Nana's Southern Kitchen

The menu is simple, which makes it easier to order. When my food was brought out, you could smell the seasoning!!!! Every bite I took, I did a happy dance. I was ordering my Togo dinner while I was still eating!. The best friend shrimp I've ever had, pork chops were delicious, the yams... omg, perfect, I think all pecans would really set it off. The greens were amazing, the cabbage was seasoned so well, a bit spicy with pepper but I loved it. The potato salad was also good. I asked if Nana was back there cooking because I was impressed, definitely coming bk here before my trip back home.

This is a very small place where you go up and order your food and they bring it to your table. It is located in a small shopping center. Maybe 10 small tables in the place. A friend wanted to go because it was Southern cooking.

We both got the catfish, but it wasn't like a regular piece of fish, it was what they called "nuggets". Extremely tasty! The spices were just wonderful and it was not salty. I would like to go back and get the chicken next time. My friend also got the green beans which were very fresh. I'd highly recommend a stop in sometime.

This is the best southern food I have had in over five years. The catfish was so good. The fried chicken so fresh everything was so good the atmosphere of the service the owner and their mission is beautiful. Anyone looking for good home cooking that is going to hit the spot to come here

Ordered take out but the staff was so friendly we decided to dine in. The food was GREAT especially for restaurant style soul food. Customer service is TOP TIER. The wait wasn’t long at all and we got our food piping hot. Everything tasted home made and that pound cake so damn good it taste like somebody grandma in there pounding the cake wit her bare hands.

I needed a taste of home and this hit the spot! Catfish with the special sauce was 👌🏻 and seasoned well. The collard greens had a delightful spice to it. Potato salad was seasoned well. My only preference to it is I wish there were a few more potato chunks in the potato salad. It had more of a mashed potato feel.

My intentions were to grab my food and go because I had to hit the highway and, well honestly I usually don’t WANT to dine in black owned restaurants (my people can be challenging). Immediately upon entering, my daughter and I were greeted (not a dry greeting either- this was genuine)! When our cashier (which I later learned was the owner) realized that we’d never been tho the establishment before, he kindly took the time to give us a brief overview of the menu and how the restaurant came about. All of our questions were answered and he even let us sample the kool aid before purchasing it. We were encouraged to dine in. The place was clean and the staff was very friendly, polite, professional and attentive! They called us by name and made sure that we were good. Before we got comfortable at our table, the food arrived, piping hot and smelled amazing. Altogether we got fried chicken wings, oxtails, rice, yams, greens, macaroni and cheese, cabbage and lemon pound cake. Baby listen! I’m fat so of course I tried my cake first. It didn’t disappoint. Everything gave what it was supposed to give. The only reason I gave a 4 for the food is because the oxtails had a few herbs that I’m not fond of but they were cooked to perfection, falling off the bone. The portions were big. We left with a full meal of leftovers for later. Great vibes while we ate. Mercedes and Bry, were amazing conversationalists- felt like a family dinner and I’m definitely going back!

The food was absolutely amazing!!! The customer Service was great, very friendly! I felt like I was at my aunties house eating dinner. I recommend 10/10 💗 ps the pork chops are the best I’ve ever had but overall I loved al the food and the service was amazing I will be going back!!!

The food was absolutely delicious. The portion sizes were amazing for the price point. You can tell it's a family and labor of love in the cooking.

OMG this place screams that your at your aunties house. The kindness flows through the atmosphere. I love the chicken, fish, pork chops, greens and green beans. I will be back soon

The menu is easy, the food is fantastic, and we were treated like family by the staff. I had the shrimp, and it's by far the best shrimp I've ever eaten. I had collard greens for my first side, sweet potatoes for my second, and both were so yummy. These are big portions, so bring your appetite!

It is immaculately clean (including the restrooms), and the decor is interesting and inviting.

We will be back!!

Been a hot minute since I have had some actual good southern food and this place got it! Nice simple menu. My husband and I got the 2 entrees and 2 sides combo and it was absolutely amazing! The family are so fun and welcoming and have that spot on hospitality. Hubby and I decided this will be a repeat place for us to go to when I'm craving some good food

Honestly was my first time visiting Nana's kitchen, but v definitely not my last. Took some veteran friends to reunite over good food and we where well rewarded. I loved the pork chops ,Catfish ,chicken , and collards and cabbage. We felt like we were sitting at Nana's house and felt so warm and cozy. Everyone got food to go so we could sit at park and catch-up. It was a wonderful experience with the great food , everyone enjoyed sharing there food.

