La Mesa Mexican Restaurante & Cantina

Visited Sherman from Austin and had to make a stop at La Mesa so my kids could try it. I grew up in Sherman so La Mesa was always on the short list of tex-mex places I'd eat at.

Make no mistake, La Mesa is not high end authentic Mexican food and it doesn't try to be. La Mesa is very good, basic tex-mex.

Their salsa and queso are both very good, their cheese enchiladas, whether you get them covered with chili or queso are some of the best around (gotta get them with onions), and their tamales are moist and flavorful.

The service is always fast and attentive and mostly friendly. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere hasn't changed at all over the last 15 years but is comfortable and clean.

La Mesa has been a staple in a town where many tex-mex restaurants have come and gone and that's because they maintain excellence. Don't go to La Mesa expecting authentic street tacos or amazing seafood, go expecting top notch tex-mex and you'll be pleased.

Great experience as always. Got a big group of us in without any wait. Food was severed on time to everyone .

Margaritas were great! The food was awesome. We stopped at this place just driving through town and I’m glad we did!

I have chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce. It was great. I’ll come back to tryout other plates!

Came here after finding Ni Ni's cafe was unexpectedly closed.... What a treat!
The service was excellent, the food was excellent, our overall experience here is very good we will definitely be coming back.
The food was very authentic, well prepared and of good portions. The chips and sauce are also delicious, and their green salsa is out of this world!!

The food here is always excellent. I recommend the stuffed jalapeños. But everything was delicious. The fajitas were just so good.

The food was so good!! Our server, Jeremy, was the best! He was friendly and attentive. He really made us feel taken care of. We can't wait to come back.

Been dining here my entire life. I absolutely love the chips & salsa. The quesadilla with fajita chicken has been a go-to for many years. Be sure to order some Queso with it, so you can dunk your quesadilla in it. They offer a similar lunch and dinner menu, just different size portions. Amazing Tex-mex! Every time I come back into town, I order a giant tub of salsa and bag of chips togo, so I can bring a little bit of La Mesa home with me. The service is always great. Great setting for large groups too. We have met here for family dinners plenty of times.

Steak Fajitas are second to none. Sizzling when they come to the table. Delicious 😋 and order enough to make sure I have leftovers. I drive from Dallas to eat here.

Hannah was Awesome. Our drinks were on the table before we got settled. The chips and salsa were delicious. Every need or want Hannah was there to make sure it was met. Because of Hannah I think I found Jesus.

Had a great meal with family. Food, service and the mango margarita was amazing!

unbelievable stuffed peppers. the place was packed. they have a very solid restaraunt. Had the double stacked new Mexican style enchiladas, they were very good, the guy next me in the small bar had one of the Gloria's margaritas....they are too strong for me but I don't drink. Came back again for enchiladas. (Great food, great taste, delicious seasoning). Great as usual

They have always had the best tex-mex of any of the restaurants I've been to. Stuffed peppers are great. Fast service.

We eat at La Mesa quite often. I'm partial to the chicken fajita nachos. Chips and hot sauce. Mmmmmm.

Great fresh Mexican food. Queso is awesome! Jeremy was very nice and courteous. Plenty of good food and nice portions.

La Mesa is one of my favorite places to eat! My 2 favorite things to get there is their queso & their Enchiladas! I can NEVER get enough of it! Their staff is also very friendly & welcoming as well.

Love the 7 layer dip, margaritas are magical, service is always exceptional!
