St. Paul Church of God in Christ

Leaving a review of a church feels odd to me, however Yelp has requested, and so I shall.

Almost every decent size city has a "the" Church of God in Christ, and St Paul is Rockford's "the" COGIC church. (If you need only one clue, the street the church is on has been renamed after it's founding Bishop. See: Mother Daniels Way in Milwaukee.)

Which means in some ways it is probably too traditional, and even stuck in it's ways, but still influential, and every significant musician or minister in or from the area has been part of the church in one way or another. Rockford examples include Destiny's Child's Michelle Williams and Mariah Carey's producer Big Jim Wright (both have visited St Paul recently as well).

If you are visiting Rockford and looking for a COGIC church, it's the place to start.
