Highly recommend! Chocolate frappe with espresso and frozen lemonades to fuel our afternoon- absolutely delicious. Beautiful art and kind people. Basketball courts for the teens and swings for the little ones!

Hard to express how much we loved this place! My family and I spent a week on daufuskie and we started every day at school grounds coffee! Pam and Brian are incredible people. Their story is incredible, their coffee is better than any chain or craft spot I’ve been to and Pam’s pastries belong on a Netflix baking competition show.
Thank you for welcoming us to daufuskie. You made our trip all the better. We’ll miss y’all!

My family and I came to Daufuskie Island for a day trip and stopped at School Grounds Coffee - we had such a great experience and were all more than pleased with our frappes, frozen lemonades, teas and coffees. It was such a cute spot with so much to enjoy for all ages! The kids loved the swings/basketball courts and we loved the art and shop up front. We will be back!

We stayed in Defauskie for a week and got coffee from this place everyday! Our favorites were the Mocha Frappuccino and my girlfriends was the caramel macchiato. The drinks came so fast and were incredible. The owners were so kind and we had a great conversation while he made our drinks. You have to try the baked goods as well! A true hidden gem.

Great coffee, coolers and lemonades! I always have the hardest time choosing. The cucumber, lime and mint cooler and raspberry cold brew are so good! The blueberry scones are great also. The owners are so nice. It is my favorite place on the island!

This is a must visit for a DI trip. We always stop in on our trip and grab coffees and baked goods (the scones are our favorite). There is something for everyone here, and the drinks are always as top tier as the service.

Fun little place! We got there when the cookies just finished cooking. The coffee and cookies were 100%. Wish we would’ve stopped here first.

What a treat to find delicious coffee (and other) drinks in this historic building. And they happily dispense pup-a-chinos to your canine pal if they can have one.

Pam and Brian are the best baristas. The frozen lemonade and scones are excellent!

We stopped at this place while touring the island. There are several businesses in the building. Our main reason for stopping here was for the historical significance.

Starbucks has nothing on this wonderful little gem, located in the heart of Daufuskie's Historic District. Brian and Pam will make you feel like old friends from the moment you walk in the door. They have a great selection of coffee drinks and use high quality coffee, tea, and hot chocolate products. (If you're really lucky, you'll have a chance to sample some "Pam-Cakes"...but don't take too long because they go fast!)
The School Grounds Coffee shop is located at the rear of the historic Mary Fields School, built by the WPA. Now used as the island's community center (and also housing the fascinating "Daufuskie Blues" indigo shop), while sipping your coffee you can hear about the history of the school where Pat Conroy taught and later wrote "The Water is Wide" based on his experiences as a Daufuskie teacher of Gullah children.
Visitors shouldn't miss this opportunity to mingle with local islanders, to learn about the "true Daufuskie," and after just one visit to feel like a regular "where everybody knows your name." This is a one-of-a-kind find that absolutely shouldn't be missed if you're fortunate enough to be visiting beautiful Daufuskie. (Photos by Tour Daufuskie; Mary Fields School by Holger Operderbeck.)

Not only is the coffee amazing her baked goods are some of the best you’ll ever taste. I would visit the island again solely for her scones and cookies. This is a must stop! The cinnamon crunch cookies specifically were the best cookies we have ever had. The sweetest barista and baker!

Marvelous coffee, scrumptious apple pie cookies and the owner, Brian, was a delight to chat with on each visit.

Super friendly couple runs the coffee shop and have great staples for coffee and espresso lovers as well as special creations you should all about! The Harvest Moon latte is wonderful!

Coffee and Halloween-themed Chocolate chip muffin were just divine! Nice little covered place out back to sit and enjoy the coffee while talking with some of the locals. Well worth the effort to make it here if you're exploring Daufuskie Island.

Brian makes some delicious coffees per your needs and requests. He is knowledgeable of the history of the island and desires to teach others to appreciate it. His cups are environmental friendly along with the straws. His wife’s lemon zest cookies are also delicious. Super nice folks. The highlight of our day on Daufuskie Island!

Came over to the island early in the morning for biking. Realized that while early in the morning is perfect for biking it is not perfect if you haven't had caffeine. Luckily school grounds coffee was there to make it better. And I mean better. The latte was amazing, cookies fresh out of the oven, and a bagel was the perfect way to start our biking tour. The owners are so sweet. They are definitely going to be a regular stop when we come to visit.
