Had a great experience with Rick. We stopped by after seeing the fossils in the store window. One of my hobbies is shark tooth hunting, so I was impressed by the teeth he had from Morocco. He allowed me to purchase one of them, which is my pride and joy. A beautiful Otodus tooth with both cusps intact. Thanks Rick! We’ll be back

I brought my Italian friend to Galena, and as we were walking downtown, we stumbled upon this really small antique store. Once inside, we were welcomed by Rick, the owner. He was very friendly and chatted with us. We shared stories with him, and he even gave us some free newspaper clips and a shark tooth. The store itself is fascinating. I really enjoyed going through all his antiques. Truly unique.

Wonderful shop! Rick is kind, thoughtful and very knowledgeable. We found a very cool map of England from the 1700s and a great botanical print. My husband was very excited about the mudlarking memorabilia.

My wife, my son, and I recently spent a short weekend in the Galena/Dubuque area. Rix Antiques was the highlight of our Saturday as we investigated Galena's old downtown area. My son is nine years old - a boy obsessed with maps, geography, etc. The wonderful way that Rick interacted with my son - the way he allowed my son to entertain his curiosity about the maps and fossils, to ask questions about Rick's world travels in search of various artifacts - was quite touching and created a memorable moment that I'm sure my son will keep.

We bought a few wonderful, unique old maps, which we will frame. Looking forward to stopping by the store again!

Rick is a super friendly guy and loves sharing his stories and knowledge with all who walk through the door. He digs the fossils himself in Wyoming and Africa, and he really knows his stuff. His passion is evident. We ended up buying a couple of items and both are now displayed in our living room. We stumbled upon this place quite by accident, but we'll certainly make a point to visit again in the spring!

Happening upon Rix Antiques was the highlight of our walk in downtown Galena. Rick was so friendly and knowledgeable and the large variety of fossils and antiques was fun to search through. We purchased several items and he discussed the origin and history of each piece with us. We will definitely be back next time!

Rick is a pleasure to speak to, and full of facts and information. His store is filled with fossils, teeth, old maps dating back to the 1700's, coins, and many other interesting artifacts. This is an amazing hidden gem in downtown Galena!

Fantastic variety. Knowledgeable conversations. Stop in for 5-minutes to check things out or stay for an hour to really take it all in.

Prices are reasonable too!

This was definitely the highlight of our entire trip! So many paper and fossil treasures, and Rick was a delight. If you come to Galena this shop is a must!

Rick does have a collection of old maps, posters and photographs. But don't be fooled by the name on his door... I would say Rick is the premiere stop for FOSSILS. More so than any place I've ever been before!

Found this place on our weekend trip to Galena. Had some really amazing and cool items here. My girlfriend bought a fossil project for her grandson here. The owner of the shop was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly.
