We took my grandchildren to Santa Land, and it was ok,we just miss the fire pits from back then 😞...... And Mackenzie is not the same without JOY LAND AMUSEMENT PARK! it looks like a Ghost Town 😔....

This park is very well maintained. The disc golf courses are great as well. There are 2 disc golf courses that are at Mackenzie park. Both courses have 2 tee pads for most baskets. I would recommend the park for anyone to visit. Jogging, bike riding, fishing, disc golf, cookouts, plus it also has the amphitheater.

Beautiful park! Large pond with fishing allowed. We came for the disc golfing and really enjoyed both courses. Wildlife all over the place. Prairie dogs were so fun to watch as we played the Big Mack course.

Went on a Girl Scout Troop reward trip. They had a BLAST. Ages 10-14 and each girl was exhausted by the time we left. Worth the drive (from Midland) and worth the money. Our mini six flags out west!

Absolutely LOVE Prarie Dog Town!

We were back in town after going to Texas Tech years ago. Had to bring the kids out to see the Prarie dogs. We're not disappointed. So much fun to watch.

Take some time to sit quietly and watch.

Not a lot to do in West Texas but the parks in Lubbock are one of the few things you can find to do. Mackenzie is my favorite for its views and wild life. I was excited to find a desert box turtle the other day. The prairie dogs are also always fun.

They have lots of things to do. There are trails, lakes, a golf course, a prairie dog town and more...

Really cool place--Groundhogs everywhere!! Not what I expected at all... this one stop made the 5hr trip worth it! And, Of course, my brother graduating from law school was more awesome, but there was some really strong competition! #reesscruggs #texastech #graduation #schooloflaw

Really enjoy Mackenzie park. They host regular marathons and fishing tournaments. The park contains the famous Prairie Dog Town, Joyland amusement and water park, playgrounds, a dog park. Santa land and 4th of July fireworks are main events here.

It was fun watching the prairie dogs. One had several new babies which were very interesting to observe. And you can't beat the price of admission. Free !

Always go here to let all my dogs roam. They keep it clean from trash as much as possible but I'm sure the smell will never go away.

What a great little stop. "Prarie dog park" is a nice place to see some wild life. I'm a tourist to this area and this was a nice suprise. Wildlife is abundant. Prarie dogs, hawks, assorted finches, etc. It's not more than a 15 to 20 minute stop. I highly recommend early morning or evening when the temperatures drop. I'm from Texas and the noon time sun and heat is a bit unbearable. There is not much shade. The Prarie dogs will eat "approved" snacks and get really close. As always, be cautious as they are wild. I viewed from a distance and had the same level of joy.

Mackenzie Park located within Loop 289 in Lubbock features numerous small lakes, hiking, fishing, disk golf, et cetera. There is definitely something for everyone, parts of the public trails that contour Yellow House Canyon even offer some varying terrain. A fork of the Brazos River even meander through the city and form the lakes! Near Houston, the Brazos is wide and treacherous. I always find it hard to believe that one can almost jump across it in Lubbock. Regardless, make some time to explore this linear park system!

We always drive there when in town. This was my fishing spot growing up.
