First time at the state park. Family friendly. You can easily take a stroller/ wagon for Stout Grove trail. River destination. The kids loved playing in the water. The river was so clear! Nice place to play in

Simply amazing park! You have to be there in person to really see the size of this living legends. Some of the biggest Red woods we have seen and it was not too populated. We took 3 hikes about 1 mile long in average and were there about 4 hours which was plenty of time if you are passing by rt 199.

So beautiful here! We came on a Monday and the park was not super crowded. Did not have to pay to enter and rangers were very helpful. Could easily spend hours here exploring. Short drive to coast too

Incredible experience
Walking trails level and easy to walk. Well informative signs along the trails provide detailed information. Lots of great photo opportunities. The drive down to the river was so awesome.

Loved my visit to Jedediah Smith State Park! It was my first time to the redwoods and it was even better than expected! Even if you can't hike, the views from the road are incredible! Be careful if you have a larger vehicle however, because there are some narrow areas as well as quite a bit of traffic. This park is not dog friendly, the only places dogs are allowed are on the main road, so no hiking trails unfortunately.

There are no words for how amazing the Redwoods are. Pictures just can't do it justice. This is a must see for everyone and I highly recommend doing this at least once in your life. Beautiful and stunning nature at its most majestic.

So many beautiful views, it's hard to pick top 3. All of the rangers, at visitor's center, and at the trail were very knowledgeable. On our way out, a young bear was snacking on the side of the road. Slowed down just enough to get a quick photo because I'm sure Mama bear was near!

Great day use area, as far as campsites we didn’t stay there as they had none that our 30’ motorhome would fit on. Beautiful river running through it.

This has to be one of the most fantastic places we've ever seen. Having visited other Redwood forests, we had no idea of the magical treat we were in for. We arrived from the northeast on US 199, took Douglas Park Drive across the covered bridge, and then turned onto Howland Hill Road to enter the park. Howland Hill Road is one-lane gravel, so be aware that you'll have to pull over frequently to let other cars pass. Immediately upon entering the park, we started seeing towering trees. They continue for Howland Hill's entire length, about six miles over a ridge and down into Crescent City. We stopped at the Stout Grove Trail. It's a must see! Easy walking on even paths (but be careful, we wandered off the path twice and had to retrace hundreds of yards of steps... it's easy to wander while being awed by the majestic trees), fantastic trees, and enchanting fern-filled forest vistas. Go later in the afternoon so you can enjoy the sun's rays slanting through the trees. If I'm going on and on about the trees, forgive me; they are so majestic and awe inspiring! After (reluctantly) leaving Stout Grove, we continued on Howland Hill. It's just six miles, and Google says it should take about 30 minutes, but I'm sure it took much longer than that. It seemed to go on and on forever. Grove after grove of huge trees, springing up right out of the roadway. The otherworldly quality of this drive reminds me of the planet of the Ewok's! Don't miss this place, take your time, breath deeply, and enjoy one of God's miracles!

This is the secret gem of all redwood experiences. It remains slightly more wild than some of the more traveled parks to the south despite being crowded on popular holidays. It is easily enjoyed from the car or by taking any of the hiking options scattered throughout. The Stout Grove will is a popular favorite. It’s wide and easily traveled by most as long as they can handle the sloping paved hill at the beginning. The restrooms are pit toilets. They’re usually not too bad but on a crowded heavily traveled day they can get kinda gross. I recommend picking off days such as weekdays or avoiding the summer travel season. Much of the toad through the park is one lane with turn outs. Most people follow the process of getting out of each others way but when it’s crowded with tourists, people seem to forget their manners and rush through, driving too fast and being dangerously pushy through the tight spots.

The Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park is one of many state and national parks that include the amazing redwood trees.
There was a visitor center and a road that goes through the entire park that you can see the trees on. Overall, it's nice to see.

Jedediah Smith Redwood Park is in the Northern most part of the Redwood Forest. It houses one of the oldest Redwood trees. Some of them are 2000 years old. It is clean, beautiful and an incredible experience. The views are exceptional. Various hiking areas are available, some are easy and some are difficult. I highly recommend the Howland Hill Road drive and the Stout Grove walking trail.

Redwoods are big, tall, beautiful and distinct. Jedediah Smith Redwoods park is a part of Redwoods National Park ecosystem and needles to say it is absolutely Free to visit unlike many other National Parks. You don’t even have to make reservations! Parking is somewhat limited, especially at the Boy Scout Tree Trail, I would say about 10 cars are able to find spots. We did not have a map of trails and still were able to hike. You will meet other people on trails and if any questions just ask:) Same Boy Scout Tree Trail confused us, when we entered it was written 2.8 miles distance but be aware it’s a distance to the tree so double it for the entire hike (5.6 miles a trail). That trail in particular is somewhat difficult, steps up and down and wet dirt, especially if you hiking after it was raining and no pavement. Other trails much shorter there are some not even a 1 mile hikes. Restrooms are at every trail so no need to panic:) Closest place to grab some snacks probably Crescent city (approx 10-12 miles away).

We traveled from Oregon down to California stopping along all the redwoods we could, this was the first park we visited, and it was by far the best one. Perfectly quiet, not overly crowded or touristy. This park is the perfect old growth forest, purely serene and beautiful.

The Smith River in Jebediah State Park is some of the clearest aqua blue flowing water I have ever seen. Combined with the soaring redwoods, this is a magical place to visit.

An unworldly experience. The Redwoods were majestic and more than the eye can see. It would take several trips to do them justic

This park is home to some amazing trees! Walking among these ancient giants makes you feel small and temporary. The dense forest is a joy to walk through, exploring not only the large and small trees, but also creeks that wind through the forest and create their own beauty as well. The well maintained trails allow you to explore without too much effort and is an easy walk from the parking for families and children. Prepare to be awed by the majesty of the Jedediah Smith Redwoods Park - it’s unforgettable!

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State and National Park is so beautiful. It is my favorite of all the places to see the coastal redwoods of California. The redwood forest absolutely magnificient. It is so green. With moss growing in shady areas and the ferns at the of the redwwods, it looks to perfect to be real. My son said that he always feels to God whenever we go visit the redwoods. Together Jedediah Smith, Del Norte Coast and Prarie Creek Redwood State Parks make up Redwood National Park.
