The rock cliff formations are so beautiful. The overlook was great. The trails are marked meticulously and the trails are wide to navigate.

I loved this trail it's full of rock formations under a dense green canopy. We did the bottom half of the loop it was pretty challenging. The part we were on l would not recommend for kids and pets as it's filled with drop-offs and steep rocky trails. The trail is a bit tricky to stay on in some places. My phone helped keep us on track on several occasions. Also, most parts are not good for running. No bothersome insects or animals. Highly recommend with above qualifiers.

Amazing 1-1/2 mile loop. I am new to Huntsville and enjoy hiking new areas. Has a good bit of elevation changes and scenery for a trail 7 minutes from the mid city area.

I may be biased as a nature lover and conservationist… but rainbow trail is SO beautiful and magical and breathtaking. It’s SO important that we maintain these natural places amongst the hustle and bustle of life. If you are not a land trust member, join now, right now, and preserve the future wilderness for your children!

We came totally unprepared.
Plan your route…there are quite a few. We went To Balance Rock, followed Rainbow Mountain Loop to Spring Trail. We encountered some rough terrain and almost got lost despite following the trail markers. It took us 2 hours to cover 1.7 miles.
Suggestions: wear hiking boots, use the all trails app and PLAN A ROUTE suitable to your ability! We could’ve used a walking stick, too.
There were some rowdy college boys on the playground equipment at the trailhead but other than that we ran into several other hikers who were friendly and helpful when we needed assistance when we were directionally challenged!
It’s absolutely beautiful and serene. No critters or wildlife encounters. There is a creek that was mostly dry but had a little water running through it.
We did come across a fallen tree that we semi-struggled to get over, but other than that…
I will go back with my husband! It was the perfect challenge and learning experience for this newbie hiker.
BTW, I am 63 and my sister is 72. Our only workout is walking and we did it without injuring ourselves LOL!

Beautiful train. Not for people with limitations. Some of the rocks you need to climb over are 2+ feet tall

Beautiful trail lots to look at and take in. Just watch your step some of the trails are very rocky. Easy to roll an ankle if you aren't watching your step in some areas.

Challenging and quite technical trails. We did the Rainbow Mountain Loop and Spring Trail - Spring Trail was even more technical than the Rainbow Mountain Loop and there is a place mid trail where it’s very easy to get lost if you’re not careful. We walked off trail for probably half a mile before finding the trail again. Lots of rocks and roots to navigate around. I recommend good hiking footwear, a good sense of balance, and extra water. Lots of poison ivy around the trails. Probably not the best trails for little kids.

One of my favorite hikes to go with my boys. There are a lot of trails so it's fun to return and try out different routes.

New trailhead off Kensington, Rainbolt Trail. Nice walk up to Rainbow Loop with switchbacks. Rainbolt was completed in the Fall of 2023, work done by local volunteers.

First time visit during Christmas break. Trails were a bit tricky with lots leaves covering them. A good hike after Christmas meals.
