Old Town Mexican Cafe

My wife and I had our wedding reception here in June and it was the most amazing experience! The owner Gail is so incredibly sweet and easy to work with, the staff is all so so amazing, and the food and drinks are delicious! They really went above and beyond to make sure we had the most special day. If you’re an easy going couple looking for an alternative to the traditional reception, I can’t recommend them more. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The atmosphere, the fresh salsa, the nighttime vibe; all so great! I would come back any time I had a Mexican food craving. Ordered strawberry mint margarita and my bf got a pineapple margarita (he liked mine better though). The food was fabulous- ordered steak tostada and bf got steak tacos! Literally ate it all. If you’re looking for a good Mexican place- this is it! Our waitress- Karolina, even asked if I would like my margarita to go! A woman after my heart!

Great food on Duval Street.

We ate here on a Friday night. The food was fresh and cooked to perfection. We had chips & salsa with a side of Guacamole. The Carne Asada steak was fire. We also ordered the Mahi Tacos they were fabulous . How can you go wrong with fried and dipped in beer batter.

The only thing we did not like was that the bathroom seemed super small & hot.

Overall we give this place a 9.

The food was great! Mexican lasagna was under represented in the menu. It’s a unique blend of sweet Mexican flavors with a creamy mozzarella topping. Trust me it’s a must try. If someone in your group orders it and you don’t you’ll be asking for multiple tastings. The crab cakes salmon and there take on salsa is also worth the stop.

We missed Taco Tuesday, BUT… they have pulled pork CHIMICHANGA! Asked about drinks. I requested a top shelf strawberry margarita. She said, “We have 150 different tequila’s!” SEE PIC ABOVE. Okay… patron silver.

We stopped here for some and ended up having sangria also. Both were super good. I also had an ear of corn. That was really great. People were nice and the price was really cheap. During happy hour a large plate of loaded nachos, two glasses of sangria, and the ear of corn was less than 20 bucks. It’s plenty of food… unless you’re one of those people.

We went up and down Duval and this little spot had the best food, made with flavor and love, The best drinks, balanced and flavorful, and the best service both times we went.

It's nice to find a spot in a tourist town that cares as much as they do. Do yourself a flavor and check it out.

It’s an underrated spot because you only will know about it from word of mouth or trying a new spot. It’s right in the middle of everything but you might not notice when you walk by. Food is great - tons of options but the drinks are awesome. Bar always top has spots open. Try the burritos but there are so many choices.

With so many seafood spots, this spot may get overlooked but it definitely needs to be on the top of the list! Amazing food, absolutely amazing, fast friendly service and a tequila selection that'll blow your mind! The non-traditional Chile relleno was phenomenal! The crunchy coating and meaty filling was so unique, we gobbled it up fast!! The queso is cheesy heaven and the grilled shrimp is done in a zesty citrus sauce that packs a punch! Wish we would have stopped before our last day in Key West, we would have been regulars!

Absolute treat! Our waiter was the best ever.. The food was so deliscious. I don't do spicy, our waiter had some great recommends!

Nice ,quiet place with Mexican style. The food is great, and drinks are a little weak. But everything else is very nice.

By far the best Mexican food we ever had!
But not only that, our server Eva was great and may I add very cute and funny.
The watermelon Jalapeño margarita is to die for!

GREAT place for happy hour! They’ve got a large selection of fun food and drinks for 50% off during their happy hours. Lovely large and lively patio surrounded by beautiful trees and plants— along with all the KW roosters.

Along with our never-ending chip we had delicious guacamole, beers and an awesome taco salad.

One of the best spots if you are interested in additive free Tequila. We sat at the bar. Service, food, and tequila were all great.

Run in to escape the sudden shower, and so glad we did. Service was fast and excellent. Ordered the Chili Rellano. First time ever having this dish. Was awesome. Seasoning was just right. Little oily but it was fried after all. Husband had the soft tacos. He said they were great. One of the better places to eat in Key West.

If you want really good tex mex/mexican in Key West, come to this place. Super yummy and the prices are fair. I recommend the mahi tacos and the grilled shrimp skewer. Fair warning for those who don't like spice: the salsa is SPICY, it's not mild at all. So just be aware of that if you don't like spicy foods. Next time you're in Key West, go here!

After a hotel concierge recommended this restaurant, This was the BEST Mexican food I’ve ever eaten. I had the Carne Asada steak and my BF had the burrito and it was DELICIOUS. Would definitely re-visit.

Great food and reasonable prices in an area that is otherwise full of mediocre options.
Didn't plan it, but ended up there during happy hour with half prices apps and select drinks which made the experience even better.

We had a great time here. The margaritas are fantastic, I recommend the grilled pineapple and the key lime for sure. The food was fantastic as well. The salsa verde burrito I got is pictured, our friends got a lot of different things and there were no complaints. The steak, lobster and shrimp fajitas were amazing as well. Davis was the name of our server and he was pretty great.

Absolutely delicious. The carne adovodo was a pleasant surprise that was fantastic. the habanero salsa we requested was very spicy and very good. Will absolutely be back. Very lovely place.
