The staff here has always taken great care of me. I have been shopping at this family owned store since the 90s when it was in the Machesney Park Mall. Incredible inventory, prices that compete or even beat online retailers. Employees have been here long term so they know a thing or two.

Amazing first experience. Unbelievable amount of selection, tons of friendly helpful employees. Finding folks that are helpful like this in modern times is super rare. I showed up shortly before closing and they never wavered once to answer all of my questions. Patrick and Ashley thank you so much for making my first experience at this store awesome. If you want an amazing selection at competitive pricing and incredible customer service…HobbyTown will exceed your expectations. We recently visited family in Rockford and my son twisted my rubber arm to go to HobbyTown. After much deliberation and “testing” he made a purchase which required us to ship it back home. Ashley and her team were so helpful and knowledgeable about the whole process and just took care of it with a smile. I received texts/pic of the package pre shipping and it arrived at our home as planned. The level of customer service is amazing. Thank you! We will be back!

This store is FULL of sooo much stuff!! Their inventory is fantastic. Even better is the staff. They are ALWAYS willing to help my son find and understand his purchases. We've bought airsoft guns, RC cars, and other items. They also have gift cards that DON'T EXPIRE!! I highly recommend this store. We love it and drive 45 minutes to visit on a regular basis. Update: we met the owner today, and he was so kind. And the associate who helped us was tremendously knowledgeable and patient. We had another awesome trip!

Edit: August 2022 - another wonderful experience at this store. Every associate with whom we work is genuinely kind, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. We bought a fun RC "drift car" today, and my son was invited to drive one before we purchased it. Perfect opportunity to "try before you buy," which is wonderful for large purchases.

I love this place I have been building gunpla for a few years now and every time I come to this store it feels like I'm walking into fantasy land I love it here truly one of my favorite place to just walk around and look at all the awesome stuff.To the owners keep it up you have a great shop

Best prices around, everybody is super knowledgeable and friendly, I bought an r/c plane and right off the bat, he tried up-selling me extra parts. I bought them and he was RIGHT ! I crashed on the first day but the extra parts kept me in the air all day. Thanks HobbyTown! ❤

Oh my goodness! First time here, we were in awww of all the things they have. So much cool toys for all ages. I wanted to stay longer but we had other stops. I'll be back. 🙂

Best hobbytown within 200 miles easy. John the owner knows how to run a great hobby store. They have so much stuff in there it's hard to see it all. They always having somthing cool and cant leave without buying somthing. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! If your near by you have to stop it's well worth it I promise.

Great staff! I had a servo go bad in my Xmaxx after 15 min out of the box. I brought my Xmaxx in the the shop and they had me up in running again in no time! Top notch service, guys! Thanks again!

Excellent customer service, without a doubt. I purchased a set of floats for an Aeroscout R/C plane, and had no clue how to install them. They literally spent about an hour helping me to install them in store. They answered any questions I had, gave me tips on flying, just all out were incredible. I'd definitely recommend this store to anyone who's interested in any hobby. Between the great service and huge selection, you can't go wrong here.

Excellent customer service every time. From Airsoft and RC to Model Trains and Anime these guys got you covered. The service here and friendliest folks ever!

Update:: very awesome staff there at HobbyTown. Friendly and knowledgeable in so many different areas! had another great visit to the store, great price on some clearance Gundam models and some RC parts.

Update #2:: Still such a great group of folks to help us in our never ending addiction to RC cars, Model railroad, models, airsoft and game addiction. Today they hunted down a FPV camera that is no longer being manufactured and helped me figure out how to get it into an ECX. Most definitely our favorite hobby store in Rockford.

They had a nice selection of airplane models for my husband's hobby as well as a good supply of paints and other necessities

Found out about this store by the super friendly assistant manager, Ashley Werntz, at the World of Wheels car show. She took the time to answer all my questions. This store is amazing! First off, this store is fully stocked with everything and is extremely clean. Displays are properly done so the customer can really exam products before purchasing. The staff here is incredible! Nick B helped me with my pick up order of a MST RMX 2.5 and got me set up with a magnet mount kit, proper charger and battery packs. Nick B did a fantastic job and was nothing short of professional . Nick B took the time to explain how to charge the battery, all the settings and proper maintenance. I called Nick B a couple days later for some questions and he helped me for at least 20 minutes over the phone. John Curtis, the store manager, is an absolute class act. I live almost an hour and half away from the store and he took care of me when one of the magnets broke in the kit. He helped me by making it right and shipping me a new magnet kit at a discounted price. Todd did a great job helping me over the phone as well. I am absolutely impressed with this store's employees and look forward to making more purchases because of the employees. John Curtis, thank you again, you lead by example and your team absolutely shows it. Throughout my visit, all the employees were helping out and you can tell they enjoy working at this store and are passionate about hobbies. I would have given 10 stars if that was possible!

They have a great selection of toys. Really kind and knowledgeable staff for airsoft good prices compared to online and Amazon a good selection of guns and they recommend a great field to go play on

I stopped in to get a battery and charger for my newly bought rc. I’m new and have no idea what I’m doing but that was no problem here. Ashley was very helpful, knew exactly what she was talking about, and was happy to show me how everything worked. Very impressed with my experience, I’ll definitely be back! Thank you!

Absolutely the place to go for anything RC. Great staff and great owners, always there. They also have a large selection of different size trains and guns plus an area to try the gun out. Pretty large building and lots to choose from kids to seniors and everyone in between. Check it out.
