muffins, cheese Danish, and almond croissants. I went back the second day and found that their offerings had changed, so obviously, I had to try something new! I bought a mix of muffins, danishes, and croissants. On the third day, I bought biscuits and gravy, caramel pecan bread pudding, bearclaw, and curry chicken meat pie. Oh, and the pound cake tastes like sweet butter. My 7 year old daughter finished that before we got home. She said it was better than pancakes.

The only complaint I have is that they're only open three days a week! But, as an amateur baker that used to sell at farmers' markets, I appreciate the time and effort that goes into this. And, I hope you are able to enjoy time with family and loved ones when your doors are not open.

The strawberry scone and cheese danish are absolutely delicious. Pastries are fresh and flavorful. Without a doubt one of the best bakeries in Rockford

Recently heard about this bakery and that they have the best croissants in town - that’s a fact! I got the Bacon & Cheese and Almond croissants. So flaky and delicious. Will definitely be back to try more pastries! The staff is warm and kind as well.

The best Croissant I've ever had the pleasure of eating. The price is almost too cheap for the sheer size and quality. Staff was super nice and helpful, sharing options and making suggestions. We're only in Rockford for a short time but I think we'll be coming back here several times!

This place is a gem! I’ve been to a lot of places across the nation and I can confidently say this is the best bakery I’ve ever been to. Their croissants are divine, flakiness to perfection. Their doughnuts and danishes were delicious. Their sausage pastry was amazing and savory. If I could I would have gotten everything on the menu, ITS THAT GOOD.

Literally the best pastries I’ve ever tried! Stopped by two days in a row because of how delicious everything was, the owners are very very sweet and I’ll definitely be coming all the time now!

I had the beef meat pie and the almond croissant. Both were so delicious. I got there at 9:40am and there was a line and I see that it was well worth. The food was really good and so was the service. I will definitely be back. I highly recommend this place.

Visited for the first time today and had a chocolate croissant which was incredibly flaky and with rich chocolate and a blueberry scone which was large enough to last through 2 mugs of coffee. Will definitely be back to try the meat filled pastries and muffins. 👍👍👍👍👍

back for again. I bought 2, and ate 1 on the way to my daily workout. The 2nd I saved for the next day. Warmed it in the microwave for 25 seconds and it was like

The best bakery I have ever had the pleasure of trying, bar none. Everything we've tried from here has been absolutely incredible. Highly recommend their Danishes and croissants. Just wish they were open more often! We are quickly becoming regulars at this amazing little place.

Ok, Calling all you foodies out here in Rockford and from everywhere, please listen very carefully, ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL PASTRIES!!!!!! SWEET AND SAVORY TOO! JUST AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING!!! If you haven't tried Banana Cherry Bakery yet, you are so missing out! We went for the first time today and almost bought one of everything. The buttery, flaky layers of the laminated dough on the pastries and the fillings, I'm telling you to get in your car and go now! They are huge. I can't believe that we never stopped in here and tried them up until now. We just drove by and didn't know that this was a complete gem of a bakery here in our hometown. They are open only for now, on Thursday's, Friday's and Saturday's. So buy extras for the rest of the week. Lol. Don't forget the fresh baked bread too. You will have to go in and get a cronut to find out what it is. I'm going to keep that one a secret. They have morning buns, cinnamon rolls, scones, pain au chocolate, muffins, almond cream filled chocolate chip pastries, english meat pies and sausage rolls too. Omg, so much to mention. Just get there fast.
They have homemade southern buttermilk biscuits and melt in your mouth, creamy gravy with big chunks of sausage on Saturday's only that is to die for! Thank you so much, Medina and Banana Cherry staff!🥐🥧🥯🍞🧁😍😃All of you are so kind and wonderful. It feels like home when we come in there.

We stopped by here on our way to Galena, IL and I’m so upset by how delicious everything was. I wish we had a bakery like this near us. My husband and I have decided that this bakery is worth the two hour drive from Lake County. We tried four different pastries and each one was better than the last. I will be dreaming about that butter croissant for a while.

We got the pistachio raspberry Danish, blueberry Danish, and chocolate croissant. Doesn't matter which Danish you get from here, it will be the best danish you've had. They excell at these. I don't even like croissants, and I loved the chocolate croissant. Whatever your expectations are they're going to exceed them in flavor and quality. Black owned and thriving. Support this local business. Money well spent.

So good!! Everything is made from scratch by one family. Flaky buttery croissants ( I had the bacon chedder),delicious chocolate cookies, just amazing. Get there early before they are all sold out!!!

Every pastry Ive tried is the best one I've ever had. I know this seems like hyperbole, but its actually true. I have never had any pastry that was better than BC makes. Their croissants are sooo flakey and buttery. The almond croissant, sausage roll and curry meat pie are heavenly. Most of their items are the size of 2 full portions.
Go early, they sell out almost every day. Even if they just have one thing left just get it and be pleasantly surprised! They are also super friendly.

Fantastic fresh baked goods. Went in at opening at 7:30am and at least five customers present. Got a blueberry almond croissant and a cherry danish. About $10 in damage but worth it. Wonderful combo of crisp and chewy texture, baked to perfection. Did not opt for coffee since it was self-serve and I didn’t wanna hobble over and mess with it with my foot injury.

Also, if you go near closing, you might get stuck with “slim pickens.” They make stuff in the wee early hours and that’s it. I would not repeat the $7.99 pistachio and raspberry mini-pie thing, wasn’t that great. I’ll stick with croissants and danishes.

Not only that they have the best pastries, they also have the best pies: apple pie, pumpkin pie and sweet potato pie. Also the owners are very nice and pleasant to the customers.

For a special someone's birthday we looked for a good pastry shop. On a whim we stopped in here. A.MAZING. The ladies behind the counter were warm and friendly. They showed us each option. They said their Spinach Cheese turnover was their best seller. We had to try it and it makes sense. It was delicious and filled completely. The ham and cheese croissant was our other choice and it was also filled completely and the pastry was crispy and buttery. We have found our new guilty pleasure. Oh wait! The coffee! Even the brewed coffee had a delicious unique flavor. Check these guys out!

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this place, as I think it's the greatest disparity between aesthetic and quality I've ever experienced at a business. The ultimate example of "don't judge a book by its cover". To the point I wonder if the owners view it as a test of the general public, and their product the reward.

This place is better than most patisseries in Paris, but with a _very_ basic, barebones and some might even say rundown aesthetic. I'm not sure if they even turn on the lights inside. I was just passing through Rockford, and the *only* reason I stopped in was by checking the reviews while at Velvet Robot coffee nextdoor.

I wish they were a: closer than Rockford, b: open more than three days a week and c: manage to make their establishment look like a place that sells this grade of baked goods, if only for the real world, organic new customers they would attract. But let's be real; they're doing something right in making an incredible product - 3 days a week.

UPDATE: They were closed at 1:30 on a Thursday, so I guess dont take the listed hours at face value. Pretty disappointing when someone drives here from Chicago!

I can't believe I've never reviewed this wonderful place!! I drive 45 minutes for their huge sausage rolls (perfect crust), beautiful croissants (ham and cheese x2 pictured), and even the rice pudding and macaroni salad (really!!!). Owners are really nice, too. It's truly a gem of a place.
