Donuts and Breakfast

Don't judge a book by its cover!!! Didn't know what to expect!! Ordered eggs,sausage, hash browns and 1 pancake. Was waiting to be disappointed. WRONG!!!
Food was exceptional ! Very fast service! Friendly staff. Even Covid precautions taken care of. Wore my mask. I'll be back next time I'm going through Giddings.

I stopped and purchased 2 breakfast tacos for breakfast, I couldn't eat them both because of there size being so large. I actually had the 2nd one for lunch later in the day. The taste was out of the world and can't wait to stop by for the next time.

Had a lunch including a patty melt, fries and chicken soup to start. Was good for the price, about 10 bucks with tea. This is a no frills good place to sit down, get served and eat. It’s on a Main Street. Easy to get in and out. Mask wearing is required and there is plastic sheeting between many of the tables.

Wow, I am so happy that I found this place! The breakfast was delicious and came out very quickly. The coffee was delicious, also. The place was not much to look at, but who cares. The locals were dining there, that's how you know you're at the right place! For people that aren't locals: When you enter, seat yourself and pay and the front register. We sadly did not try their donuts, but they looked delicious!

We always stop by here on our way home to Corpus Christi, we have a lake house in Somerville. The food is always great, the waitresses always friendly, and the place is kept real clean.

Breakfast here was DELICIOUS! We dined in and we’re so impressed by the food.

The restaurant is no frills, just a cute small-town diner. But make no mistake—the food is full of flavor!!

Meat & cheese omelet, a fluffy pancake, and biscuits & gravy. We loved every bite. The bacon ham and sausage were all fresh!

We’re only in town for 2 days and will be back tomorrow to eat again.

A hidden gem between 7 miles south of Giddings, TX off HWY 77. They have RV sites for daily or monthly use and Cabins for monthly rentals. Tent camping also available.
The Ross family are kind hearted folks that run a beautiful operation. Stop by and see the sights!

Oh my goodness! This place really has great food for breakfast! I had eggs over easy, sausage, hash browns and a pancake. I usually don’t finish the plate, (too much food) but the pancake was so good, I ended up eating almost all of it! So good!!

We gave it five stars as it met the basic "good service, good food and felt safe". We stopped there for breakfast and was very pleased with the food offered and prompt service. There were not many people in at 7:15 am that day (a Saturday), but they began arriving around 7:45. About the time we left. They also have a very good varity of pastries. It's not very noticable but is next to Brookshire Brothers store. Covid policies are followed very well.

Exactly what you would expect from the name. Quality tasty food, great service and excellent donuts (I really know my donuts).

Mel's was our choice to stop off for breakfast in Giddings and it was awesome. The food was great. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs and we got some fresh donuts for the road. Definitely worth a stop for the donuts and kolaches alone.

I had a great Western Omelette and delicious hash browns. I requested my omelette be made with egg whites which made the zippy flavours of ham, cheese and jalapeños even better!

Husband had a huge breakfast taco, and he ate it all.

In addition to serving a delicious breakfast the restaurant had a friendly hometown diner atmosphere.

Great homestyle cooking, kind people, fast service at a fantastic price.

Found this place as we were driving through. Really liked it -- lot of choices, plus donuts and kolaches. And a drive-through as well. Fast service, and folks always coming by to refill coffee. Great comfort food! Will be our go to stop every time we pass through.

Great midway point to meet up for lunch if you live near Austin but your kid goes to A&M. Tesla charger near by, and not far from the Round Top flea market if you time everything right. Delicious, affordable diner food, great selection of doughnuts, perfectly cooked eggs every time I've visited.

Local joint with a selection of very reasonably priced donuts and breakfast items. Drive thru was bustling at 7a. Their breakfast taco ain't tex mex, but it sure is hearty. If you're looking for a quick stop on the road, not a bad choice!

The western omelet was huge, filled with yumminess... make sure to ask for picante that salsa is to die for. The Pancakes are as big as the plate.

Not just a donut shop! We ate off of their breakfast menu. My husband ate the Western Omelete which was generously sized and came with toast and hash browns. I ate 2 eggs with bacon, hash browns, and a biscuit. Both meals were enough to fill us up.

Driving back to Houston and we decided to stop at Mel’s Diner for their pancake breakfast. Great food and friendly service! Would definitely stop again, delicious!
