I dare say, this place has the BEST Chinese crispy roast pork in TX, not just in Waco. It's not too salty but so crunchy and juicy. I just wish that the pork plate comes with some vegetables like cucumbers or salads, because pork is quite heavy with all the fat. But, it's still so good.
Pho was great too. This place is one of the few Asian gems in Waco, and we must treasure it.
And the server was very kind too :)

Enjoyed the food. The portions are big. The food was authentic. The service was great and the cashier was informative. We ordered several items on the menu to taste a little bit of everything. The Laos tea was tastier than expected and paired well with all of the dishes. The Pho was authentic and the noodles were cooked perfectly.

Don’t let the location deter you from trying this place out. Everything is absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the fried pork belly and crab rangoons. I’ve tried several things off the menu and haven’t been disappointed yet! Portions are very generous and the food is definitely worth the price.

It was so hard not to just dig in but like my brother once said, “ I had to let my phone eat first”. Look how amazing everything looks. The noodles and eggs were cooked to perfection. Everything was off the charts! 10 out 10 would recommend! Get the egg rolls!

Loved it!!!!

I’m a bit tough to please with Asian food since I got spoiled by getting to eat so much wonderful food in Asia and having many very generous friends from Asian nations who have fed me their national fare. I’m no expert but this food was wonderful!!!

Easy to park. Located at a gas station so not where you would go for ambiance but it is the definition of amazing hole in the wall restaurant that you can’t WAIT to taste again.

We were greeted upon walking in. The cashier was more than happy to answer any questions we had about the menu. The food came out very quickly! Large portions.

I got the homemade Lao noodles with beef, my husband got the Lao sausage with sticky rice. Our friends got the teriyaki chicken and the fried rice. We all noticed that the food had that wonderful wok char depth of flavor and the sauces had lovely complexity to them rather than being just sweet or just spicy or salty. Someone from the kitchen also very generously brought us a free, surprise plate of eggrolls, which were so crispy and full of flavor.

Thank you very much taste of Laos! We will definitely be back!

We found y’all while picking up a load today. It’s rare to find food this delicious that has truck parking as well. Pork belly with fried rice and crab wontons for me, loaded fries and shrimp eggrolls for my husband. There’s so much food we have enough for another meal. Thank you for being here for truckers and for filling iur bellies. ☺ — feeling excited with Chris Barnes at A Taste of Laos.

Don’t miss out on this amazing food. If you’re looking for unique and delicious options this place has it. I finished my fired pork belly dish and was impressed by the flavor and spice.

Top notch authentic beef pho (medium size was more than enough for me) and flavorful papaya salad (tastes just like what I used to enjoy in Thailand) - salad comes with large portion and a side of sticky rice. Very large portions and they have many fried rice and Laotian food options. Their spring rolls and spicy noodles are delish and I’m excited to try their pork belly dish next!

Located inside a gas station in an attached hole in the wall restaurant space.

I'm critical when it comes to a good bowl of pho. I'm Viet and grew up eating Pho every weekend. If I legitimately did not want to wait 8 hours to make my own pot I would actually come here for Pho. There are Viet restaurants in Waco area that can't even make a bowl as good as this. The prices are a bit steep for a bowl but they make up for it with the bits of beef they put in it. I would have to say this is the best Pho in Waco but that's not saying much since the bar is low.

Eggrolls have crunch and lots of rice noodles? not to much meat inside almost think it was vegetarian but I'm not hating on it as flavors were there and wouldn't hesitate to order it again.

Crispy Pork Belly with sticky rice. Yo this is fire. Really legit and most likely be a repeat for the future visits. It's probably because of this dish I will be coming back.

I lost all hope for Asian food since I moved here to Waco but this place has really open that hope back up for me and it's good for the area. It's in the Chevron Gas station and you can get drink next door to drink with your meal but the drinks aren't cold.

It's a solid 5 Waco Stars

2 days later update: I really wanted to get some Laos Sausage but was unable to because they ran out. So I subbed for the BBQ ribs which came with an egg. Then Papaya Salad that had some fried crunchy chicharrons and a side order of fried rice. Everything I had was A-Mazing!! Who ever is cooking this food knows what they are doing. There is a passion for great tasting food from the Kitchen here.

Pretty good, Pho. The only thing it was missing is odd meats like tripe and tendon from being a combo. Otherwise, the soup was hot and had plenty of flavor. Portions are big. I ordered medium, and it was like large size for most other vietnamese places I've been at. Defenetly recomending it any pho-lover. Staff is efficient and friendly! Will definitely be back if I am in the area!

Delicious meals (orange chicken & drunken noodles). As first timers, we each received a free egg roll. Generous portions and extensive menu. Friendly staff.

This place was sooooo good! It was almost $40 for two meals, but the portions are so large I was able to take it to go and eat it for dinner later. The young guy working the register was super helpful with recommendations and very nice. We will definitely be back soon!

An absolute hidden gem, easily the best Asian restaurant in the Waco area for me. Would definitely recommend. Hard to believe it's inside a gas station. The quality of the food is much better than many Asian restaurants in better locations.

Great Asian food find in an unexpected location. Laotian cuisine isn't exactly common in Central Texas, so I was pleasantly surprised to find A Taste of Laos at a gas station just south of Waco. Anthony took my order and was able to offer some great suggestions. The food was definitely fresh and hot, and it beats the usual roadside fare between Dallas and Austin!

My eyebrow went up when I heard this restaurant was attached to an Exxon station, but my skepticism waned away when we walked in because the people there were extra friendly and helpful, and the food was exceptional. I had the pork belly which had a nice crispy rind, a soft meat/fat combo in the middle, and some greasy cracklings that melt in your mouth. I highly recommend 👌

I was greeted upon coming in and the man taking our order could tell we were new. He was friendly and offered to explain dishes and had a good attitude. The wait time was appropriate for food and there were people constantly coming in to order food. My husband and I were able to just buy cheap water bottles at the gas station (the restaurant is connected next to the gas station) to go with our meal. They had huge windows that gave a lot of natural light and I did not see a dirty table since they were constantly cleaning them as people came and went. I LOVED THE FOOD! Their portion is good enough to order one thing, but I had to try their pork belly and Papaya salad! Each dish came with sticky rice and you could pick your spice levels for the Lao style papaya salad. I got it hot and it was WELL DONE! Spicy enough to where I almost died when I choked on the pepper liquid. Pork belly was on the sweeter side but the amount of meat to fat portion on them were great as well. I am glad I was able to try this place out and I was recommended to this place by a missionary priest who, too, approved of this place.
