Ting's Red Lantern

Cedar Rapids— deserves 10 stars, we stopped on a Monday, they were so nice. Service was fantastic, aesthetically welcoming, CLEAN, the food was delicious. We tried the crab Rangoons they were delicious. Price point was reasonable, large enough quantity that we had leftovers! Our server was amazing, our pop never ran dry. We’ve tried other Chinese places in the area, but feel this one is definitely the top pick for us. Hopefully you give them a try and agree they offer great food & service.

My husband took me and my youngest to dinner here tonight for my birthday. We were greeted right away and shown to our table. Our waitress was so friendly and answered any questions we had. We got the egg drop soup and it was absolutely delicious. Crab Rangoon were my child's favorite. We ordered empress chicken and Beijing shrimp and both dishes were so so good. This is our favorite Chinese place we've had the opportunity of visiting.

After I started eating Tings, any other Chinese food tastes awful. The quality is consistent. Restrooms and dining room are spotless. The staff is so incredibly kind, I can’t say enough wonderful things about this establishment. I get the Mongolian beef every time. I’m borderline addicted to it. Thank you Tings!! ✨🌸💖

Ting's is my absolutely favorite Chinese in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City corridor. The food is always top notch and I've never had a bad experience here. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Really good food. Took my family there for the first time. I had been before. Everyone agreed it was good. Server was great even though we were there a little before closing. Will drive 30 minutes to get there again!

This was some of the best Chinese food we've ever had. All the staff were exceptional. Highly recommend for great food and service.

Thanks Tings for a wonderful lunch. It's been 5 year since we moved and the food was as I remembered. The quality of the meat and slightly crisp vegetables are excellent. The spring rolls are worth the trip by themselves, vegetables had a nice crunch to them, not mushy like most places. We brought friends with us and they had positive things to say about the experience. Thanks again!

Sesame chicken always on peak from Ting's. Their takeout is always quick roughly about 10 minutes. It's a great place to go on a date if your looking to dine in. The environment is cozy and has character in my opinion.

This WAS my default Asian restaurant. I have been going there for years, even during Covid.The food, atmosphere, and service are all top-notch.
Today I got a incredible shock. They charged me $.50 for red sauce. I was so stunned I didn't say anything at the checkout counter, just paid it. They didn't even tell me they charge for it ( never have before. )And I'm pissed. Now that I think about it. I should ask for a takeout container.
I may never return.

I love TING'S - have fir years. So glad they are back to dine in.

Still the same place & great food..!!
I unfortunately arrived @ 1:30 a 1/2 hrs before closing mid-day. Lunch choices still the same except now get either an egg roll or crab rangoon instead of both.
The taste of their Hot & Sour soup is still a favorite of mine. Simple & good flavor.
Don't know if it is my memory or actually had been skimmed down but seemed to be less to my Almond Chicken than I remember.
Still have "home made" Hot Mustard.! Though also not as hot as memory since didn't need to be cut down with sweet & sour sauce.
Different management..? Or..?

The waitress seemed busy ~~ though only 3 other tables ~~ all had their food & 2 were done just talking. She did come back 2x to check on me & the meal.! Which was nice.
Will keep coming when back in the area & craving..!! Many many great choices & have had before & not been disappointed in the 12 years we have eaten at or from this Restaurant..!!

Ting’s is one of our favorite lunch spots when we visit with family. We go often and everything is always super well made, fresh and hot, and super inexpensive. Service is fast and food is delicious. Portions for lunch are great too. Highly recommend their crab rangoons and hot braised chicken.

First time being back to Tings since the proprietor closed dining in during Covid scare. The menu here is huge and is easy to read with full description of each dish. My favorite is Hot Brazed Pork and their are many others of your favorite Chinese dishs.I highly recommend Ting's Red Lantern as best Chinese food in town.

It’s the standard in Cedar Rapids for Chinese food for a reason. My tip is to eat in the restaurant — they’re so good at getting everything crispy and delicious but travel time definitely drops it down to just typical take out. Their homemade sweet and sour sauce is delicious and they have the best seasame chicken hands down.

The food is extremely good. Nice large portions, great taste, and hot when served. This is really good food. We did take-out and ordered when we got there. Only waited 20 minutes for the food. They have on line order, call in or stop by. The dinning area is closed. The staff were really friendly and polite. Excellent choice for Chinese food.

There are honestly too many compliments to give this place. Hands down the best asian cuisine in Cedar Rapids. My family has been eating here for nearly 20 years with no complaints. I have actually known them for nearly 30 years when they had their old restaurant on the SW side of CR and still never one complaint from me. Only thing is I now have to drive 30 miles for it but still worth it everytime!!!

Always quick service - even when they're busy; which is fairly often because the food is terrific and the service is very good as well. Would definitely recommend you visiting.
UPDATE: Don't know if there are new cooks or new recipes, but definitely not as good as it used to be.
