I have been coming here for years with friends. It has always been such a great place to come to. The outer banks motel has very friendly staff and every room we have ever stayed in has been very clean. The beach is not over crowded and it is clean and taken care of. The restaurants around here are great as well. It is a great family place and great for fishing and kayaking, etc.

We loved our stay here. Didn’t see one bug in our room. We stayed in 109 right on the beach so close that our neighbors were fishing off their balcony. Huge fishing community in Buxton. I found it peaceful and fun to watch people. There was hardly anyone else in our part of the beach so we had a lot of privacy and it was very quiet. The front most room even had their music on but you can’t hear much very far away because the ocean drowns everything out. It’s seriously close. Our room was clean but people should be aware that motels by the beach often have rusty places due to the high salt levels. That’s anywhere close to the beach. They ask you to sweep up after you leave because it’s your sand you’re tracking it as well! It’s your trash you brought in too so they ask you to take it out and clean up after yourself. People complaining about this are silly. It’s a small motel in a very small town. People are kind, clean and mostly conservative. It’s custom here to clean up after yourself! Yes they have cats here. They are precious and we saw about 5 or 6 different ones around our motel and the one next to us (Cape Hatteras motel). They do not bother anyone and in fact most will run from people. Beds were comfy, our tv worked, toaster worked, coffee pot worked, microwave worked, lights worked, lots of clean towels, beds were clean. *things I noticed* the blinds on the far side of the room were too small for the window leaving you a bit exposed. The two front outlets by the front door did not work.

If we visit Buxton again we would consider staying here again. In fact, I stayed here with my parents over 30 years ago and we loved it then too. They have new owners now but the town is tightly knit. Ask the towns people you meet about the area and you’ll find connections. A lovely, cozy little town with everything you need and we loved our little room by the beach.

Great experience! Rented an offsite unit but we were allowed to park right on site at the office for beach access, great company with nice people!

We stayed in one of the 3br 1ba that was just up the road in late December for one night. Not many affordable options for families of 6 that time of year. I’ve learned to call ahead at any non-major chain type hotel if you plan to be after 5pm. The lady I spoke with was helpful and gave me detailed info on keys/check-in and out.

Our kids were nervous as they looked at other reviews. Always take these with a grain of salt, usually it’s a disgruntled guest. We were pleasantly surprised, it was a great roomy place to stay with only a few minor issues.
- Main issue the room did not have a room number on it. (The directions to the unit were accurate, but it would have been comforting to see the room number by the door.)
- The hot / cold water was reversed in the shower. I figured it out fairly quickly, but not everyone in our group did.

At these price points you aren’t expecting much, but it was well worth the price and we’d happily stay in this unit again for it’s convenience and pricing.
47571 N Hwy 12 unit was on 2nd floor.

Be sure to catch the Orange Blossom for breakfast if you come when they’re open.

Everything is great, I have been here before but this time we were kind of misled. Beach reclamation underway on the property , dump truck smacking it's steel tailgate, loud equipment, piles of sand in the way of walking, loud construction workers, stuff in the way of backing out of parking spots. I understand construction, it has to be done but please give people a heads up to bring ear plugs and stay indoors 8 am to 5pm. Give us a hint. It's almost like lying by ommission. Yes, you didn't say that there's NO construction going on but you knew that we would want to know. Otherwise no complaints, the place is great.

We took an overnight trip to get away for the weekend- Very cute, clean and quaint! The staff is also very kind and nice!
I would absolutely recommend this establishment.
My only complaint is the smell of the cleaning products used to clean the room, but nothing opening windows didn’t fix :)

Best location on Hatteras Island. Staff is friendly. Rooms are basic and not very updated, but that's not why we stay here. Beds aren't great; we brought a mattress topper with us and it made a huge difference.
Views are amazing and motel is close to everything you need.

I have been here since Monday (leaving Saturday) and I love the view of the room I'm in and everyone is so nice! I would and do recommend staying here if you don't want to walk or drive to the beach. The stairs will definitely give you a workout, depending on the level you're on. Super comfy and cozy for sure. Will be back for sure. Great place for a romantic getaway!

Found this place on Motels.com. Went to visit my brother and wife first and went to stay here for 3 days with them. Wonderful experience. Pool, Jacuzzi, washer, Drier, Stove, dishwasher and more. People were so friendly. My dog loved walking the beach chasing crabs in the evening. (no she never caught one) Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I am so glad I got this hotel stay. Well worth the trip!

This unit 3a was well kept and clean from everything I can tell. Not very modern but a cedar beach feel to it. Very comfy and great view of the ocean. It had a nice sun room with rocking chairs before you enter the room which is always a plus. This is a good place to stay a night or a week.

I just checked in for my second stay here. These are among the cleanest rooms I’ve ever stayed in at a hotel! The staff is always amazing, and you couldn’t ask for a better location. If you’re looking for something like a Hilton or Marriott, this is the wrong place for you. If you’re looking for a clean place to stay, friendly staff, and right on the ocean then this is where you want to be!

Pleasant suprise. So close to the waters edge, I was in room 106. Clean, functional room like it was out of the 1950 but unused. Our room was in amazing condition and had modern features like high speed WiFi, cable, and microwave. we had a great stay and would stay again here.

We stay at the Outer Banks motel for a week every summer and we love it!! Its a laid back place with a wonderful staff. We love how comfortable the rooms are too. We usually get one of the 2 bedroom beachfront rooms which we love but this year we waited too long to book so we stayed in the 3 bedroom across from the main office. It was our first time staying in that room but I have to say I liked it just as much. It has 3 bedrooms with a total of 6 beds which was great since we usually have to have someone stay on the couch in the other suites. I really love beachfront but really all the rooms are so close to the beach it really doesn't matter which room you pick. I cant say enough about this place!!

Stayed last May for the 2nd time. Staff is always friendly, room was clean. Buxton is a refreshing town, away from the commercial towns. Nice pool and hot tub, little to no access to the ocean due to beach erosion and the sand bags but you can’t blame the property owners for that. If you want cozy, quiet and quaint, this is your place. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else

A friend of mine and I stayed at one of their cottages for Spring break. The unit was clean upon arrival. The beds were firm and comfortable. The kitchen had ample supply of pots and other cookware. An issue with the tub not draining was solved with a simple phone call and someone came within the hour to unclog the drain. We didn’t have any problems other than the tub drain.

Great stay. Customer service was excellent and they were very nice and friendly. Gave us a new room when we had no hot water. Beautiful view of the ocean and overall great price. Would definitely recommend.