Absolutely loved the food!!! The oxtail was really tender and flavorful. We also got the fried chicken and fried shrimp. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and not even a little over. The batter has a delightful crunch and was seasoned really well.

The sides we got were all fantastic, loved their potato salad, the string beans had really good flavor and the collards were perfect and tender as well. I think the only side we were a bit let down by was the cornbread which was just good and not amazing like everything else.

The staff were really friendly and we could tell it was a well loved place. The only other note I want to make is there isn't a ton of dine in space so it might be easier to take things to go during busy hours.

I love eating at NaNa’s Kitchen!!! I recommend my church family to join me for dinner today!!! Again and Again impressive!!! I’ll be back for sure!! Supreme professionalism and the BEST food ever!!!

Wife and I came here for the first time. I don't normally order chicken in restaurants but I did today. I made the right choice. Chicken wings were crunchy outside and juicy on the inside. Also ordered the Mac and cheese and the potato salad. Both tasted great. Wife really enjoyed the shrimp. The staff were great and accommodating. We left very happy and excited to add this place to our list of favorites. We'll be back!

We had a strong craving for some southern love (FOOD & HOSPITALITY)... And we got just that at Nana's Southern Kitchen!
Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the employees.
The restaurant was bright and clean and had photographs of Nana and her family.
We both ordered the catfish and shrimp (based off of several reviews we read prior to coming).
For sides we had- collard greens, mixed greens, potato salad and mac n cheese (and cornbread of course).
We also made sure we got Nana's "special sauce" too! (Which was awesome!)
The shrimp were large, lightly coated, flavorful and perfectly cooked!
The catfish was golden, crispy, fresh, and was a very generous size!
The macaroni and cheese was mild and tasty, not made with a cheese sauce, but real cheese!
The potato salad was delicious and a bit on the sweeter side which was a first for us, but delightful!
The collard greens were tender and flavorful!
The mixed greens consisted of cabbage, collard and mustard greens... which all went very well together!
And the cornbread was used to soak up all the juice left behind from our greens!
Unfortunately, we didn't have room for desert.... but that peach cobble sure looked yummy!

I am so happy we found this place and am excited to try the fried chicken next!

I would also like to make a special mention of Bri (spelling?)... not only was she so friendly to us, but as we sat there enjoying our meal, I observed her treating everyone who came in like they were a part of her own family!

We had a quick lunch at Nana's and thoroughly enjoyed the Fried Chicken, Tenders, and Catfish we ordered. My son had the Kid's Meal with Tenders and Mac. My wife and I had Collard Greens and Mac with two main entrees. The food was cooked to order, tasted fresh, and was prepared with care. Oh, yeah they had grape Kool-Aid. The only thing I would've preferred differently was the cornbread, it was served at room temperature, and I think warm would've been great; minor quibble, though.

The staff/hosts were mellow and welcoming. We'll be coming back to try the other items when possible.

I spoke with the HR rep who confirmed that the recipe has changed, for the health of others, but not so drastically that I shouldn't taste any seasonings. She offered to replace my meal. I left town and finally made it back today to get the replacement. Unfortunately, they were out of chicken. I settled for the fried catfish but I told them my blood pressure is fine and would like the old recipe along with the sides that I stated below. He was kind enough to throw in chicken tenders. I took a bite of the fish and Bay-bee!! I am a firm believer in customer service and not every customer is right. They came through and you can even see the difference in the pictures. And the cornbread... A customer for life as long as I'm in the area. Thank you so much. Oh, and the cake didn't make it home!

I went to the old restaurant last year when I was in town. The staff, service, and food were amazing! So naturally, I went last night as I'm back in town and was craving some soul food. Big mistake.
I went to the Kent location and ordered the main and three sides. Fried chicken, Mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, and greens mixed with cabbage. They also offered cornbread to which I said of course! I should have checked the most recent reviews! The chicken is naked at best. Two bites. One without hot sauce and one with. Please switch to a task hot sauce! There was no seasoning, flour, or anything. Just dipped in grease and boxed up. The offered cornbread was but a dream. Never received it... The macaroni and cheese was so bland, even hot sauce can't help. The rest other two sides were awesome. But only ate a few bites cause my appetite was ruined.
I will inconvenience myself to take the rest back to attempt to rectify it because I enjoyed the food last year and I want to continue supporting this local black-owned business. Will update this review with the outcome of the visit.

These ladies are absolutely amazing! Food taste like grandma's, and the portion was huge!!! I love it here!
